1962 Dodge Dart 440 Convertible With Many Extra Parts on 2040-cars
Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, United States
This auction, with low reserve, is for a very rare 1962 Dodge Dart 440 Convertible. I have had this car for about 25 years with the plan to restore it, but never got around to it. The auction will include many spare parts including: Left and Right rear quarter panels, Left and Right front fenders, Left and right inner fenders, Tail Light bezels, gauge and speedometer assembly, a 318 engine, and more. The sheet metal parts and engine were purchased in Florida and are solid except for a little rust along bottom edge. The doors, windows, hood, and trunk lid on the Dart all seem to be solid. The floor in this Dart (particularly rear seat) needs to be replaced. Also, about 20 years ago a wheel and axel shop did some welding , I believe on the torsion bar system, and now the drivers door pinches and does not open. This can be fixed by undoing the welding or by adjustment on the fenders when or if they are replaced. The Dart needs the brake cylinders and probably the master cylinder rebuilt. This car hasn't been driven in three years, since the brakes went out. It has been stored inside since I've had it. The fuel pump and starter were replaced three years ago. The gas float and filter assembly in the fuel tank were replaced 4 years ago. The seat covers need some work. The convertible top is dirty but is solid and the hydraulic pump works. The top does need new window seals though. The car also needs a set of tires. All in all this is an excellent project car and a rare one too. I hate to part with it, but we are moving and have to downsize-meaning I have to get rid of some toys. This is the second 1962 Dodge Dart Convertible that I have owned. The first was in the late 60's until I went in the Army. When I saw this one in the late 80's, I had to have it. I haven't seen another "62 Dart Convertible since, including in car shows. I am selling this car and all extra parts, as is, with what I believe to be a low reserve. Buyer to pay and arrange all shipping costs. I have included many pictures of the car and extra parts. If you have any questions, please email or call me at 920-276-2012 or 262-490-5398. Thanks for looking and Good Luck with your bid!

Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat's 707 storming horses can be yours for $60k
Wed, 16 Jul 2014We love a good deal on high performance. It's what traditionally makes muscle cars so appealing - you get lots of speed, for not a lot of money. For 2015, Dodge has taken this to its logical extreme, offering its new 707-horsepower, supercharged, V8-powered Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat for just $59,900. For those wondering, that works out to just about $85 per horsepower, which when compared with a typical budget performance car, like the $24,995, 210-hp Volkswagen GTI ($119 per hp), demonstrates the Hellcat's astonishing value.
The information was revealed by a photo (click on the inset image to expand) taken at this week's Portland launch event (our man Seyth Miersma is just now on the ground and will have a full report on the madness that is the Hellcat soon) for the entire 2015 Challenger range, and reveals the Hellcat's price alongside its high-powered competitors from Ford and Chevrolet.
The discontinued 662-hp Mustang GT500 started at $56,000, while the 580-hp Camaro ZL1 starts off at $58K. Indeed, the only muscle car that outprices the Hellcat is the track-focused Camaro Z/28, a car that we're guessing could still wallop the Hellcat on the right piece of track, despite being down over 200 hp.
Ram exec: first 30-mpg pickup truck will 'win'
Fri, Aug 8 2014It is totally possible, today, to take the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel pickup truck, load it up with gear and people, and drive it from Texas to Michigan while getting 38 miles per gallon. We know because we did it. Officially, though, the 1500 gets just 20 mpg combined. A more impressive number is the 28 mpg on the highway. Bob Hegbloom, the Ram brand director, thinks that there's a more important fuel economy target to hit: 30 mpg. Whichever truck company can manage that feat, he recently told Automotive News, "wins." It's kind of an obvious thing to say, but in the 1500 with both the EcoDiesel and the V6 Pentastar engine, Hegbloom said, "fuel economy is so important." Hegbloom didn't promise that the next EcoDiesel truck will manage to get on up over the 30 hump, but he did say that Ram is not sitting still when it comes to fuel economy. "I just want to have continuous improvement and to keep gaining every day," he said. "We sat still in the past and it doesn't lead to a great place."
