I spent much $$$$ on ebay looking to upgrade pieces when I could find them. Although not an original Max wedge this car has a history of being a max wedge race car most of it’s previous life, the former 2 owners never registered it. I bought this car 9 years ago. I decided to do a conservation on it, doing everything necessary while still keeping the old school raced-bred appearance. The last 9 years have been a labor of love, time and money well spent on refurbishing the exterior , interior mechanicals. engine and trim pieces, to get it to where it is today. Today it is what it is, a retired race car that’s used for local cruise nights and car shows. It had a 1966 426- block in it when I bought it but after a few years it froze a rod bearing -that’s when I was told it also had a cracked crank I decided it made more sense to replace it with a professionally rebuilt 440 short block that could runs on pump gas and and add some cubic inches. While it was apart I had the stage III 518 max heads re-done by S&K speed and ordered a new comp cam, lifters, roller rockers, push rods, springs, shafts. $$$$ later it runs great (pictures of heads and block before assembly included) It starts every time, it’s loud. It has a strong stable idle (about 1000 rpm), it doesn’t stall. Shifts easy just push 1-2-3- It’s great around town. (it’s a piece of theater ) It’s reliable and it’s faster than it needs to be It’s gets more than it’s share of attention at cruise nights and car shows. Head lights, low & high beam, tail lights, parking & backup lights, signals, horn, wipers, dash lights, dome light, speedometer/odometer, temp gauge, voltage gauge, oil pressure gauge--all work. What doesnt work: the clock---the radio -no speakers are hooked up to it (it’s too loud anyway)---choke-there are no chokes in the 750 edelbrock carbs (more air)---emergency brake- not hooked up ( less drag) use Park $500 pay pal deposit is required from auction winner. Electronic transfer, cashiers-check or cash required for balance of payment within 8 business days of the end of auction.. Buyer is responsible for transportation. This is an auction there are no guarantees or returns so please make sure that this is what you want before you bid. I have taken the time to carefully describe this car and include a substantial number of photos. However, it is very important to keep in mind that it is pre-owned, not brand new. After carefully reading the entire description, rather than making a potentially incorrect assumption if any statement or comment is unclear, or if you have questions, please e-mail me prior to bidding. |

Dodge Challenger Scat Pack adds power and noise, with a warranty
Thu, 17 Apr 2014If you want to go fast, there's certainly nothing wrong with the Dodge Challenger SRT8. With 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque for 2014, there's certainly not much to complain about. But what if you want something more aftermarket in flavor? There's no shortage of options, but while turning to the tuner world will make your car plenty fast, that extra power won't just shred rear tires, it'll torch your warranty, as well. That's where Dodge's Scat Pack comes in.
With three stages of mods for both the 5.7 and 6.4-liter Hemi V8s Challenger (as well as the 5.7-liter Charger and, soon, the four-pot Dart), the Scat Pack cars give drivers all the power, aggression and noise of a heavily modded aftermarket car while maintaining the piece of mind provided by the Dodge warranty.
Power gets bumped up to 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque with the 6.4-liter Scat Pack, while the 5.7-liter can provide up to 58 hp and 47 lb-ft of torque to add to the stock engine's 375 horsepower and 410 pound-feet. It's the latter engine that can really get some work done, with upgrades ranging from the mundane - intake and exhaust - to the racy, like the ported heads and high-flow headers.
Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you
Thu, 21 Feb 2013As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
Hellcat no help to Fiat-Chrysler's bottom-of-the-pile mpg average
Wed, Oct 15 2014What, you expected the "fastest muscle car ever" to help fleetwide fuel economy? Nope, don't think that's going to happen. That means Fiat Chrysler will likely to continue to languish at the bottom of the heap when it comes to fleetwide fuel economy among the largest automakers serving the US, especially as the automaker starts to sell its Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. A few hundred Fiat 500E electric vehicles aren't going to turn the trend around. See, Chrysler has once again finished at the bottom of the list when it came to fleetwide fuel economy among automakers for 2014 model-year vehicles, according to a preliminary study by the US Environmental Protection Agency. Chrysler and Fiat had an average of 21.1 miles per gallon. That substantially lagged the overall 24.2 mpg average, but it was an increase from the company's 20.9 mpg average last year and the 20.1 mpg average two years prior. For 2014, General Motors had the second-worst fleetwide fuel economy at an even 22 mpg. Fiat Chrysler does say it's working on improving its fuel economy, according to Automotive News. The company plans on making its inline-four-cylinder and V6 engines smaller, and will sell more vehicles with eight- and nine-speed transmissions. Heck, there's even a plug-in hybrid version of the Chrysler Town & Country minivan in the works for late 2015, and the company can tout fuel-efficiency gains with the Chrysler 200 and Jeep Cherokee. We would be remiss if we didn't note that, compared to its muscle-car forefathers, the Hellcat actually performs pretty well at the pump. Last month, word got out that the 2015 Challenger Hellcat, equipped either with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission, got a combined fuel economy of 16 mpg. Heck, the automatic-tranny version got 22 mpg on the highway. And that's for a car with 707 horsepower and a 10-second quarter-mile time. Still, with the pedal floored, the car can burn a gallon and a half of fuel per minute. Ouch.
