I bought this Durango last year and I didn't know what to expect. I always liked the Durango's looks, but had never really driven one before.
I was much more than impressed when I first felt the power in this engine. I had to go online to see what the horse power was. It states that the 4.7 has 235hp and I can tell you that you will feel every one of those ponies when you drive it.
There was a vibration in the steering wheel when braking, so I just stepped up and had the front brakes completely redone. The steering vibration is now gone, but there is still a smaller vibration from the rear brakes, so it would probably be a good move to replace the rear brakes at some point. I will replace the rear pads and have the rotors turned on a lathe at NAPA for $150 extra if this is something you don't want to do. 90% of your braking power comes from the front brakes, so it will likely be fine to drive as it is for awhile since it has 0 miles on new front brakes.
I replaced the throttle position sensor about 6 months ago because I decided to pressure wash the dust off the engine while it was running and apparently that is not the right thing to do anymore with all of the computerized engine components these days. :) It scared the (insert exclamation here) out of me. Who would think that getting this one sensor wet could cause so much havoc. It would stall or surge at random times and it would stay in 1st gear up to like 60 mph before changing. I thought I really messed up and I am sure that had I taken it to an average shop, they would have got me coming and going, but I have a great shop up in Anacortes and they told me it was a $35 sensor that took 15 minutes to install. They charged me for the part and $25 for labor. It cleared up everything immediately and this thing really runs strong. It shifts healthy and clean. It has a bunch of miles showing, but you can't tell by driving. The guy I bought it from said the engine was rebuilt a few times in its life and you can feel it. There are no leaks and it does not burn oil. The sides and bottom of the engine are very dry and clean. It shows 265,999 miles, but it is a strong running, fun driving, powerful rig. It handles very well. The 4 wheel drive works extremely well. We only used it on a couple of occasions to test it and on ice its perfect, but I even backed it up an uneven steep hill to park it with for sale sign and at the top of the hill, one tire lifted 8" into the air. Most 4x4s would be stuck there with that airborne tire spinning freely. Not this one. I lightly stepped on the accelerator and it smoothly continued up the hill on 3 tires without one slipping tire or even a raised engine speed.
Towing... I have an F250 that is my towing beast. Generally, it can tow anything I put behind it. I searched and searched for accurate information today online, but all of these search engines just want to sell you stuff and you can't just ask a question anymore. From the best I could tell, the F250 weighs about 4300 pounds and according to all sources the 94 Pathfinder weighs 3900 pound (not true). Well, my Pathfinder has oversized tires, 12" of lift, an ARB Australian Winch Bull Bumper, plus a Warn 9000 winch inside of that bumper. That brings me up to 6600 lbs. I have weighed it myself. There is an additional issue this week, being that there is a complete new engine in the rear of the pathfinder so it has to weigh well over 7000lbs, being pulled by a 4300lb empty bed pickup. I was towing it through the mountains on a curvy road and the rear truck (Pathfinder), kept pushing my F250 through every turn. It was very stressful. When I got it home, I had to back it through a narrow gate up a very steep driveway with an empty bed light weight pickup. I tried several times and finally, I hooked up the Durango to it and I just drove it exactly where it needed to go in the yard with ease.
The tires had decent tread on them. The truck has nice alloy wheels all around. Has factory tow package that was optional too.
BE SURE TO CHECK OUT NADA ON THEIR SITE. THIS RIG EXACTLY AS IT SITS SHOWS $3750 ROUGH AND $4859 AVERAGE BOOK...
I am not trying to get rich. I love this truck, but life is pushing and pulling on my wallet these days. I have to sell my baby, you will love it...
That's it. No shipping.

Chrysler teases upcoming outlay of SEMA cars
Wed, 15 Oct 2014Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is hauling a multitude of modified models to the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas this November, and the company is releasing the first teasing sketches of many of them.
Unfortunately, FCA isn't giving many solid details on any of the concepts other than saying the vehicles from Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram and Fiat all benefit from tuning from its Mopar performance brand. The teaser photos include a sinister-looking Chrysler 200S, Fiat 500 Abarth with two-tone paint and a scorpion on the hood, a red and black 500L, seemingly two different takes on the Jeep Renegade, a green Dodge Challenger wearing the T/A badge, an orange and black Dart, a very neon Charger, just the outline of a red and black Viper, a Ram ProMaster in Mopar livery and a Ram pickup called the Outdoorsman.
Take a look through the gallery to see what you think of the sketches for these concepts, and scroll down for the full announcement from FCA.
Watch dual-engined Dodge SRT4 do a FWD burnout, a RWD burnout, then AWD launch
Wed, Dec 3 2014There's something fantastically insane about racers who go out on their own and build something unique. Just take this crazy video from last year of a twin-engine Dodge SRT4 at a drag strip that can burn the rubber at either end – or both ends – at a moment's notice. With tires sticking out way past the fenders, a massive cooling system at the front and no back window to speak of, this Dodge is clearly meant solely for speed. Though it's real party trick is being able to spin the front or rear wheels independently. The setup makes for three quite showy burnouts. When it came time to actually get down the track, things got somewhat awkward. Like other twin-engine creations we've seen, the separate powertrains make for some odd sounds and a weird look launching down the strip. Still, there's no doubt that the engineering behind this Frankenstein is very impressive. Scroll down to see this monster in action and another of it in a very mismatched race last year. Dodge Viper now available in matte finish
Tue, Jun 23 2015The prospect of buying a new Dodge Viper just got that much more enticing with the introduction of matte-finish paint direct from the factory. Available as part of the "1 of 1" customization program, the matte finishes aren't being offered in just a handful of colors like some other automakers do: customers will be able to specify a matte finish on any of the 8,000 colors that are already part of the program's palette. The matte finish option adds yet another step to the exhaustive hand-painting process that Dodge offers on the Viper - a painstaking endeavor that takes upwards of 145 man hours to complete. Specialists start by applying a base coat and a clear finish, followed by the paint and clear coat. The finished body panels are then smoothed with 1,000-grit paper and polished. A second sanding process is required for the matte finish before the application of a matte clear coat. Specify custom stripes (available in five colors or by custom order) and they're applied under the paint, not as decals on top. The availability of the matte finish in conjunction with the stripe options and new satin badging and fuel cap leads to over 50 million combinations. Needless to say, that means no two Vipers need ever leave the Conner Avenue assembly plant the same – though there will surely always be certain favorite combinations, especially on those units ordered from outside the customization program.
