1969 Dodge Dart Gts Convertible 2-door 340ci on 2040-cars
Houghton Lake, Michigan, United States
On Feb-01-14 at 10:33:50 PST, seller added the following information: 1 of 417 made (including the 50 export). 340-4bbl, 727 auto, all matching numbers. Total restoration in 2004. Most Every nut, bolt, washer either replaced or redone. I'm the 3rd owner. Car is originally from mid Ohio. The 1st and 2nd owners were best friends, so I have the complete history on the car, including the original window sticker and broadcast sheet. I've owned it since March 1995. I had a 68 Dart 170/6 in high school and fell in love with the 69 GTS then. I started looking for a 69 GTS convertible in 1987, wanting a white top, white interior and white stripe. I didn't care what the body color was as long as I got my white. It took about 8 years for a white top/interior to come up for sale. Currently has about 121,000 miles. Engine was rebuilt to stock by Muscle Motors. They did go .030 over and did some head/valve work. Original exhaust manifolds, but a 2 1/2" exhaust. The only original sheet metal on it now is the hood and the doors. Everything was shot. After taking the car down, the body man called me, had me look at it, and asked me, "Am I sure I want to go thru with this on this bad of a car?" By this time, I knew what I had, being all matching #s and as rare as it is, I figured, let's do it! The front fenders and truck lid came from a rust-free California 6 cyl Dart. The rear quarters are reproduction. I did the complete disassembly and re-assembly, but farmed out the body/paint and rebuilding of engine and trans. I even bought a buffer to buff all the stainless trim myself. The front grille and wheel covers are original and were restored by Totally Auto in PA. They told me I have the 'most expensive set of wheel covers in the country'. It was invited to and shown at the 2007 Carlisle All-Chrysler Nationals held in Carlisle, PA. It was awarded 3rd Place at Autorama 2008 - Detroit Michigan It was invited to the Willistead Classic Concours d'Elegance in Windsor Canada on August 24th 2008. It was in the July 2009 edition of MuscleCar Enthusiast, (4 page article)

Mopar teases four of 'nearly 20' SEMA Show concepts
Fri, Oct 23 2015Yesterday it was Chevrolet. Today, Mopar has dropped some SEMA knowledge, releasing a quartet of teaser images that give us some indication of what kind of cars, trucks, and crossovers Fiat, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram will be showing in Las Vegas. Like Chevy, Mopar's concepts utilize both production and concept accessories, although Fiat Chrysler has gone a bit more indepth on at least one of its concepts. Immediately, the most tantalizing teaser is the one shown above. Yes, that's the back of a Challenger, and aside from the bright orange accents on the gray body, you should take notice of the badge mounted on the spoiler – yes, that says "GT AWD." To be honest, such a vehicle wouldn't be a huge shock, as both the Challenger's LX platform-mates, the Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300, are offered with all-wheel-drive options. Still, adding such a vehicle to the production cycle would give Dodge a leg up on the rear-drive only Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro. Aside from that concept, FCA has also released teasers of a Ram-based concept, a 300-based concept, and what we're guessing is a Fiat 500X. We can't wait to see what the actual Fiat concept has to do with kiteboarding. As for the 300 and Ram, there's not a lot of hints on what sort of styling details they'll contain. The Chrysler has additional LED accents and what we're guessing is matte blue paint, while the Ram is based on a Hemi-powered 1500 with Rebel styling cues. This is just a very tiny sample of Mopar's final SEMA roster, which include "hundreds" of parts. There should also be a total of 20 vehicles covering all four former Chrysler Group brands, as well as Fiat. Naturally, we'll have plenty to report on each vehicle once the SEMA show kicks off in the next couple weeks.
Dodge launches 1 of 1 Viper configurator
Fri, Apr 17 2015Get comfortable because you might be spending a good chunk of time in front of the computer on this. The configurator for the 2015 Dodge Viper GTC 1 of 1 is now online, and it's a ton of fun to play around with. Mechanically, the GTC is just like every current Viper with a 645-horsepower, 8.4-liter V10. But for the special editions Dodge lets buyers tinker with practically everything aesthetic thing. For the exterior alone, the choices include some 8,000 available body colors, two stripe styles in innumerable shades, two hood designs and various brake caliper hues. Plus, there are 16 upholstery colors inside, and options like red seat belts and carbon fiber trim. Dodge reckons there are over 25 million possible combinations, and the models are available to customers on a first-come-first serve basis for each model year. Although, two people wanting identical cars seems pretty unlikely. The configurator is a beauty too. It makes all of these myriad options extremely easy to pick from, and there are even four resolution settings to see your creation in the best possible way. Prices for the GTC start at $94,995 and deliveries are set to start in the second quarter of the year. Although, even if you have no intention of buying one, specifying these custom coupes is still highly entertaining.
Cruiser's close call caught on camera
Mon, Dec 21 2015A new recruit to the Kansas Highway Patrol experienced his first brush with danger on his first day when a semi truck clipped his cruiser during a traffic stop last week. Public relations officer Tod Hileman said in a Facebook post that the incident occurred when an officer and his brand-new trainee pulled over a black Dodge Charger on I-70 in Trego County, Kansas. Hileman said in the comments that the cruiser was parked two feet away from the white line on the shoulder. Not only did the driver not get over a lane when he saw the stopped cruiser per Kansas law, he seemed to have moved closer to the side of the road. The big rig managed to send the cruiser's side mirror and spotlight flying across the road. The truck could have easily injured one of the officers, perhaps fatally. The truck driver ignored Kansas' Move Over law, which requires "drivers approaching a stationary emergency vehicle displaying flashing lights, including towing and recovery vehicles, traveling in the same direction, to vacate the lane closest if safe and possible to do so, or slow to a speed safe for road, weather, and traffic conditions." With a clear lane to his left the trucker in this case had no excuse. He stopped after the crash and was cited by the officers for failing to change lanes when he saw the stopped vehicles. Being a cop is a risky job. So far this year, 28 officers have lost their lives in the line of duty due to car accidents, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page.
