Up for auction is a nice clean Original 1965 Dodge Dart GT 2 Door Hardtop. This is a 76,100 Original Mile car with the Bulletproof Charger 225 Slant 6 Engine and the Floor Console Shifted Automatic Transmission.  This 1965 Dart GT is equipped with Bucket Seats with the First Year Floor Console with the Original Automatic Floor Shifter that was made by Hurst for Chrysler, Power Steering, Manual Drum Brakes, Rare Factory Air Conditioning, Dual Rear-View Mirrors with the Chrysler Pentastar, Day/Night Interior Rearview Mirror, Retractable Front Seat Belts, AM Radio, Optional Padded Dash, Full Wheel Covers.....a Nicely Optioned 1965 Dart GT is a beautiful Color Combination of Code "WW1" White Paint with the Brilliant Red Bucket Seat Interior with the Cool Floor Console with the Hurst Manufactured Automatic Shifter which was by Hurst for Chrysler Corporation.  This is the first year for the Cool little Floor Console in a Dodge Dart and I have always loved the look of these Consoles.  This is a very Original 1965 Dodge Dart GT 2 Door Hardtop with a Beautiful Factory Original Color Combination and it's a Super reliable driver that can be enjoyed immediately. This Dart GT runs and drives great with Chrysler Corporations most durable & exceptionally reliable engine ever built in the 225 cubic inch Slant 6 or the Charger 225 as Dodge called it in 1965. This very attractive Dart GT is a wonderful driver and a good Original car.  The Dart GT runs, drives, stops and  steers nicely with everything working as it should. Every Light, Signal and Accessory works exactly as they should.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION & MECHANICAL UPGRADES & RECENT WORK

This Cool Dart GT is a great running and driving car. The "Charger 225" Slant Six engine runs very well with no unusual noises and no smoke. The engine starts easily and runs out nicely while the rebuilt Automatic Transmission shifts flawlessly.  The Dart GT drives up the road nicely and easily cruises along the Highway at speeds in excess of 70 mph without issue. The Dart steers nicely with the Power Steering which makes things easier for parking in tight spaces.  I've owned a couple of these Dart GT's over the last 35 years and I always found them to be lots of fun for cruising and quite easy to drive. The Dart drives nicely and steers easily with the Power Steering and the Manual Brakes stop the car easily. There has been quite a bit of recent mechanical work done to the Dart which includes Brake, Transmission, Air Conditioning and much more. The work that was done to the Dart GT was extensive and costly such as rebuilding the Automatic Transmission, completely rebuilding and or replacing just about all of the Brake Components. It also had the Factory Air Conditioning gone over to make it operate far better than it ever did from the Factory while maintaining the Factory Original appearance. The Air Conditioning received a New Modern High Efficiency Air Conditioning Compressor along with the Restoration of the Air Conditioning Condenser, Replacement of the High Pressure Air Conditioning Hoses/Lines, All New Factory Replacement Air Conditioning/Heater & Defroster Ducts under the Dash. The Radiator was flushed, pressure tested while two electric were added to optimize the operation of the Air Conditioning with one fan used to pull the cooler air into the engine compartment while the other fan pushes the hot air out of the engine compartment which as you know can get quite hot on a Summer day. This 1965 Dodge Dart GT 2 Door Hardtop is a nice clean reliable Driver that runs beautifully with everything working as it should. It's a nice clean Original car that has survived the last 49 years with very little in the way of changes. In fact the car is for the most part, very original with the exception of the upgraded air conditioning components and the addition of two nice aftermarket Radio Speakers that were added in the correct location in the Rear Package Tray retaining it's original appearance. I believe the previous owner had a newer AM-FM Stereo CD Player in the car at one time which explains the addition of the newer three way Speakers in the rear package tray which would make it easy for you to install your own modern Stereo system if you chose to do so.

ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, DRIVING CONDITION & ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS

The Drive-train in this 1965 Dart GT is excellent!  The Charger 225 engine runs great and the Floor Shifted Automatic Transmission shift perfectly with only a few thousands miles since the complete rebuild.  The "Charger 225" engine starts easily and runs nice and smooth as you'd expect from Chrysler's Famous Bullet-Proof Slant 6!  The engine makes absolutely no unusual noises and doesn't smoke.  The first time I drove this 1965 Dart GT was on it's maiden voyage back home to Pennsylvania which was nearly 200 miles and the Dart GT performed flawlessly. It was a great ride home in the Dart GT and the car just couldn't have performed any better with much of the driving done on the Pennsylvania Turnpike with speeds consistently ranging from 65-80 mph. Much of this trip was done in the evening as well so it was great to have absolutely every Dash Light working as it should and the same goes for all of the cars Gauges....all of the Gauges were working which really put my mind at ease because I was making a long trip in a car that I was not familiar with so having all of the Dash Lights & Gauges working on a long trip in the dark just made things comfortable and stress free.....just a wonderful trip with absolutely no problems.  The Dart GT runs and drives beautifully and I think the next caretaker will enjoy this Dart as it's not only a great driver but it's also an all around super cool car.  I might as well continue onto the cars electrical components. The Dart GT's electrical components all seem to be in great working condition as absolutely every light, signal and accessory worked except for the AM Radio.  I realize that the pictures show the car with the drivers side front parking light bulb out but it has since been replaced and all lights and signals work as they should.  The Headlight, High Beams, Low Beams, Taillights, Parking Lights, Turn Signals, Brake Lights, Dash Lights, Interior Dome Light, Console Gear Indicator Light , Heater/Defroster and Air Conditioning all work, Windshield Wipers, Gas Gauge, Amp Gauge, Temperature Gauge, Speedometer & Odometer all work.  The only things not working properly are the Factory Original AM Radio which I believe to need either the Fuse Replaced or it might just need to be plugged in as the previous owner did have an AM-FM CD Stereo in the car at one time as the 3 Way Speakers are still nicely mounted in the correct position in the rear Package Tray. The Turn Signals work just fine but the Turn Signal doesn't cancel properly when returning from a right turn. It's no big deal as I simply turn it off manually from the Turn Signal Stalk.   These are the only things not working and I believe I can straighten out the Radio situation before the auction ends.  It's amazing that all of the Electrical components still work as they should after 49 years or I should say just about everything.   It's a rarity to find a Classic car from this era where all of the Electrical components and accessories still work as they did from the factory!  This is a great little 1965 Dodge Dart GT that runs, drives, steers, stops and performs very well. It's just a great Classic Dodge Dart GT and not something you see everyday with Factory Air Conditioning.

