I am selling my 2004 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab pickup as the boat I planned to tow it with isn't going to happen.  The truck is in good condition, and has many features.  I have been using it as an everyday commuter; it doesn't have any issues and is very reliable.  We have used it for our family of four, including 2 x young children with car seats with plenty of room.  It has had regular service, and recently had all fluids flushed and changed (axles, transfer case, transmission, engine oil).  The price I have listed is fair, the other trucks you see online that are way below this one do not have the V8 or tow package, or have horrible mileage.  Kelly Blue Book has this vehicle listed, in good condition, to a private party sale, as $9500.  If it was purchased for my list price, depending on your credit and terms for financing, it would cost approximately $115 a month to finance (at 3.99% for 60 months).
As a side note, this vehicle, while excellent, was once stolen and recovered.  As such, it once held a "rebuilt" title; this will not affect finance of the vehicle in any way, but it does allow you to get this vehicle at a lower price than the same model vehicle that has not gone through this process.  Don't take my word for it, check out what Kelly Blue Book has to say about rebuilt title vehicles (listed below).  Note that they recommend a 20-40% discount for salvaged vehicles; mine is priced at just over a 26% discount ($9500-26.5%=$6983), and the 20-40% is for vehicles that have some kind of past damage, not just a rebuilt title.  This truck has never been in an accident; only a few states list stolen/recovered vehicles as "rebuilt", Maryland and Pennsylvania are among those that do, hence your win at a lower price.  I'm a fair guy, show me a vehicle with the same options at a cheaper price within 100 miles of my location and I will negotiate.
I am pricing this truck to sell quickly.  Aside from the below stock options, it also has the following after market items:

Oversized Wheels (lots of life left in them, over 3/4 tread left)
Mud flaps
Running boards
Spray in bed-liner
Window visors on all four doors
Hands free bluetooth phone and music streaming (stream music from your phone to the stereo via bluetooth)
Sony stereo with iPhone controls

Stock Options:
117K miles
Automatic Transmission
4x4
V8, 4.7L
4 Door
5'6' Bed
Cloth Seats (excellent condition)
2 x key fobs (alarm and keyless entry)
Dual Airbags
Power Steering
Power Windows, Locks, Mirrors
Premium Rims
Tow Package, which includes the following:
     7-Pin Wiring Harness
     Auxiliary In-Tank Transmission Oil Cooler
Heating Element for the Exterior Mirrors
     Heavy Duty Engine Cooling
     Heavy Duty Service Group
     Class IV Hitch Receiver
     Power Steering Cooler

KBB Salvage Vehicles:

"My car is in good condition, but has a "salvage" title. How does that affect the value?

A salvaged, reconstructed or otherwise "clouded" title has a permanent negative effect on the value of a vehicle. The industry rule of thumb is to deduct 20% to 40% of the Blue Book value, but salvage title vehicles really should be privately appraised on a case-by-case basis in order to determine their market value."

Dodge Charger R/T NHRA Funny Car is ready to burn rubber at SEMA [w/video]

Wed, 05 Nov 2014

The Dodge Charger R/T is all set to rocket down the drag strip in NHRA Funny Car competition with a completely redesigned body debuting at this year's SEMA Show. While only the front decal, side scallops and rear logo really signal this racer as a Charger, that doesn't take away from its promise of hitting absolutely ludicrous speeds.
The engineers' biggest tweak to the body was moving the cockpit further back. This created more clearance under the hood, and the change came with added advantage of giving the driver better visibility out of the car. Composites like Kevlar also helped make the one-piece shell even lighter, while not sacrificing strength.
The new design has already undergone extensive time in the wind tunnel and real-world runs to make sure that none of the changes negatively impacted the aerodynamics. With those tests out of the way, the Charger R/T Funny Car will have the first chance to truly prove itself in NHRA competition at the 2015 Winternationals from February 5-9 at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, CA.

Dodge Journey gets more SUV-like look with new Crossroad model

Fri, 31 Jan 2014

Looking to play up its aging three-row crossover, Dodge will introduce a new model for its Journey franchise at next week's Chicago Auto Show. The 2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad will be a new trim level positioned between the SXT and Limited, and it will be distinguished from other Journey models thanks to a handful of styling add-ons.
Plucking a page right out of the appearance playbook of the Ford Explorer Sport, the Journey Crossroad gets a meaner, more SUV-like demeanor. The Journey has often straddled the line between tall wagon and crossover, but this new trim goes a long way toward skewing its visuals toward the utility vehicle end of the spectrum. That's thanks largely to the Platinum chrome exterior trim on its roof rails and side sills, unique fascias, smoked headlights and taillights and, of course, those black 19-inch wheels. Inside, the Journey Crossroad will get a similar treatment, with darker, Liquid Graphite accents throughout the cabin, and the model will also come standard with leather seats (which Dodge says are a new design), and Chrysler's giant 8.4-inch Uconnect screen.
The 2014 Journey Crossroad goes on sale this spring with a starting price of $24,995 (*not including $995 for destination) for the four-cylinder, front-wheel-drive model, but Dodge says that the model will also be offered with more power and capability from the optional 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and all-wheel-drive. Scroll down for the full press release, and check back next week for our live coverage from Chicago.

Why the Charger Hellcat can't be ordered with a manual transmission

Sun, 16 Nov 2014

Fans of truly irreverent amounts of horsepower will find lots to love in the form of the 2015 Dodge Challenger and Charger Hellcat models. Both of them send 707 ridiculous horsepower to the rear wheels; the only question is whether you want your absurdity delivered with two or four doors. Oh, and whether or not you want the option of a manual transmission.
If you prefer rowing your own gears, the choice is made for you; there is no manual gearbox option available on the Charger Hellcat, or any Charger model at all, for that matter. Wonder why? Well, besides the fact that almost nobody - sorry, clutch fans, but it's true - would choose to buy a Charger with a manual transmission, that is? The answer, according to an industry insider in a post written on Jalopnik's Opposite Lock forum, is the floorpan.
It's probably not a surprise to most of our readers that the Dodge Challenger and Charger share a large portion of their chassis structure, which is codenamed LX at Chrysler, but there are still some significant differences under the skin due to the shorter wheelbase and two-door coupe bodyshell of the Challenger, as opposed to the sedan shape of the Charger. One of the differences is the floorpan, the huge chunk of sheetmetal that makes up the floor of the car and props up such essential items as the car's seats.
