1953 Dodge Coronet Red Ram Hemi on 2040-cars
Fort Myers, Florida, United States
Up for sale is a beautiful 1953 Dodge Coronet. Engine is the original 241 cu. In. Red Ram Hemi with factory dual point distributor, 6 volt system and Gyromatic transmission. Running gear and brakes are in great working order with 97k miles on the car. The car was resprayed some time ago in the factory color of Esquire Red. The overall condition of this car is great considering that it is original and appears to have been taken care of fairly well. Car is very reliable and can be driven daily. There is an oil change sticker in the door jamb that states 89k miles in 1973. There is another from southern California. I can make out 195’ something so it may have been from out there originally. It was in Sioux City Iowa when I found it. The steering and overall chassis are original. The car wanders a bit but drives fine otherwise. The interior is complete however needs restored. The dash board and steering wheel are complete and in really good condition. All of the dash lights work and dim when the panel light is adjusted. Gauges work. Fuel gauge doesn't read correctly. Heater, defroster and original two speed electric wipers all work. Glove box is fine. The radio turns on but is not working. This car has factory front and rear speakers both of which are still in the car. Headliner is there. The interior light is there and works. The front seat upper has a cover over the original material and is very old and torn. The upholstery on the lower section of the front seat is coming apart. The rear is original as well and in good general shape with some old mineral stains and small areas that are torn. Car has original seat belts up front and aftermarket belts at the rear seat. The driver’s side door glass is cracked but whole. The rest of the glass is in good general condition. All four door windows roll up and down cleanly. Trunk has the original hounds tooth mat made from a weave material and is stained. The spare tire is an old Allstate Cushion tubeless wide white wall 7.10-15 tire and in really good condition. The original jack is present as well. The exterior trim, bumpers and grill are all complete. There is pitting in some of the chrome, the bumpers have some surface rust, scratches and general use marks from 61 years of service however are very straight. The side trim is complete and so are the various emblems and hood ornament. The car has some rust in the front passenger floor up around the body mount. Somebody did a repair on the driver’s side that isn’t impressive. Both of these spots are from a leaky cowl vent and rubber floor mats over the 61 year life of the car. Otherwise the car is very solid including the trunk and spare tire well. This car isn’t perfect or close and has various dings, blemishes, scratches, chips, etc. that would be normal on an original 61 year old driver. Overall this is a very classic 1950s Americana piece. It’s been fantastic for cruising and general hopping around. This car puts more smiles on faces than I can explain.
Title is clear, in my name and registered here in Florida. This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranties or guarantees offered or implied. Sale is final, buyer is liable for any shipping. Please ask any questions you may have. The car is available locally (Fort Myers, FL) for in person inspections. I require a $1000. Non Refundable Deposit within 48 hours of the auction ending. The balance will be paid in full before the car leaves or sits on a trailer. No exceptions. I will hold the car up to a month with proper communication. |

11 vehicles from Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas worth watching
Fri, 26 Sep 2014This weekend will see the world's collector car crowds descend on Las Vegas, NV for one of the biggest shows on Barrett-Jackson's popular auction circuit. There are hundreds of vehicles up for bidding, ranging from a brand-new Lamborghini Aventador to a spattering of Art Deco classics and a huge swath of classic muscle cars.
While it's virtually impossible to assemble an inarguable list of the best cars coming during the three-day, 700-plus vehicle auction, we've sifted through the listings for this year's show - it was a tough assignment, we promise - and assembled a list of what we think will be some of the most interesting lots. We'll admit, it's a bit heavy on American iron, but if you browse BJ's listings, you'll come to a similar conclusion. Still, scroll down for our list of what we think will be the most interesting vehicles at the upcoming auction.
2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat revealed [UPDATE]
Wed, 13 Aug 2014Almost immediately after we drove the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, we began wondering: what's next? Pumping 707 horsepower into the Challenger seemed so crazy - and so intoxicating - we just assumed that Dodge would try that trick again.
Rumors swirled about a Charger Hellcat. Frankly it makes even more sense than the Challenger version. The Charger is a bigger car, and Dodge has never been shy about dropping monster engines under its hood. Hell (cat), we've seen Charger mules running around town that appeared to be the super sedan.
And finally, it's here. The 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat was revealed today at a preview event near Detroit, and it will be a centerpiece of the Chrysler display this weekend at the Woodward Dream Cruise.
Weekly Recap: FCA hit with record fine as NHTSA crackdown continues
Sat, Aug 1 2015The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration slapped Fiat Chrysler Automobiles with a record fine this week that could reach $105 million. The punishment comes after NHTSA found problems with the automaker's execution of 23 recalls that affect more than 11 million vehicles. The consent agreement, announced Sunday, calls for FCA to pay a $70-million cash fine and requires the company to spend at least $20 million over a three-year period on industry outreach programs and to beef up old recall campaigns. Failure to comply will result in another $15-million fine. FCA also agreed to federal oversight, which includes an independent monitor to oversee the company's recalls. The $70-million cash fine equals a penalty NHTSA levied on Honda in January. "Fiat Chrysler's pattern of poor performance put millions of its customers and the driving public at risk," NHTSA administrator Mark Rosekind said in a statement. "This action will provide relief to owners of defective vehicles, will help improve recall performance throughout the auto industry, and gives Fiat Chrysler the opportunity to embrace a proactive safety culture." FCA called the deal a "consensual resolution," but admitted that it "failed to timely provide an effective remedy" during certain recalls. "We are intent on rebuilding our relationship with NHTSA and we embrace the role of public safety advocate," the company said in a statement. The announcement kicked off a busy week for the automaker. NHTSA agreed FCA did not need to recall 4.7 million vehicles after an investigation failed to find defects with a power module used in some Jeep, Dodge, and Ram vehicles. A Georgia judge also reduced a civil verdict involving a death in a Jeep Grand Cherokee crash. Amid all of that, the company reported net profit of about 333 million euros, or $364 million in the second quarter on Thursday. OTHER NEWS & NOTES FCA ramps up Hellcat production Despite a decidedly legal and financial week for FCA, there was still time for the performance side of the business to briefly grab the spotlight. The automaker is more than doubling its production of the Dodge Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcats in response to strong demand. The order bank opens the second week of August and production begins in September. FCA will finish up its scheduled 2015 model-year Hellcat builds, and cancel any "unscheduled" versions, though customers will get discounted pricing for 2016.