BODY & PAINT, INTERIOR & TRIM, CHROME, GLASS

This 1965 Dodge Dart has a Nice Clean look and the body is in good condition. The Paint is the Correct Code "WW1" White as per the Original Fender Tag and has a Nice Clean Overall appearance. This Dart GT is an awesome Turnkey driver that can be enjoyed and driven proudly just the way it is.  The Interior has the Red Bucket Seats which were Standard with the GT Package although the Automatic Transmission was an Option as was the Floor Console.  The Stainless Steel and Aluminum Trim on this Dart GT is in Good original condition....especially for an unrestored original car. The Trim has a nice shine and looks quite nice for Original 49 year old trim.  The Stainless Steel and Aluminum Trim that surrounds all of the Windows and the Trim that runs down the Tops of the Fenders, Quarter Panels and over the Roof appears to be very nice Original trim.  The Original Grill has a nice clean appearance and the same goes for the Headlight Bezels although I believe there is a small ding on the lower section of the Passenger Headlight Bezel.  The Trunk Lid Finish Panel is in nice Original condition and looks great with no real damage that I'm aware although there could be something super minor that I missed. The Original Bumpers are Super Straight with Beautiful Chrome although the very top of the Front Bumper does have a thin line where it has some minor corrosion showing. It might even come right off with a little polishing or cleaning with chrome polish. The Rear Bumper is also Straight with Beautiful Chrome with a few very minor marks....overall, very Nice Original Bumpers and much better than average ....Great Driver quality.  The Original Wheel Opening Moldings have a nice clean look and are in very Good condition with a great shine and I believe 3 of the 4 are Super Nice with one having a small ding.  The Chrome Door Handles have some pitting on the flat sections which is typical of 49 year old handles but the Door Handles work fine and if you ever wanted to replace them then they are available at reasonable prices.  The Doors Open and Close just fine and they Lock and Unlock with the Original Keys.  The Windows roll up and Down just fine.  The Glass appears to be in Good Original condition and the Windshield is free of any cracks or damage.  The Side Glass and Back Window are in Good condition and although I don't think there are any issues, it's a 49 year old car so it may have some minor scratches on the side glass as they often do from their many years of service.  The Body appears to be nice and straight from front to rear.  The Paint looks nice although it has some nicks, chips and some minor scratches and there may be a couple of minor door dings.. nothing that's a big deal in my opinion. The Paint appears to be a repaint and appears the be the only repaint since the car was new. The Paint is the correct original White.  The Body is nice and solid overall with wonderful Original Floor Pans that were Factory Undercoated when the car was new. The Section of the Frame just in front of the Rear Tires where the Rear Leaf Spring mount are super nice and are showing the Factory Original White Paint. There are several places on the Frame Rails where it shows the Original Factory White Paint. There is very little rust on this car. There is a small spot towards the front of each door and a little spot behind the rear wheel on each side where the quarter panel wraps under the car. It is a very small spot on each side and could be left alone or you could easily have this little spot cleaned up, repaired and blown in with White Paint to match the rest of the car. This is super minor.... just wanted to stress this. The Original Lower Quarter Panels behind the rear wheels where the outer skins wrap under to meet the Trunk Extensions or Drop-Off's still have their Original Factory Tabs on the Original Sheet Metal  and the Original Trunk to Quarter Panel drop offs are Super nice.  The Trunk is free of any rust as you can see in the pictures. It's just a really solid 1965 Dart GT and finding nice solid Original cars like this is becoming very difficult.   The Trunk is Rock Solid with the Original Jack and there is a Radial Spare Tire in the same size as the Tires on the car so no need to worry should you get a flat as you have a good spare. The Original Jacking Instructions are still on the underside of the Trunk Lid.   The Taillight Bezels have some pitting on the Top Flat surfaces and I have another Pair of Bezels that will go with the car to replace the pitted Originals.  The Tires that are on the car have like New Tread and I don't think they have more than 5,000 Miles on them. The Tread looks like new although I'm not sure how old the Tires are. I can tell you that I have driven 500 miles on these tires including several trips on the Highway at speeds of 65 mph+ with no issues.
The Interior appears to be very Original and although it does show some wear, it still has a good original appearance. The Interior is 100% complete and looks to be original.  There are a couple of splits in the Factory Bucket Seats and the Original Carpeting is showing some wear although a Brand New Molded Red Carpet made by ACC is included with the car and can be seen in the large Box shown in the Trunk of the car.  The Original Rear Seat is in Good shape with the Original Factory Buttons on both the lower and upper portions of the Seat.  The Original Door Panels are in Nice condition with Nice Original Factory carpeting along the bottom of the Door Panels and they show very well. The Original Headliner is White and looks nice although there is some very minor discoloration but it's in otherwise very good condition and I wouldn't dare touch it.  It's just too nice. The Original Sun Visors are also White and appear to be in good clean original condition.   The Original Instrument Cluster and all of the Dash Bezels are uncut and appear to be in good overall condition with some wear from nearly 50 years of sun and temperature changes but they still look nice overall.  The Gauges all work as they should and the Original Dash Lights all work as does the Original Dome Light.  The Doors have the Original Dart GT emblems on the upper section of the Doors above the Door Panels.  The Rear Seat appears to be in excellent condition and I don't remember seeing any rips or tears.  The Steering Wheel is complete with the Original Chrome Horn Ring and although the Chrome Horn Ring is still very nice, the steering wheel does have some cracking which is also very typical for these cars.  The Original Trunk Mat was starting to come apart so I removed it but a New Trunk Mat will come with the car.   This is just a good Original 1965 Dart GT that has an Outstanding Original Color Combination in the White over Red and it is an Excellent driving car.  It runs out great and handles well for a 1965 Dart.   It's a good solid car overall and I think the New Owner/Caretaker will be very Happy with his or her new Toy.    Check out the many pictures and feel free to email me with any questions or concerns.

