Selling this solid 2002 Grand Caravan as we sent a kid to college, downsized the vehicle, just don't need the size of the van any longer.
Purchased from original owner in Downers Grove, IL, 3 years ago. Was well maintained at Zeigler Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep in Downers Grove where it was originally delivered.
This Grand Caravan has always been extremely reliable for our family. We have maintained it locally through an independent mechanic, and with 154,000 miles, it runs and acts like a lower mileage van. It really does run out well and with a couple little things done, it really could probably be reliably driven just about anywhere in the country. We've always trusted it.
Equipment:
3.3 litre V6
Roof Rack
Power Steering, Power Brakes
Power Windows, Power Locks
Seats 7 - Two Rear Seats Roll Out Entirely, for cargo space
AM/FM CD radio, factory equipment
Cloth Interior
AC
Cruise/Tilt
Remote Starter/Alarm
2" Trailer Hitch/Receiver
The Upsides:
Runs extremely well. Shifts right, no slop, strong transmission. Is clean inside...did not smoke...no damage inside ie rips, tears, burns, etc, to upholstery. Recent work includes newer tires, new radiator, new water pump, tune up, oil changes were consistent. It does use a bit of oil. Not a lot. Maybe around a quart between oil changes, nothing unexpected, though, considering the mileage. It just runs well, and is going to give someone a lot more service over the next several years. Most everything, I believe, does work just fine.
The Downsides:
Brakes. They are dangerously bad. It lost a bit of what turned out to be brake fluid in our driveway. Local mechanic repaired a hose of some sort where a fitting blew out. Brakes were fine immediately afterward, but over the course of a month to month and a half, they went very soft again. It really is just about entirely unsafe to drive with the brakes as they currently are. So I don't honestly know if there is a brake line leaking somewhere, or something affecting pressure in the lines...master cylinder? I just don't know, and chose not to make the investment of time/money to dig further at the moment.
There is surface rust here and there, nothing super widespread, but it's there. There is one rust through area down low, left/driver's side, behind the sliding door and in front of the left rear wheel. They all seem to get it in this same spot. The plastic molding is missing on the right sliding door. Small thing. And it has some dings in the tailgate. Some parking lot dings and scratches. The lower air dam under the front bumper has a crack. So it's not pristine. It's 10 years old and has been in its share of parking lots and collected the nicks and dings.
I don't have a functioning remote door opener/clicker, the one I got from the original owner broke. So the vehicle is equipped with a remote starter, and alarm system, and remote openers, but the keytag/opener needs to be replaced if you choose to use it. Otherwise, it works fine with just the key.
Thanks for looking. Please only bid if you are serious and able to complete the transaction within 48 hours of auction closing, ie payment in full and vehicle pickup. Also please leave a note/email with questions, we'll return emails/calls immediately.

Dodge Charger Pursuit takes Tesla interior approach
Fri, Sep 11 2015A police car's computer is just as integral to its duties as a set of lights and sirens. The popular approach for these systems is to grab something like a Panasonic Toughbook laptop, add a big, bulky tray to hold it, and use this inelegant setup for running plates and doing all the other things a cop needs to do while on the road. The downside, besides simple aesthetics, is that this arrangement robs the officer's shotgun-riding partner from legroom. Dodge, though, has come up with a far more elegant and functional solution. Taking a page out of Tesla and Volvo's book, Dodge has replaced the five-inch UConnect display and laptop mount in the Charger Pursuit police car with an enormous 12.1-inch, portrait-format touchscreen display. Called, UConnect 12.1, the new system doesn't do away with the old fashioned computer outright. Instead it moves the bulky unit to the trunk, where it can connect to the display via an ethernet cable. This is good for multiple reasons. First, there are no pricey installation or upfitting charges, like there are for most laptop carriages. Secondly, the plug-and-play nature of the new UConnect system won't require the department to buy new laptops. And third, there's no need to retrain officers, since the only thing that's really changing is the input. While the Charger Pursuit will continue to offer redundant audio and HVAC controls, the 12.1-inch display can, at the press of a "button" split to display Fiat Chrysler's familiar 8.4-inch display. Make one more tap on the screen, and the police-issue laptop can be managed through the full touchscreen. The touchscreen will also display a menu bar at the top of the page, which can easily be edited by officers. All it takes is a simple drag and drop from the application menu to the top of the display. According to Dodge, the touchscreen will even play nice when its operator is wearing gloves. "As America's high-performance police vehicle, Dodge Charger Pursuit is going big for 2016, offering a massive, Uconnect touchscreen system that streamlines a law enforcement officer's computer system with our easy-to-use Uconnect system – on an all-new laptop-sized 12.1-inch touchscreen display," said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge and SRT's president and CEO.
