     *1989 Dodge 4x4 Sport Dakota Convertible*

* Relisted from 4/22/14, as overnight, eBay had an issue with a stated condition of payment.  Apologies to those that had already bid. *

Before you and up for bid is my 1989 Dodge Dakota Sport Convertible 4x4 Truck, it's a rare bird...the particulars of the truck are as follows:

*  In 1988, Dodge contracted with the American Sunroof Corp., (ASC), for a 3 year run of Dakota convertible trucks.  These were offered in 2WD & 4WD variants with a 5-speed transmission.  Supposedly, there were more 2WD's built than 4WD, I can't imagine wanting a 2WD, but, that's what makes a horse race.  The only options were AC and an automatic transmission.  The run is purported to have consisted of 2842 trucks in 1989, 909 in 1990, and just 8 in 1991.

*  We leased and then purchased off lease, four of these trucks from K&M Northfield Dodge, in Grand Rapids for two lodges in Michigan and Colorado.

*  Garaged & pampered non-smoker, no pets, and consistent routine preventive maintenance.

*  All original throughout with NO accident history, (CARFAX certified) 100% factory paint that still has a very nice reflective finish. (see pics to illustrate)

*  ONLY 85,424 actual miles!

*  A solid truck throughout, guaranteed to be ZERO RUST!  The truck was not driven in winter conditions and therefore not exposed to salt or mag chloride chemicals.  These trucks were reported at that time to have utilized the most corrosive resistant material ever in a Dodge.

*  Other than the aforementioned choices for rear or 4 wheel drive and transmission preference, save for color choice, these trucks essentially came one way.

*  3.9 liter V6, the engine bay is clean, the engine fires right up, holds a smooth idle and has very good compression (155-162).  There are NO annoying drips or leaks.  Recent serviced with fresh fluids, hoses, belts, plugs, and filters.

*  Automatic transmission, shifts smoothly through all transitions.

*  Gauge package, all are fully functional.

*  ICE COLD AC, fully functional heat, defrost and ventilation

*  Power windows & locks, all operate properly

*  Cruise control, operable

*  Factory AM/FM/Cassette stereo w/4 speakers, it plays fine.

*  Shift on the fly 4WD, operates properly in both low and high

*  Leather wrapped tilt steering wheel

*  The dash does have a couple of hairline cracks, (see pic) DASHMAT protective cover.

*  The interior rates a 9.5 out of 10.  The velour seats are in excellent condition as they were always covered, and show virtually no wear.

*  Excellent carpet, no wear, stains or fading.  Weather mats included.

*  Excellent door panels

*  All safety features are fully operational, horn, wipers, high & low beams, directionals, emergency flashers, etc.

*  All weather stripping is soft and pliable

*  All original glass, no cracks, one small windshield chip out of the field of vision and epoxy resin repaired.

*  Padded factory rollbar

*  The manual top is the factory original and in great shape.  There are no leaks, holes, or seam separations.  Non-clouded rear window.  Easy lowering process, up or down in under 10 seconds.

*   All knobs, stalks, buttons, etc., are present, none are broken or missing.

*  PENDALINER bed liner

*  2" bumper mounted ball, these trucks are not tow horses, however, they will capably tow a small boat or jet ski.

*  Factory Sport alloy wheels, all are in good shape w/no curb rash, all 4 tires have approx. 50% tread wear remaining, they are not mismatched.

*  Original full size spare, jack and tire tool located in pouch behind the seat.

*  Original DAKOTA factory brochure, owners manual, warranty book, supplemental operational pamphlets, and two sets of keys.

While the DAKOTA has a couple of door dings along with some minor scratches & scuffs, (see pics), at 25 years of age, it looks, runs and drives great!  In addition, there is a dent smaller than a raquet ball located at the top front center of the bed.  This was an oversight yesterday as the top was folded down.

Being the first convertible trucks offered in America since 1934, they attract a wide range of attention from bewilderment to consistant thumb ups and "cool" comments.  Enthusiasts are aware that DODGE built 'em, however, with 25 years having now passed since their arrival, there's a generation unfamilair with their existance.

You are bidding to purchase the SPORT DAKOTA, not to be the first to "look at it".  Inspections are welcome and will be facillitated to the best of my ability prior to the auction concluding.  Thank you.

Please have your funding in place prior to placing your bid.  Thank you.

Please consult with your spouse, therapist, pet or Magic 8-Ball prior to placing your bid, as I am not running a clinic for the confused.  Thank you.

I have set a reasonable reserve for the DAKOTA.  It is commensurate with the ownership history, the present condition it is in, the care it has received, and the low miles.  Please DO NOT ask what the reserve is, as I will not disclose it.  Bid what you can afford and are willing to pay for the nice 1989 DODGE Sport Dakota  Convertible 4x4 truck that you see before you.

A $1000.00 initial payment is due and payable VIA PayPal within 24 hours of auction close.  No exceptions.

The balance is then due and payable within 7 days thereafter under condition and arrangement made between myself and the buyer.

I prefer a legitimate bank to bank wire transfer as it provides a documented record of the transaction for both parties.

I will only accept PayPal for the initial $1000.00 payment.

The DODGE and I are located in the Colorado Springs vicinity.

Transportation and/or shipping is the sole responsibility of the buyer.

I am confident that the DAKOTA could be driven home safely to anywhere in America.  If you choose to fly in and drive home, I will gladly pick you up from the airport in Colorado Springs.

Trailered delivery is possible within the lower 48 states for $1000.00. (non-negotiable)

I can recommend a reputable shipper for you, if needed.

*IMPORTANT*

If you are new to eBay, have 0% feedback, excessive negative feedback, years of inactivity on eBay, or less than 10 quality transactions...YOU will need to CALL ME prior to placing your bid to express your intentions, otherwise your bid will be cancelled and you will be blocked from further bidding.