                                                OVERVIEW

This is a very Original 1965 Dodge Dart GT with 76,000 Original Miles or so I was told that the mileage is Original and I have absolutely no reason to believe otherwise.  The receipts that I have for the work that was done to the car over the last couple of years total more than $3,000 and the Transmission was Rebuilt at a cost of $1,100 although I don't have the receipt for the rebuild but there is no doubt that the Transmission was rebuilt and when I picked up the car from the 72 year old brother of the former owner, he was not only a pleasure to deal with but he was as honest as the day is long.  The Owner before him is said to be an engineer who had the car for years and who also took great pride in owning this 1965 Dart GT. I was told that he had quite a bit of work done to the Dart.  I will dig out all of the receipts over the next few days and list all of the work that was done to the Dart GT.  The car was religiously maintained by it's two previous owners.   The "Charger 225" Slant Six engine runs beautifully and the Transmission shifts like new as it should with the recent rebuild.  The car has a very nice clean overall appearance and was never a rusty car. It's a very solid original car with a few very small spots that are minor by anyone's standards.... really minor stuff and nothing that needs to be addressed immediately. Enjoy the car for a couple of car Seasons before you consider even touching any of this stuff... just my opinion but these little spots are barely noticeable.  The car has nice Original Trim with attractive Original Bumpers, Grill & Headlight Bezels... Nice Original Trunk Finish Panel... Nice Original Roof Drip Rail Polished Stainless Steel and clean Upper Quarter Panel, Upper Door and Upper Fender Trim.  The car has nice Original Wheel Opening Moldings.... Nice Original Stone Guards in front of the rear wheel openings... Nice Original Full Wheel Covers. The Tires look like new and can't have more than 5,000 miles on them... if that! The Exhaust is quiet and the engine sounds good through the back Tailpipe. The Brakes are all recently done. All of the Electrical Components work as they should.  The Trunk is beautiful with nice Painted Trunk Floor, Nice Spare Tire, Nice Complete Original Jack, Original Instructions... just a Super Clean Original Trunk Pan and Beautiful Rust Free Spare Tire Well.  The Lights and Signals all work, Headlight, High & Low Beams, Working Taillights, Working Parking Lights, Working Brake Lights, Working Turn Signals, Working Dash Lights, Working Interior Dome Light, Working Gas Gauge, Working Temperature Gauge, Working Amp Gauge, Working Speedometer & Odometer, Working Windshield Wipers, Working Cigarette Lighter, Working Heater, Working Defroster with New Heater/Defroster Ducts, Working Floor Console Gear Indicator Light.  The Doors Lock & Unlock with the Keys. The Trunk Opens and Closes easily with the Keys.... Windows Roll Up & Down, Working Vent Windows, Working under Dash Fresh Air Vents.   This 1965 Dodge Dart GT is a nice little car that's a whole lot of fun to drive and it's one of those cars that turns heads and is a serious Head Turner that never fails to start conversations with complete Strangers whether you sitting at a Traffic Light or Pumping Gas. Let's face it, just about everyone, knows somebody who has owned a Classic Dodge Dart over the last 6 decades so your not going to stop anywhere in this car without somebody wanting to talk about your car!     It's just a cool Classic 1965 Dart GT that should bring you many years of enjoyment whether it be used as your daily driver, weekend fair weather driver, local cruise night or car club gathering car.  It's just flat-out cool and loads of fun.  It's a great old car but like any other car that's approaching it's 50th Birthday, there are always things to do or things that can be done to improve the car.  I will get into more detail within the next few days but I think you should be able to get a fairly good idea as to what kind of car this is as well as the overall condition of the car. There won't be any disappointments with this Classic Dart GT if you have realistic expectations. It's a great little car but it's a very original car and not a restored car so it's not perfect but it's a reliable Dart GT and it's priced reasonably.    Thanks so much for looking over this auction and feel free to email me with any questions or call Tony 215-499-2693

I have been an active Ebay Trader for the last 13 years 8 months and I just recently received Negative Feedback. This was one of the warmer days that we had last week when temperatures went into the low 40's and the remains of two minor snow storms were fast melting away.  The cool lines of the 65 Dart GT is one of the things that always attracted me to these cars. They have a lot of trim and one of my favorite pieces is the Halo trim across the roof which was factory installed on all 1965 Dart GT 2 Door Hardtops. If you opted for either the Two-Tone Paint or a Vinyl Roof then the Halo trim is what separated the 3/4 Vinyl or secondary paint color

The Carpets actually have minimal wear but there is some discoloration from the sun. This car was Produced while Lyndon Baines Johnson was the President of the United States.... does this put things into perspective?

