This Dart was sold originally in August 1966 in Pennsylvania. I purchased the car in 2004 from the grandson of the original owner. The car since I owned it has been stored in a heated controlled garage. I have put less than a thousand miles on the car in 10 years. This is NOT a restored car and it does NOT NEED to be restored. This car has never been painted on. I was told that it was sitting on the original tires and still is. The car was rust proofed when new. The shocks are original, they are still covered with rust proofing. Several pieces of chrome have very small amount of pitting. ( THE ONLY RUST ON THE CAR IS WHERE THE RUSTPROOFING HAS BEEN CHIPPED OFF. ) ( REAR BUMPER and REAR TAIL LIGHT BEZELS ). THIS IS THE CAR THAT WAS AT THE CHRYSLER NATIONALS in COLUMBUS OHIO in 2013 ( IT WAS IN THE SURVIVOR TENT ) I drove the car to the nationals. THIS IS NOT A TRAILER QUEEN This car can be driven anywhere, the tires being original may limit the miles. THERE PROBABLY IS NOT ANOTHER ORIGINAL LIKE THIS ONE ANY WHERE. Chrysler recalls 1.2 million Ram pickup trucks
Sat, 09 Nov 2013Chrysler has announced that it will issue three separate recalls that will cover as many as 1.2 million Ram pickup trucks for "steering-system tie rods that may have been misaligned during assembly or steering-system service." The vast majority of these trucks were sold in the United States, though some trucks in Mexico, Canada or overseas will be called in, as well.
The largest of the three recalls covers an estimated 842,400 model-year 2003-2008 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks. Two smaller campaigns will bring 294,000 model-year 2008-2012 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups, chassis cabs and 2008 Ram 1500 4x4 Mega Cabs; plus 43,500 model-year 2008-2012 Ram 4500 and 5500 4x4 chassis cabs into the dealer to be checked and repaired if necessary.
This is a very large recall, and Chrysler says it is "casting the net wider than necessary to identify those vehicles that require repair." The automaker estimates that "as many as 726,000 may not need repair."
Dodge Dart Mopar '13 special edition recalled over airbag woes
Mon, 09 Dec 2013Dodge is only building 500 examples of the black-and-blue Mopar '13 Dart, but the majority of them are now being recalled. Part of the Mopar upgrade included replacing the stock seat skins in the Dart with black and blue Katzkin leather, but the seat-mounted side airbags were reinstalled improperly during the upfitting process, which could affect the performance of the front seat side airbags.
According to the official National Highway Traffic Safety Administration bulletin, a total of 374 Mopar '13 cars are being recalled due to side airbags that might not deploy in a side-impact collision. There have been no reports of the airbags not going off, but Chrysler will still need to reinstall the bags to ensure proper deployment. 25,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango SUVs recalled over brake feel
Mon, 10 Mar 2014Chrysler has announced that it is recalling over 25,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs from several markets over concerns about brake feel under hard braking. The affected models are from the 2012 and 2013 model years, although the actual dates of production aren't available. 18,700 are in the US, while 825 are in Canada, 530 are in Mexico and a further 5,200 outside of North America.
According to a statement, Chrysler was informed of the issue by a component supplier for the Ready Alert Braking system, which primes the brakes in anticipation of an emergency stop. A component in the system was restricting the flow of brake fluid too much.
As Chrysler is quick to point out, the way the brakes functioned was in compliance with regulations and there are no reported cases of drivers losing braking power. Instead, the issue rests with what Chrysler calls a pedal feel that "was not consistent with customer expectations." So it would seem Chrysler is being proactive and fixing a problem not because there's a legal issue at work, but simply because it doesn't feel the way the manufacturer wants it to. Well done.
