I have for sale a 2005 Dodge Durango Limited 4x4. It has the 5.7 Hemi, DVD, navigation, leather, sunroof, tow package, 2009 Dodge Ram wheels with 285/70R17 Bridgestone Dueler Revo 2 tires, and front and rear heat/air. It has 172xxx miles (exact mileage will vary as we continue to drive the vehicle occasionally) but don't let that scare you. I have owned this vehicle since 2006 when we purchased it with 26k miles from Chris Nikel Chrysler in Tulsa. The transmission was replaced in the fall of 2012 with a take-out unit from a 2007 Ram 1500 with 26k miles (by a Dodge/Chrysler certified technician). The interior is in good shape, although it could use a good detail.  We live in the country and have a driveway that once was gravel but is now mainly dirt, and have no where to park except our yard.  The exterior is in good condition as well.  It has a few spots where the clear coat has chipped, but no dents.  Mechanically the truck needs nothing. I have complete service records dating back to 09/09/10 at 120k miles. Before that the only thing it ever needed was regular oil changes and tires. Since then it has had new brakes, front lower ball joints, a transfer case motor, and new Monroe Reflex shocks. It has been in one accident (damage to the left rear) that was professionally repaired by Mason's Body Shop in Fort Smith. I'm only selling this vehicle because I just bought a Ford Excursion and don't need two full size SUVs.  The title is clear and in my name.

You'll notice in the photo of the driver's side seat the trim piece is hanging down. This happens to virtually all of these trucks. I have a new trim piece on hand and will install it before the sale.  Kelly Blue Book private party value for Good condition is $8400. NADA (what most banks go by) has it clean retail for $9400. Either way my asking price is much lower than loan value.  Don't hesitate to make an offer.  For an additional  fee I can have the tires and shocks replaced under warranty.  I worked for some time as at Firestone Complete Auto Care and can get a great deal.  If you purchase the vehicle I will get a price for you.

Delivery/Pickup
The vehicle is located in Hackett, AR, 72937, where it may be picked up free of charge.  I am willing to deliver, or meet you, up to 300 miles from this zip for $1.00 per loaded mile.  I am willing to deliver further away but the fee will be higher.  The soonest delivery will occur is November 26, 2013, and may be as late as the following week.

Dodge and Jeep recalling 895k SUVs for possibility of headliner fires

Fri, 11 Jul 2014

Dodge and Jeep are announcing recalls of a total of 895,000 Durango and Grand Cherokee models worldwide from the 2011 through 2014 model years. There's a possibility that the wiring in the sun visor can short circuit and cause a fire. It specifically affects vehicles built between January 5, 2010, and December 11, 2013, and there are approximately 651,000 of them in the US, 45,700 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico and 175,000 outside of North America.
Screws that fasten the sunvisor to the headliner may pierce wires in the visor, if the part has been removed or serviced, potentially causing a fire risk. If the wires short circuit, they could overheat and potentially combust. The automakers report three injuries caused by this defect, and according to the investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, "there may be a total of 52 unique fire incidents."
To fix the problem, Dodge and Jeep will inspect the vehicles for suspect wiring, and all of the models, whether damaged or not, will get a new sun visor spacer with a wire guide to stop the possibility of short circuits. According to the automakers' announcement, "this condition is not present in vehicles which have not had the headliner or vanity mirror serviced." They will notify affected owners, and repairs will begin in August.

Consumer Reports says these are the worst new cars of 2014

Thu, 27 Feb 2014

Consumer Reports has announced its annual list of worst vehicles, a cringe-inducing contrast to its list of top vehicles. Ignominiously leading the way in 2014 is Chrysler, which has a staggering seven models listed.
Jeep nearly sweeps the small SUV segment by itself, with its Compass, Patriot and 2.4-liter version of the new Cherokee, while the only midsize sedans listed by CR were the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger. The new Dodge Dart and the Dodge Journey round out CR's condemnation of Chrysler.
Ford is taking heat as well, with the Taurus, Edge and their counterparts from Lincoln all listed as the worst vehicles in their respective segments. Toyota doesn't fare much better, with its Lexus IS, Scion iQ and tC also making the list.

Dodge engineers trying to shoehorn Pentastar into Dart?

Tue, 19 Nov 2013

The fact that the Dart's launch has been a pretty dismal affair isn't what we'd call secret. Judging by its mounting inventories and poor critical reception, Dodge's successor to its unloved Caliber has struggled since it hit the market. And while both of those are difficult problems to address, at least their cause is well known - the powertrain.
Even Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has acknowledged that the powertrain options in the Dart are substandard, admitting at January's Detroit Auto Show that the powertrains are "less than ideal." Leading with the 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder found in the Fiat 500 Abarth left a bad taste in the mouths of consumers thanks to the laggy engine and dead throttle response (to say nothing of the manual and dual-clutch gearboxes that needed more refinement). The addition of the 184-horsepower 2.4-liter Tigershark in the Dart GT has helped matters some, but apparently Auburn Hills doesn't think it's quite enough.
If rumors are to be believed - get that salt ready - a possible solution may be in the works. A report from Allpar is claiming that Dodge is considering fitting a Pentastar V6 into the Dart's engine bay. As the Mopar-obsessed website points out, the critically acclaimed Pentastar is available in three different sizes - 3.0 liters, 3.2 liters and the original 3.6 liters. We don't get the 3.0 here in the US, but the 3.2 can be found in the new Jeep Cherokee and the 3.6 has been seemingly fitted to every model Chrysler can shoehorn it into.
