I purchased car from family that purchased the car new in 1966.

A great candidate for daily diver or restoration.  Car will need work before it can be driven.

I bought this car earlier this year in Arkansas.  It was a one family owned and unrestored.  The car is sold “as is” and is detailed with pictures and details below.

History

Car was originally bought in Virginia (see dealer tag on decklid).  That owner moved to Dallas in theMid-Seventies and drove the car until it was given to his Sister in the late-Seventies to early-Eighties.  The car was then passed on to the Son of the Sister of the original owner.  He drove the car throughout the eighties and nineties as a second car. He painted the car in its current color in the late eighties/early nineties and kept the car in running/drivable condition. He parked it sometime in the nineties and kept it garaged until he gave it to his step-son a few early ago.

Current Condition

Engine/Trans/Mechanicals: The car is as depicted in thepictures.  Car has over 140,000 miles on it.  Odometer stopped working according to last driver in mid-nineties just prior to the car being parked.  The car was not running when I got it, but after adjusting the points, cleaning the sparkplugs, correcting the spark plug firing order, fixing the accelerator pump in the carb, I was able toget the engine to run.  It runs fairly smooth, but I have no way to know its internal condition.  The transmission seems to be fine, and will move as necessary in forward/reverse.  I have not taken this car on the road.  Car charges and A/C system does not seem to function, but is charged and is underpressure with Freon.

Brakes:  Brakes needwork.

Tires:  Tires are over20 years old and need replacing

Exterior:  Speaking to the previous owner, the car was painted once around 20-25 years ago.  The paint job is poor.  There are a few spots where there are some rust bubbles coming through, but they are minimal based on the number or years ago this was painted.  These spots are all the traditional trouble areas with 1966 Dodge Chargers.  Additionally, it appears that the lower passenger Quarter panel had been repaired in the past and is cracking (see pic).  This is the worst exterior part of thecar.  The back window leaks, but does not appear to be rusted and the rear window trim is missing.  Also, the trunk is slightly rusted in two small areas.  I believe it would need twosmall patches to repair.   Floor pansappear to be solid.  However, I cannot guarantee what is under the paint, since there is no way to know withoutremoving the paint.  Glass is in goodshape with the exception of the Windshield (cracked).  All the exterior trim (except rear window) is intact with some minor denting.  Top passenger fender trim is heavily dented. Rotating headlights do not operate, but all parts appear to be intact (relays, limit switches and motors).

Interior: Electroluminescence works for all gauges.  Does not work for A/C, radio and shifter.  Speedometer, Tachometer and Gas Gauge do no tappear to function.   Seats, carpet and door panels are in fairly good shape. The passenger seat has a tear.

This 93-car Iowa auction is like a Big 3 classic muscle museum

Tue, Aug 27 2019

Bill "Coyote" Johnson has been buying cars since high school and has amassed a collection totaling 113 vehicles, according to NBC 6 News. But time has changed his motivations and priorities, and he's decided to auction 93 of those cars, many of which are classic muscle from Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, Plymouth and Pontiac. The megasale will take place Sept. 14, 2019, in Red Oak, Iowa, at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. A 1969 Plymouth Road Runner infected Coyote with a love for Detroit muscle when he was just a teenager, and his desire quickly turned into an obsession. He's spent the past 40 years finding, buying and working on a variety of makes and models. Unlike some collectors, Coyote didn't discriminate against certain brands and has rides from each of the Big 3 automakers. Included in the auction are Camaros, Satellites, Super Bees, Chargers, Challengers, Barracudas, Coronets, GTOs, Mustangs, Cutlasses and others. Possibly the most intriguing aspect of the auction is that all of these cars will be sold as-is with no reserve. Many of them will need work, depending on quality standards, but this seems like a golden opportunity to find a classic car without leaving a bank account in shambles.  The auctions are open for bidding online now, and the full auction will take place on September 14. Check out the full listings and bid at VanDerBrink Auctions.

Watch dual-engined Dodge SRT4 do a FWD burnout, a RWD burnout, then AWD launch

Wed, Dec 3 2014

There's something fantastically insane about racers who go out on their own and build something unique. Just take this crazy video from last year of a twin-engine Dodge SRT4 at a drag strip that can burn the rubber at either end – or both ends – at a moment's notice. With tires sticking out way past the fenders, a massive cooling system at the front and no back window to speak of, this Dodge is clearly meant solely for speed. Though it's real party trick is being able to spin the front or rear wheels independently. The setup makes for three quite showy burnouts. When it came time to actually get down the track, things got somewhat awkward. Like other twin-engine creations we've seen, the separate powertrains make for some odd sounds and a weird look launching down the strip. Still, there's no doubt that the engineering behind this Frankenstein is very impressive. Scroll down to see this monster in action and another of it in a very mismatched race last year. Dodge Challenger ADR prototypes spied with massive rubber

Mon, Oct 3 2016

In an effort to give the Dodge Challenger one last hurrah before making the switch to the Giorgio platform in 2018, Automotive News reports that the automaker will come out with the Challenger ADR. The ADR, which stands for American Drag Racer, is expected to be a wide-body, Hellcat-powered variant that is closely based off of the current model. The report seems to have merit, as photographers have captured Challenger prototypes testing with massive tires. The prototypes look extremely similar to the current Challenger SRT Hellcat with the same hood scoop, front fascia design, rear spoiler construction, and rear end. The white and purple vehicles, though, are wearing extremely wide tires. The extra-wide rubber on the prototypes appear to have a similar tread design as the ones found on the Dodge Viper ACR, which features the grippy Kumho Ecsta V720. While the ACR wears 295 mm tires at the front, the car's rear tires are massive at 355 mm. The tires found on the prototype don't appear to be as large as the ones found on the ACR, but are expected to be larger than the current Challenger SRT Hellcat's, which are Pirelli P Zero Neros measuring 275 mm at all four corners. The Challenger ADR, with its wider, stickier tires is expected to cater to drivers that are looking to put all of the supercharged 6.2-liter V8's power to the ground. The rear-wheel-drive ADR is expected to come with a wide-body kit, which is missing from the prototypes. The Hellcat-powered, wide-body Challenger ADR is expected to make an appearance later in 2017, with an all-wheel-drive model (sans Hellcat engine) known as the GT AWD following closely thereafter.
