1971 Dodge Demon Resto-mod on 2040-cars
West Branch, Iowa, United States
Up for auction is my 1971 Dodge Demon. This has been a project car for me for the passed few years and Ive decided that its time to let it go. I put a lot of hours into this car but just never got around to finishing it. It needs very little to be put on the road, but with that said I'll start with whats needed; There is a bind in the rear axle not sure why but probably a simple fix, but the center section on the diff will need to be pulled for closer inspection, needs a drifeshaft, the brakes need bled, a windshield and seal, and misc trim/etc pieces need to be cleaned up and reinstalled. Includes front bumper, valance, and most of the original hardware for the car. Now what has been done to the car is as follows, it originally started out a a slant six 3 on the tree car but has been converted to a small block K member with all new ball joints, tie rods, and polyurethane bushings throughout. Switched to the common 4.5" wheel bolt spacing all around and converted to disc brakes in the front, with new steel and rubber lines installed. It has a '98 5.9L Dodge Magnum engine with a Milodon 8quart oil pan, mildodon oil pump, and milodon dual roller timing set also installed in the engine which is mated to an application correct NP A833 4-speed transmission. New MP flywheel, Zoom kevlar Clutch assembly, Hurst Comp Plus shifter assembly w/hardware kit, new mounts and seals where needed were installed, along with a modded to fit factory a-body shift boot and hurst bench seat shift lever. It has MP Super Stock rear leaf springs installed on a '68 B-body 8.75" rear differential housing/axles with new bearings and axles seals in place. The differential unit is a 489 case with a richmond 4.10 ring and pinion and a Mopar suregrip unit installed. Base/Clear paint was done right including the jams and inside trunk first. Installed is an aftermarket RCI 16gallon fuel tank with GM style sending unit for a gauge. Car also has installed a MP chrome ecu and an MSD Rev controller. Im sure than Im forgetting a lot but Ill add info as I remember and answer Questions as they arrive.

It was a virtually rust free body with a very solid frame and sheet metal. This is NO Bondo Queen. These pictures do not do justice to how good/straight this car is. Watch a Dodge Viper driver show off his V10 all the way into a wall
Mon, Apr 11 2016Has there ever been a show-off video that doesn't end terribly? This video clip captured with a cellphone shows the driver of a neon green Viper GTS giving a fellow motorist a couple throttle blips to signify his intent – which seems to be to crash the Viper into a concrete wall as quickly as possible. It's not pretty. The mean machine seems to be a second-generation Viper GTS in Stryker Green. To our knowledge, no photos have surfaced of the aftermath, so we wish both the driver and their most-likely bruised ego a speedy recovery. Who knows, maybe the Viper is also salvageable.
Marchionne on Alfa's US return, Dodge Dart's powertrain weakness and minivan plans
Fri, 18 Jan 2013As a reporter covering an auto show, the one opportunity you never want to miss is going to the Sergio Marchionne press briefing.
"This undertaking to bring Alfa back is a one-shot deal... We are not going to do this twice."
There just aren't that many real characters left in the auto industry. Marchionne, who sits atop both Chrysler and Fiat, is not only one of the smartest execs in the business, but also the most frank. Herein, a sample of the quotable always-sweatered executive:
Dodge Dart Registry helps you crowdsource money for your next ride [w/video]
Wed, 23 Jan 2013To be honest, we're surprised something like this didn't pop up sooner. Chrysler is riffing on gift registries for couples getting married or expecting babies and cross-pollinating it with a social media funding website like Kickstarter to help customers buy its 2013 Dodge Dart. The Dodge Dart Registry allows people to build and customize a new Dart exactly how they want it, then let other people purchase some or all of the components as gifts.
The registry lets you add features like dark headlights, dual exhaust, various wheels and even interior options without choosing a specific trim level. This sounds a lot like the system Scion uses to let its customers configure cars, and this could be a great idea for Dodge. Of course, this system has the added benefit of being a social media affair for you to share with your friends... you know, so they can help pay for some of the parts, too.
The best thing about the registry is that you can configure your dream Dart from the comfort of your home computer, which strikes us as much better than walking around Bed, Bath and Beyond for the better part of an afternoon with an electronic scanner. The one thing that Dodge doesn't offer? "Thank You" cards. Those are on you.
