YOU ARE BIDDING ON A
1965 DODGE CORONET A990 SUPER STOCK RECREATION,W/'69-383 ORIGINAL CALIFORNIA CAR
THIS CAR WAS ORIGINALLY BUILT AT THE LA, CALIFORNIA PLANT AND SOLD IN LOS ANGELES IN 1964 AND WAS TITLED ORIGINALLY AS A 1964 DODGE CORONET. AS WE ALL KNOW THERE WERE NO 1964 CORONETS ANDTHE VIN TELLS THE STORY. THIS CAR REMAINED IN CALIFORNIA ITS WHOLE LIFE UNTIL I PURCHASED IT OUT OF MODESTO CALIFORNIA.  THIS CAR WAS ROCK SOLID EXCEPT FOR TWO SPOTS IN THE FRONT FLOOR THAT THE OWNER IN CALIFORNIA ADDRESSED AS WELL AS PUTTING THE FRESH '69 383 BIG BLOCK IN THE CAR. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE CHICAGOLAND AREA AND BEGAN THE FULL RESTORATION. THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY SANDED TO BARE METAL AND FRESH BASE COAT CLEAR COAT PAINT IN THE ORIGINAL COLOR WAS APPLIED. THE ONLY THING I REPLACED ON THE ENGINE WHEN WE PULLED IT OUT TO SPRAY THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS I INSTALLED A SET OF BRASS FREEZE PLUGS INSTEAD OF THE STEEL ONES THAT WERE IN IT, AN ALUMINUM INTAKE, HOLLEY CARBURETOR, ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP AND REGULATOR. I ALSO HAD THE HEADERS CERAMIC COATED AND INSTALLED A HIGH TORQUE MINI STARTER. AS FAR AS THE REST OF THE CAR I WILL TRY TO LIST EVERYTHING BUT THERE HAS BEEN SO MUCH PUT INTO THIS BUILD THAT I WILL PROBABLY FORGET SOMETHING BUT THE PICTURES SHOULD TELL THE STORY BETTER THAN WORDS.  EVERYTHING WORKS, LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, PARKING LIGHTS, INTERIOR LIGHT, GAUGE LIGHTS. IT DOES HAVE A FUEL LEVEL GAUGE BUT THE WIRE NEEDS TO BE ATTACHED TO THE SENDING UNIT. IT ALSO HAS FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE AND FILTER ON THE STAINLESS STEEL BRAIDED FUEL LINE.

Daily Driver: 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

Tue, May 26 2015

Daily Driver videos are micro-reviews of vehicles in the Autoblog press fleet, reviewed by the staffers who drive them every day. Today's Daily Driver features the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, reviewed by Greg Migliore. You can watch the video above or read a transcript below. Watch more Autoblog videos at /videos. VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: [00:00:00] Hey, everybody. It's Greg Migliore and today I am driving a 707-horsepower Dodge Charger. That can only mean one thing: I'm driving the Hellcat. Naturally, the spotlight feature of this car is the 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8. Makes 707 horsepower and 650 pound feet of torque. [00:00:30] Now naturally the engine sounds great and you can hear all of those horses going out the exhaust in back, which I think the Dodge guys have tuned really well. I think it's got one of the more unique sounds in the industry. All that horsepower will do that, but they've tuned it so there's a low kind of growl, and then it burbles and it's angry [00:01:00], it's visceral. I like it. It's intoxicating. It's different than other muscle cars. It's different than European exotics. I think it sounds great. I'm driving in sport right now which allows me to use the paddle shifters. I think it sounds a little better and the shifts of the eight-speed automatic transmission are a little bit more aggressive. For such a powerful car, Dodge did a nice job of tuning it to be actually pretty drivable. I just took a corner right there and the [00:01:30] steering offers you satisfying weight to your inputs. It's a little bit of a heavier steering, especially compared to some of the earlier generation Chargers. It's sporty, but it's not crazy. The design of the Dodge Charger is a critical element. That's why a lot of people buy this car, is it gives them that muscle car heritage look. The Hellcat has some special design cues that are also functional. You've got a couple of extra air intakes up front, keeps everything cool and breathing, the air flowing through; a nice spoiler in back [00:02:00] that helps keep the aero, and the downforce keeps you on the ground. The HID projector headlights really pop, especially at night, and in back you've got the LED taillights that spread out wide across the back end of this car like some of the great Chargers of the past. This car rolls on 20-inch black wheels with a spiderweb design. I think they look good. They're kind of low-key, which I think is great.

Autoblog's Editors' Picks: Our complete list of the best new vehicles

Mon, May 13 2024

It's not easy to earn an “EditorsÂ’ Picks” at Autoblog as part of the rating and review process that every new vehicle goes through. Our editors have been at it a long time, which means weÂ’ve driven and reviewed virtually every new car you can go buy on the dealer lot. There are disagreements, of course, and all vehicles have their strengths and weaknesses, but this list features what we think are the best new vehicles chosen by Autoblog editors. We started this formal review process back in 2018, so there's quite of few of them now. So what does it mean to be an EditorsÂ’ Pick? In short, it means itÂ’s a car that we can highly recommend purchasing. There may be one, multiple, or even zero vehicles in any given segment that we give the green light to. What really matters is that itÂ’s a vehicle that weÂ’d tell a friend or family member to go buy if theyÂ’re considering it, because itÂ’s a very good car. The best way to use this list is is with the navigation links below. Click on a segment, and you'll quickly arrive at the top rated pickup truck or SUV, for example. Use the back button to return to these links and search in another segment, like sedans. If youÂ’ve been keeping up with our monthly series of the latest vehicles to earn EditorsÂ’ Pick status, youÂ’re likely going to be familiar with this list already. If not, welcome to the complete list that weÂ’ll be keeping updated as vehicles enter (and others perhaps exit) the good graces of our editorial team. We rate a new car — giving it a numerical score out of 10 — every time thereÂ’s a significant refresh or if it happens to be an all-new model. Any given vehicle may be impressive on a first drive, but we wait until itÂ’s in the hands of our editors to put it through the same type of testing as every other vehicle that rolls through our test fleet before giving it the EditorsÂ’ Pick badge. This ensures consistency and allows more voices to be heard on each individual model. And just so you donÂ’t think weÂ’ve skipped trims or variants of a model, we hand out the EditorsÂ’ Pick based on the overarching model to keep things consistent. So, when you read that the 3 Series is an EditorsÂ’ Pick, yes, that includes the 330i to the M3 and all the variants in between. If thereÂ’s a particular version of that car we vehemently disagree with, we make sure to call that out.

Subaru Legacy pitted against Roadkill project cars

Fri, 05 Sep 2014

There's an evergreen debate among auto enthusiasts about whether they would prefer to have the latest and greatest car of today or a certified classic from yesteryear. What if you had to further define that, though, and the choice was between a brand new 2015 Subaru Legacy or a turbocharged Datsun 240Z with a hatch that wouldn't close? Roadkill aimed to find out that and more in one of its best videos to date.
According to the hosts, Subaru came to them, handed over some money and challenged Roadkill's project cars against its latest Legacy. The result is every bit as good (or better) than any automotive-themed show you could find on television.
Things start simple with a figure-eight race in a rodeo arena with the Subaru taking on Roadkill's 1968 Ford Ranchero, originally built for ice racing. From there the Legacy races a 1968 Dodge Charger with no windows around and off-road rally stage. Finally, the Subie goes head-to-head against the Rotsun, the aforementioned turbocharged 240Z, through an abandoned neighborhood. Plus, there's a bonus drag race challenging them all.
