'95 Dodge Dakota Sport Short Bed 4 Cylinder Engine No Reserve on 2040-cars

Up for sale is my 1995 Dodge Dakota Sport Short Bed. I bought this truck 9 years ago (if memory serves) and used it to commute to school. It has never been abused and has only seen pavement and a few gravel roads. After I graduated it got me to and from my first job reliably. It would always start, ran perfectly, and never gave me any problems. The exact day that I bought a new truck, it blew a gasket and started pouring white smoke. Since I had a new vehicle I didn't bother to fix it. Since it was such a good truck for me, I want to give someone else the chance to own it, drive it, and love it like I have.

When I parked it two months ago everything (except the blown gasket in the engine obviously) worked perfectly. I have no doubt that once fixed it will be a great little truck for years to come. I performed regular maintenance on it, and did all small repairs myself. I will try and give a full and accurate list of all the positive things, and the negative things. If you have any other questions, feel free to send me a message via eBay, or txt / call me at 660-281-6505. Please no soliciting =P

Positives:
Very reliable. Started whenever I turned the key, and drove wherever I pointed it.
Got 25-27 miles to the gallon. (no joke, I kept track religiously!)
Got around in all the snow and ice that we have in MO without a problem.
Has a 10in subwoofer and updated Pioneer speakers / header combo.
Upholstery is in good shape. No rips or tears, just a few stains (spilled my soda once or twice).
Being a 4 cylinder the engine is easy to get to, ie: plenty of space in the engine compartment.
Transmission is in great shape, shifts tight with NO noises, bumps, or clunks.
Clutch engages perfectly.
Has A/C
Has surface rust, but only surface rust. Everything is very solid.
Has not been messed with. Meaning it was made as a road truck, and that is what I have done with it.   No lift kit, no offroading, no punishment.
Passed inspection last summer.

Negatives:
The blown gasket which makes it burn coolant is the biggest bad thing.
Was in a minor fender bender. A well know delivery company truck was driving on the wrong side of a gravel road. Has been repaired, inspected, and driven since then.
Passenger side taillight mounting rim is broken. It still works, but you can see it in the pictures.
Windshield has cracks, all of which were professionally fixed by Fas-Break Windshield Repair

Hood has a small dent still from the accident, which makes it a little tricky to open. It does open fine however.

Bed is starting to get rust on the wheel-wells. Easily fixed right now. Can be seen in pic.

And that is everything. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. I can take photos of anything else you would like to see. I have the clean and clear title in hand.

Payment and Shipping:
A $500 dollar deposit is due within 24 hours of auction end. Full payment due within 7 business days. I am jumpy because I have had several people not pay for auctions they won. So please contact me and let me know you mean business. Bidders with zero or negative feedback will have bids canceled if they do not speak with me first.

Shipping is the buyers responsibility. I will assist as I can. Note that the truck cannot be driven home, but could be driven onto a trailer and towed home.

Chrysler recalls 1.2 million Ram pickup trucks

Sat, 09 Nov 2013

Chrysler has announced that it will issue three separate recalls that will cover as many as 1.2 million Ram pickup trucks for "steering-system tie rods that may have been misaligned during assembly or steering-system service." The vast majority of these trucks were sold in the United States, though some trucks in Mexico, Canada or overseas will be called in, as well.
The largest of the three recalls covers an estimated 842,400 model-year 2003-2008 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks. Two smaller campaigns will bring 294,000 model-year 2008-2012 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups, chassis cabs and 2008 Ram 1500 4x4 Mega Cabs; plus 43,500 model-year 2008-2012 Ram 4500 and 5500 4x4 chassis cabs into the dealer to be checked and repaired if necessary.
This is a very large recall, and Chrysler says it is "casting the net wider than necessary to identify those vehicles that require repair." The automaker estimates that "as many as 726,000 may not need repair."

Chrysler almost smothered the Hellcat before it lived

Thu, 06 Nov 2014

Chrysler's 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 was an absolute sensation from the very moment it was announced, and honestly, how could it not have been? Packing 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, its numbers immediately put every other production muscle car (and many supercars) to shame. Plus, we soon learned that would be wrapped in a package retailing for around $60,000 - a pittance compared to other vehicles offering similar grunt. However, the Hellcat almost never got the chance to rumble under the hood of the Challenger and Charger.
The Hellcat was initially proposed back in 2011, back when Fiat was deciding its future strategy for Chrysler Group, according to Automotive News. At the time, the company was just emerging from its bankruptcy doldrums, and an ultra-high-performance V8 wasn't exactly a must-have item. The program didn't move forward. However, SRT engineers kept fighting, according to AN, and four months later, they received the green light to pull the project off the shelf and continue developing the Hellcat. The muscle car world is certainly better for that decision.
The work of those engineers focused on taking Chrysler's standard 6.2-liter V8 and making it reliably handle all of the extra power from the supercharger. "It came down to micron levels of changes in the crank to be able to withstand the pressures of the engine," said Chris Cowland, director of advanced and SRT powertrain, to Automotive News. The changes amounted to switching out about 91 percent of the parts to make the Hellcat, including some quite minuscule alterations. For example, the washer holding the supercharger pulley is embedded with industrial diamonds to keep it from slipping.

Dodge idles Viper production again at Conner Avenue

Mon, 07 Jul 2014

You've got to hand it to Dodge for having the gumption to put the original Viper into production in the first place. It was, after all, much more of an emotional decision than a practical one, and a move which saw the first production V10 engine placed in a road car - long before the advent of the Lamborghini Gallardo, Audi R8, Porsche Carrera GT or Lexus LFA, not to mention the other Ford, BMW and Volkswagen Group models that used such engines.
It's now been 22 years since the first Viper entered production and the Viper still rolls on several generations later, but we're sad to say that courageous decision has not always been met with overwhelming sales success. In fact parent Chrysler was forced to idle the Conner Avenue plant where the Viper is made back in April due to slow sales. And while production resumed again as planned on June 23, it apparently didn't do the trick.
As a result, Chrysler corporate communications chief Shawn Morgan revealed to Autoblog that the assembly line has been shut down again for another two weeks. The line was up and running for nearly two full work weeks from June 23 until the holiday weekend that started on Thursday, July 3. But instead of coming back online today as planned, it's been idled again for the weeks of July 7 and 14. That means it will be July 21, at the earliest, before the serpentine supercars start slithering down the assembly line at Conner Avenue again. Once it does, however, production is set to resume at the same pace it was before the shutdown.