This simple guideline is in place to protect the integrity of the auction from non-paying bidders.  I am a legitimate seller simply seeking a legitimate buyer.

eBay provides for only 24 pictures.  I have selected pictures that best present a concise overview of the truck.  If you would like any area specific pictures, simply request them.

I answer my phone quicker than I respond to e-mail.  If you have any questions, call me directly.  If you reach my voice mail, leave me a brief message and I will return your call promptly.

The truck & title will not be released until payment in full has been received.

I am not a dealer, I am a collector/hobbyist that is downsizing from my personal vehicles.  Those that have purchased my vehicles are consistantly pleased with their purchases, their expectations exceeded.  100% eBay satisfaction rating.

Given the age of the Dakota, the truck is sold in "as is" condition with no expressed, written or implied warranties.

Clear Colorado title in my name.

If you would like to discuss a "buy it now", call me and PRESENT your offer.  DO NOT call and ask me, "what's the lowest that you'll take?"

Buyers from the U.S., Canada, the UK, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand are welcome and encouraged to bid with confidence.

Thanks for looking and good luck when you bid on this RARE 1989 DODGE Sport Dakota 4x4 Convertible Truck!

Jeff

Dodge celebrates big B-day with 100th Anniversary Editions muscle cars

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

Being in business for 100 years is a HUGE milestone, so we hope Dodge has more in mind to celebrate its centennial than just a special edition package for the 2014 Charger and Challenger. Called the 100th Anniversary Edition package, this collection of cosmetic enhancements will be available in limited quantities for both cars at a cost of $2,500.
Ordering a Charger or Challenger with the 100th Anniversary Edition package means starting with either a V6-powered SXT Plus or V8-powered R/T Plus model. They can each be ordered in many colors, but only the High-Octane Red Pearl Coat above is an anniversary exclusive. Each car also comes with an anniversary-exclusive set of 20-inch, five-spoke wheels with what Dodge calls "Granite Crystal pockets," a texture that's also mirrored on each car's grille.
Of course, there are commemorative badges galore affixed to the exterior of each car, including "Dodge Est. 1914" fender badges and "100" logos on the center caps of each wheel. The styling theme of each car's interior is a bit more interesting, with Dodge designers trying to evoke "the patina and machinist legacy of John and Horace Dodge," the company's founders. To that end, the leather interior can be had in Molten Red or Foundry Black Nappa, and each features a custom cloud overprint that makes the hide look like a working man's dirty dungarees. Designers also used brass-colored accent stitching on the interior's leather trim pieces, and affixed more "Dodge Est. 1914" badges to the front seat backs and floor mats. We do like the flat-bottomed steering wheel, and the Challenger 100th Anniversary Edition gets exclusive white gauges faces and the Charger black. The "100" on each car's speedometer is also highlighted in red.

Highway To Hellcat: Dallas to Vegas with 2,000 HP

Thu, Jan 15 2015

Fort Davis, TX. Early November. Late Sunday afternoon. The 1,200 residents of this small town are using their day of rest to quietly enjoy the breeze rolling off the hills. There's an older couple walking down the street, holding hands. A young lady working at a general store, where milkshakes and antacids are purchased at the same counter. It's a peaceful, quaint scene, right down to the tumbleweed rolling across the street and the rickety wooden porches outside the old storefronts. I hit the throttle of the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat while turning left onto the road leading toward the town square, sending the sedan's rear end swinging to the right with a few puffs of rubbery smoke. I coast down to the 25-mile-per-hour speed limit and spot the line of Challengers, Chargers, and Vipers in my rear-view mirror, the drivers all mimicking my quick jolt of enthusiasm before pulling up the reigns on their V8s and V10s and idling into Fort Davis. Our posse would roll some 5,000 horsepower of pure American muscle into that small Texas town that day. It was only the first stop on an epic journey that would take us from Dallas to Las Vegas, on a winding route down toward El Paso, up through New Mexico, Arizona, and finally north into Nevada, ending at the ritzy Palazzo casino and hotel on the Vegas strip. It was an opportunity to see parts of America I never knew existed, and a chance to bond with some American cars that until recently, I sort of failed to understand. And most importantly it was an opportunity to drive really, really hard. Charging Through Texas Unless you've driven across it, it's hard to understand the massive space that is Texas. In places, scanning 360 degrees of horizon reveals absolutely nothing. Nothing. On its own, driving from Dallas to El Paso covers some 630 miles. Veer south to Fort Davis and you'll add another 70 onto that, not including the 75-mile Davis Mountain Scenic Loop where I found bliss behind the wheel of this insanely powerful sedan. I always expected to like the Charger Hellcat – comfortable seating for four (five in a pinch), equipped with the latest tech, wrapped in a stylish yet muscular body, like a quarterback in a tux. And it moves. The supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 pumps out 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, which makes for one quick sedan, especially considering its heft.

Chrysler extending production of current Dodge Avenger, Jeep Wrangler, Grand Caravan

Wed, 24 Jul 2013

Are you hesitant to pull the trigger on a brand new Dodge Avenger in hopes that a new one will be coming? Well, don't hold your breath. According to The Detroit News, Chrysler will be extending production of the current Avenger sedan through the end of 2015.
Originally, we heard that the company would kill the Avenger to better focus its midsize sedan efforts on the Chrysler 200 replacement. But then new reports stated there would indeed be an Avenger successor, and that we could see it as early as next January. This Detroit News report cites supplier sources confirming the extension of Avenger production, though Chrysler has not released an official statement on the matter.
These same suppliers say that the current Jeep Wrangler will live on through mid-2018 - that's right, another five years. The Detroit News reports that a replacement for the iconic, go-anywhere Jeep was due in mid-2016.
