1970 Dodge Dart Swinger Hardtop 2-door 5.9 No Reserve on 2040-cars
Oswego, Illinois, United States
Bid to win this beautiful 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger 340
tribute, originally a 318 car which was disassembled back in the early eighties
to be restored. The car changed hands three times without ever getting the
attention it deserved.. I bought the car about two years ago in primer (new
rear quarters installed) as a shell along with a truck load of parts in boxes.
I believe the car would have ended up as scrap as this owner was also
overwhelmed and was the next in line to give up on the project. I have four
other cars in various stages of restoration, however I couldn’t let this one
just disappear. So I spent the better part of the last two years painstakingly sorting,
cleaning and reconditioning parts and reassembling this gorgeous piece of
history. It now wears a beautiful brilliant orange paint job which
looks amazing from close up. I would consider the paint an 8 out of 10? It
looks far better than a driver quality, but is not completely flawless. The
bumpers have been painted to match. It stands out as one of the nicer cars at
most cruise night events. Under the hood sits a completely rebuilt late 70’s 360 with
a 340 intake and a, brand new Holley 650, mild cam and headers. Still has its
original low mile 904 transmission which was freshened (new converter) up along
with the 8 3/4 factory original rear end. All suspension parts were replaced as were all brake parts.
(4 wheel drum) The interior is original to the car as well, however the
seats dyed black and the door panels and headliner were replaced. All looks
very presentable. Factory rally wheels with newer Kelly Brand radials. The car is 98% finished but needs about $300.00-$500.00
worth of small items to be 100% complete Heater box not in the car (delete plate) I have some of
those pieces would take very little to install it. Wiper switch, glove box latch and few interior trim piece
missing (all still available) Like I said, would take very little to finish or drive it
and enjoy the way it is. I need the garage space for other projects I’m
involved in, so this one must go! The car starts and runs perfectly and can be driven
anywhere. I have about $15000.00 invested not including my time.. Clean clear Illinois title in my name. I COMPLETELY recommend a personal inspection!!!! I don’t
want and disappointments. NO RESERVE!!!!!! JUST LISTED LOCALLY, I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END AUCTION EARLY I may consider 68-72 Mopar, 67-70 Camaro project trades... Call with questions 630-999-3114 Mike |

Dodge Charger Hellcat hitting 60 in 2.9 seconds on drag radials?
Thu, 02 Oct 2014The Dodge boys and their cousins from SRT have shoehorned the same 707-horsepower, 6.2-liter supercharged V8 into both the Dodge Challenger and Charger. The former being a two-door, it's lighter than the latter four-door sedan. So it would stand to reason that the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat would be the quicker of the two, right?
Only that's not necessarily proving to be the case. On stock rubber, yes, the coupe beats the sedan: Dodge quotes a 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds for the Charger SRT Hellcat and 3.5 for the Challenger. Same gap across the quarter-mile: 11 seconds flat for the Charger versus 10.8 seconds for the Challenger. But according to recent reports, the story changes when you put both on drag radials.
While visiting Chrysler HQ in Auburn Hills, MI, TorqueNews.com caught wind of performance figures for the Charger Hellcat on drag tires: 0-60 in a mind-blowing 2.9 seconds and a quarter-mile in just 10.7. The latter figure just barely pips the Hellcat-powered Challenger's NHRA-certified figure of 10.8, making the Charger not only the fastest sedan on the market, but also the fastest muscle car. What isn't immediately clear, however, is whether the drag radials in question have any tread on them and are street-legal, or if they're pure slicks confined to a closed strip.
Dodge Hellcat orders on hold due to 'unprecedented demand'
Sun, Mar 15 2015Want to get your hands on a 707-horsepower Dodge Challenger or Charger Hellcat to call your very own? We don't blame you, and you're not alone. According to Motor Authority and confirmed by a spokesperson from Chrysler, Dodge has gotten so many orders for its stable of Hellcats that it simply cannot keep up with demand: "Due to unprecedented demand for the 2015 Dodge Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcats, we are temporarily restricting orders while we validate current orders that are in the system." Put another way, if you're waiting for a Hellcat, your wait is likely to be a lot longer than you'd like. We've reached out to Chrysler to find out how long it might take for a new customer to get a new Hellcat, and we'll update if and when we hear back. Chrysler to accelerate production of 2013 Ram and V6 engines
Fri, 16 Nov 2012Chrysler is adding a third shift at its Warren Truck plant to meet demand for the new 2013 Ram pickup. And with tight supplies of its Pentastar V6, the company is also boosting output at its Mack Engine plant.
The expansions will add 1,250 jobs and are part of a $238 million investment by Chrysler in the Detroit area. Warren's third shift will begin work sometime in the spring, a Chrysler rep told Automotive News. Mack's increased Pentastar production a could include both 3.6 and 3.2-liter engines.
The company says it also plans to invest $40 million in its Trenton Engine plant to allow for production of a 3.2-liter V6 as well as the Tigershark inline-four for the upcoming Jeep Liberty replacement.
