Up for auction is this very nice daily driver quality 1968 Dodge Coronet Super Bee Clone. This is a pretty rare coronet in that it is a factory Big block 383 car, with DISC brakes and factory a/c. Pretty much born a superbee but cost way more than a superbee. It has very nice interior with a mint set of seats, brand new dash pad etc. Custom CD player mounted in glovebox door. The engine is a 383 with 4 barrel, very sanitary under the hood, i don't know if its the original engine or not, never checked. The engine fires right up, runs excellent, trans shifts nice and brakes work good. I have owned this car for about 7 years and have driven it a few thousand miles, including a 500 mile round trip a couple years back for a car show. cruises great at 70 mph. 8 3/4 rear i am guessing 3.23 for the rear end. The car is rock solid, no rust on floors or trunk, frame is mint. Body is very nice, only a few small bubbles on the lower rear quarters, mainly passenger side. The paint is probably 10 years old, and still shines well, few chips and scratches. A new paint job and this car would be unbelievable. Bum;ers are good driver quality. I have a few mopars, and have only driven this car 2-3 times in the last couple years, so it may need plugs/wires normal maintenance in the near future. I always run 93 octane in my classics. 20w50 castrol GTX oil. The wheels are sweet torq thrust style tires are nice and beefy, and have tons of tread. You will not be disappointed with this car it would make an excellent cruise/daily driver car. I am listing this car NO RESERVE, it's time for me to thin the collection some. I reserve the right to end this auction early at any time for any reason, as car is for sale locally. Please ask with any questions. Thanks and good luck.

eBay Find of the Day: Viper Defender from '90s TV show

Fri, 24 May 2013

As car lovers, it's always hard to find a good television show with decent cars, but what the 1990s show Viper lacked in acting, scripting and plot, it more than made up for with cool cars. For starters, the lead car was a Dodge Viper RT/10, but, on screen, it was able to morph into its "Defender" mode making it an armored coupe with a full arsenal of weapons.
Fortunately, you don't have to be a fan of the bad show to love its lead car, and if you really want one, a Defender is up for auction right now on eBay. According to the listing, this car is the real deal - not a clone - and it comes with a V8 engine (not sure what happened to the V10?) and plenty of swag and memorbilia. No word on its actual asking price, but with a day left and 42 bids already, the reserve has not been met at $133,400. The listing does add that this same car was listed at Mecum back in 2010, but did not get sold, even with a bid of $270,000.

Watch this Dodge Viper get clawed to death

Tue, 07 Jan 2014

There's a scene in the James Bond movie, Casino Royale, where Daniel Craig's Agent 007 is captured by villain Le Chiffre, played by Mads Mikkelsen. Le Chiffre tortures Bond in a scene that is rather difficult to watch (especially for blokes) and impossible to describe on these digital pages (Google at your own risk). This video is the automotive equivalent of the Casino Royale torture scene.
It shows a Dodge Viper - a late, first-generation GTS judging by the center-exit exhausts - getting assaulted by a giant piece of heavy equipment. The large claw shows no mercy on the V10-powered sports car, rending its muscular curves into pieces and then running it over, just for good measure. It's a painful video to watch (and hear!), made worse because we don't know what the Viper did to deserve such a fate. About a third of the way through the video, the cameraman indicates that the man with the claw is a new operator from Chrysler, and it appears there may be some fire damage, but beyond that, we don't have much to go on.
Scroll down for the video but be warned, it isn't for the faint of heart.

Are you the Dodge Dart SRT4?

Tue, 08 Jan 2013

Dodge has just confirmed that it will be bringing its newest Dart variant, the Dart GT, to Detroit next week, but we're still in the dark about when we'll see a truly hotted-up SRT4 version. But now, by way of the rumormill anyway, we've got at least one proposed, potentially Dodge-based rendering to light our way.
Seen here is what would appear to be a design sketch of the SRT4 Dart. Obviously the image that has surfaced is of rather low-resolution, but there's at least some evidence to support that it may be legitimate. In the original picture, one can just make out the name Tim Doyle in the lower right corner. As it turns out, Tim Doyle's name is also watermarked on the final design image for the 2011 Dodge Durango Citadel Black & Tan, a model that was shown at SEMA in 2010.
Of course, even if this really is the work of Doyle, there's nothing to say that this image isn't one of a great many potential looks for the future SRT4. In fact, the departure of the cross-hair grille from the Dodge's nose seems like it could be a hard sell, though we do, naturally, dig the sleek hood scoop and the bulked up wheel/tire combination.