John Schneider's General Lee Dodge Charger up for auction

Thu, Jun 25 2015

Over 150 years after it was first adopted, the Confederate flag is disappearing from license plates, state-legislature flagpoles, and even toy cars across the American South. While some are ready to bury those Stars and Bars forever as a symbol of racism and slavery, others will miss them as an emblem of freedom. Regardless of where you stand, the emergence of this particular vehicle on the auction block couldn't have come at a more poignant time. It's a 1969 Dodge Charger, and as you can see it's been done up just like the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard. While it may not be one of the cars used in the original television series, it's not without its provenance. The vehicle is the last of four that were customized by John Schneider, the actor who – long after the rebel flag ceases to fly – will forever be remembered for his portrayal of Bo Duke on that timeless television show. It's painted orange, emblazoned with the number 01 on the doors, the words "Bo's General Lee" above each window, and that controversial flag on the roof. It also features signatures and messages inscribed by Schneider, as well as by Sonny Shroyer (who played Deputy Enos Strate on the show), and by sportscaster and former pro basketball player Jalen Rose who once owned the car. It appeared alongside Schneider in commercials and films, and in the pages of the Mopar Collector's Guide. Now it's set to be sold off to the highest bidder this weekend by Invaluable Auctions and Julien's Auctions, where it's expected to fetch between $200,000 and $300,000 – assuming the latest controversies don't hinder its chances.

Dodge to reveal Hellcat-powered Challenger in Detroit?

Fri, 10 Jan 2014

On top of all the other performance car debuts slated for next week's Detroit Auto Show, we might be able to add one more to the list - the new, supercharged Hellcat V8 from Chrysler. According to new reports, the rumored 640-horsepower mill is likely to cross the Motor City stage in the engine bay of a Dodge Challenger.
As AllPar points out, though, there may be more news than just the fire-breathing engine. While we've seen spy photos of the Hellcat testing under the hood of the current Challenger, there's a very fair chance that it won't arrive until the muscle car is refreshed later this year. The question now is whether that refresh will be shown off alongside the new engine in Detroit, or if it'll be saved, perhaps for the New York Auto Show.
Other details dug up by AllPar include potential transmissions for the supercharged engine - the Mopar-minded site is expecting an eight-speed automatic or a Tremec six-speed manual. Prices, meanwhile, could be in the same elevated range as the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, at $70,000 to $80,000.

Dodge Viper ACR reportedly green lit [w/video]

Fri, Feb 6 2015

The Dodge Viper might be getting a little more venomous in the near future thanks to a return of the performance-honed ACR trim. According to an anonymous source leaking the info to Allpar, the version would go into production in July as a 2016 model year vehicle. FCA US showed a concept for a future ACR (pictured above) at the 2014 SEMA Show that sported carbon fiber parts for the front splitter and dive planes, plus a picnic-table-sized rear wing. The body also received ducts at the rear to shoot cool air to the differential. A set of 15.4-inch carbon-ceramic brake rotors also brought things to a halt in a hurry. The company promised all the aero pieces were sculpted in the wind tunnel to give the coupe even more downforce. To shed weight, engineers chucked the radio, speakers, carpet and sound deadening out of the interior, and they replaced many bits with even more carbon fiber. All of the tweaks are necessary because the ACR moniker carries serious cachet for the Viper at the track, especially at the Nurburgring. One reportedly did a 7:22 lap around the 'Ring in 2008, and another improved that further to 7:12 in 2011. Autoblog reached out to FCA US for comment about the possibility for the hotter Viper, but the company wasn't willing to comment about any possible, future projects. Related Video:
