Dodge Journey recalled for freezing fluid lines

The Basics: FCA is recalling 10,944 examples of the 2009-16 Dodge Journey - specifically those equipped with the optional engine block heaters and located in extremely cold climates. The Problem: Power steering fluid lines may leak when starting the engine in extremely cold weather, which would increase the amount of effort required to steer the vehicle. Injuries/Deaths: FCA reports that it is "unaware of any related injuries or accidents." The fix: The manufacturer is working on expediting replacement parts to resolve the issue in those vehicles potentially affected. If you own one: Expect to hear from the manufacturer soon to arrange service. Your chances of being affected are higher if you live in Canada, where a far greater number – estimated at 187,436 – of Journeys may be affected. An investigation found some lines carrying power-steering fluid may leak at engine start-up, when the vehicle is subject to extreme cold. Steering is not lost in such circumstances. However, if a vehicle is so-affected, the amount of physical effort required to steer may increase. The Company is unaware of any related injuries or accidents. Affected are certain model-year 2009-2016 Dodge Journey vehicles. An estimated 187,436 vehicles in Canada are also subject to this recall. Replacement parts are expected to become available soon. Affected customers will be notified accordingly. FCA US urges customers to follow the instructions on all recall notices. SRT partners with Bondurant for performance driving classes

Dodge and Bob Bondurant have announced a new partnership that will see the latter become the former's official high-performance driving school. The deal will see the Bondurant school's entire fleet of nearly 100 vehicles switched over from mostly General Motors products to Dodge Chargers, Challengers, and Vipers. It will give paying customers the chance to drive models like the new Hellcats and even the Viper ACR (for those deemed qualified to drive it) on the track in Arizona. The arrangement won't only benefit Bondurant clients, though. Anyone who buys or leases a new SRT model will get a one-day course at the school, including professional instruction on track. They'll have to pay for their own travel and accommodations, but the instruction will hopefully show more drivers of SRT vehicles how to handle all that muscle they've got at their disposal. Car models come and go, but as revealed by monthly sales data, once a car is discontinued, it doesn't just disappear instantly. And in the case of some models, vanishing into obscurity can be a slow, tedious process. That's the case with the 12 cars we have here. All of them have been discontinued, but car companies keep racking up "new" sales with them. There are actually more discontinued cars that are still registering new sales than what we decided to include here. We kept this list to the oldest or otherwise most interesting vehicles still being sold as new, including a supercar. We'll run the list in alphabetical order, starting with *drumroll* ... BMW 6 Series: 55 total sales BMW quietly removed the 6 Series from the U.S. market during the 2019 model year. It had been available in three configurations, a hardtop coupe, a convertible and a sleek four-door coupe-like shape.   BMW i8: 18 total sales We've always had a soft spot for the BMW i8, despite the fact that it never quite fit into a particular category. It was sporty, but nowhere near as fast as similarly-priced competitors. It looked very high-tech and boasted a unique carbon fiber chassis design and a plug-in hybrid powertrain, but wasn't really designed for maximum efficiency or maximum performance. Even if Chrysler never really found its footing in the ultra-competitive midsize sedan segment, apparently dealerships have a few leftover 2017 200s floating around. And for some reason, 15 buyers decided to sign the dotted line to take one of these aging sedans home last year.