Jay Leno's Dodge Challenger raises $585k for USO in Scottsdale
Mon, Jan 19 2015Of all the metal moved in Scottsdale, AZ, this holiday weekend, the one you see here was hardly the most expensive. But it's noteworthy for another reason: despite being a relatively humble, second-hand 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8, raised an impressive $565,625. That's because, first of all, it belonged to Jay Leno, and secondly because the proceeds were going to the USO. Leno donated the modern muscle car from his collection to benefit our men and women in uniform, and was on hand to present the car on stage at the Gooding & Company auction, along with USO president J.D. Crouch II and former Army chief of staff General George W. Casey, Jr. After frenzied and patriotic bidding, the gavel ultimately dropped at $360,000, accompanied by over $200,000 in additional contributions, bringing the total amount donated to the USO to over half a million. Commendable though it was, of course the Challenger didn't garner the highest bids at the auction. A 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider sold for $7.7 million and a 1968 Ferrari 330 GTS fetched $2.4 million. A rare 1962 Ferrari 400 Superamerica Series I Coupe Aerodinamico sold for over $4,070,000 – which, according to Sports Car Market, is the most ever paid at auction for a 400 Superamerica. And a 1966 Porsche 906 Carrera 6 also sold for a record $1.98 million. Race Recap: Rolex 24 at Daytona was fast and feisty
Mon, Jan 26 2015Let the record show that victory at the 2015 Rolex 24 at Daytona went to the No. 02 Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates Target/Ford EcoBoost Riley DP driven by Verizon IndyCar drivers Scott Dixon and Tony Kanaan and NASCAR drivers Jamie McMurray and Kyle Larson. The winner did 740 laps to cover 2,634.3 miles in 24 hours and 57.667 seconds. That's a statement to this year's pace in spite of 18 cautions, two more than last year: the Michael Shank Racing Ligier got pole with a time of 1:39.194, slower than last year's pole time of 1:38.270; however, the winning car last year only did 695 laps. The fight for top honors was shaved to a four-car battle over the first third of the event. The No. 02 Ganassi car took the lead on the first lap, swapping it well into the night with the No. 01 Ganassi car, the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP, and the defending champion No. 5 Action Express Corvette DP, all of them staying within about 20 seconds of one another. The Action Express car had a fuel connector come loose and lost three laps getting towed back to the pits to have it reattached, but was back in the lead 18 hours in. The No. 01 Ganassi car dropped out with recurring clutch problems 22 hours in, retiring not long after. A race-within-the-race is where the concluding action happened, a seven minute, 30-second dash from the end of the last caution to the checkered flag. During the penultimate pit stops with an hour to go, Dixon was in second place followed Jordan Taylor in the Wayne Taylor Racing DP into the pits but beat him out, taking the lead. The Action Express car was in third. In the last pit stops of the race, Dixon gained even more time, getting a four-second advantage over Taylor. Then a full-course caution came out twenty minutes before the finish when a Prototype Challenge car hit the wall and caught fire, bunching up the field. That closed the pits, but the Wayne Taylor Racing car had to pit during that yellow because of a miscalculation of driver time. No driver can be behind the wheel for more than four hours in a six-hour period but Jordan Taylor was going to go over, so he came in to swap out for brother Ricky. That cost the team any chance of second place, since they took an additional drive-through penalty for entering closed pits. When the track went green again, Sebastien Bourdais in the Action Express car stayed all over Dixon for the final five laps but couldn't get around him.
