I AM SEMI RETIRED AND SPEND A LOT OF TIME AND ATTENTION ON ONE CAR AT A TIME. THIS BEAUTIFULL 1969 CHARGER RT BELONGED TO A DOCTOR FRIEND OF MINE 25 YEARS AGO. HE SOLD IT TO A FAMILY THAT PARKED IT IN A GARAGE FOR MOST OF THAT TIME. RECENTLY I WAS ABLE TO PURCHASE THE VEHICLE AFTER LENGTHLY STORAGE. LAST REGISTERED IN 1999. AT THE TIME MY FRIEND OWNED IT, HE HAD ORIGINAL ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION REBUILT. (I HAVE CHECKED ALL NUMBERS AND CASTING CODES AND FIND THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION TO BOTH HAVE COMPLETE MATCHING NUMBERS WITH CORRECT DATE AND CASTING CODES.)VERY FEW MILES ON THEM SINCE THAT WAS DONE. CORRECT BALANCED HP HEMI-STYLE DRIVESHAFT AND ORIGINAL REAR END .. I REPLACED FUEL TANK , PICKUP AND SENDING UNIT, LINE, FUEL PUMP FILTER AND CARB.(original carb needs rebuild, and is included )IT RUNS LIKE NEW. INSPECTED AND REPLACED BRAKE LINES WHERE NECESSARY AND MASTER CYLINDER. SUSPENSION STILL EXCELLENT. DRIVES STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD AND HANDLES BEAUTIFULLY THROUGH THE CORNERS. NO RATTLES OVER A BUMPY ROAD. TRANSMISSION SHIFTS PROMPTLY THROUGH THE GEARS AS IT SHOULD. NOTICED SLIGHT PULSATION IN BRAKES AT HIGH SPEED BRAKING. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING EVERYDAY TO INSURE NO DRIVEABILITY ISSUES. SPEEDOMETER WORKS BUT STICKS. NEEDS SERVICE. THE EXTERIOR IS GORGEOUS FINISHED IN ORIGINAL BAHAMA BLUE. BUMPERS GOOD WITH MINOR FLAWS. DOOR HANDLES ORIGINAL WITH SOME PITTING AS ARE MIRRORS. HIDEAWAY HEADLIGHTS WORK PROPERLY. ORIGINAL INTERIOR VERY NICE WITH SPLIT IN SEAM OF DRIVERS SEAT. BODY IS STRAIGHT. RUST FREE FENDERS AND DOORS. ORIGINAL REAR QUARTERS WITH LOWER PATCH PANELS WELDED IN. TRUNK PAN WAS REPLACED IN THE PAST, BUT FLOORBOARDS ARE ORIGINAL AND VERY NICE. REAR TORSION BAR SUPPORT UPON CLOSE INSPECTION , WAS REPLACED. (A GOOD THING) REAR SPRING SHACKLE MOUNTS ORIGINAL AND SOLID. NEW REAR SPRINGS. SEE UNDERCARRIAGE PICS. I AM HAPPY TO SEND PICS OF ANYTHING . THIS IS NOT A PUT TOGETHER CLONE RT WITH NON-MATCHING ENGINE AND TRANNY ETC. THIS IS AN CORRECT INVESTMENT QUALITY RT WITH ALL MATCHING NUMBERS. THE LAST AUTHENTIC RT I PERSONALLY SAW AT A COLLECTER AUCTION, SOLD FOR $95,000 WITH AN INVASIVE RESTORATION DONE ON A MUCH LESS WORTHY VEHICLE. (BUY IT NOW PRICE IS $45,000). IN ANOTHER LISTING, CURRENT BIDDING IS HIGHER ON A 69 NON MATCHING FRANKENSTEIN THAN MY STARTING BID. BIDDING LESS ON A REAL ONE, SEEMS TO ME TO BE A NO BRAINER. I WOULD EXPECT SERIOUS BIDDERS TO CONTACT ME WITH QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING. (RALPH FARRIS 207-650-6355) BIDDERS WITH LESS THAN 20 RATING MUST CALL ME TO QUALIFY TO BID. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN BID CANCELLATION. IF I DO NOT SEE SUFFICIENT BIDDING ACTIVITY PRIOR TO AUCTIONS END, I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL LISTING. BID WITH CONFIDENCE ON THIS CAR. YOU WILL NOT GET AN " I DON'T KNOW" TO YOUR QUESTIONS FROM ME. THANK YOU!

Barracuda's Dodge branding no biggie, but what about engines?
Thu, Aug 27 2015Rumors about a revival of the Barracuda nameplate have been circulating for years now, though which brand it might fall under has been a bit of a mystery. Initial speculation had the car labeled an SRT product, but that acronym has since returned to its former role as a sub-brand for top-performance Mopars. Thanks to leaks from a recent FCA dealership event, we know the Barracuda is back on the table but will be sold under the Dodge umbrella, a move that has been generating a bit of ire from Pentastar fanatics, as the car was originally part of the defunct Plymouth brand. Given what's known about the new model, however, the badge is the least of my concerns about the new car. Let's start with the re-branding itself. This isn't the first time Chrysler has shuffled models around to different brands. The current-generation Viper spent two years as the flagship model under the SRT banner, only to return to Dodge for 2015 when SRT resumed its former role as a sub-brand. Years ago, the Neon was sold as a Plymouth, a Dodge, and a Chrysler model, depending on where you shopped for one. When Plymouth ceased to exist, the last few years of Prowler production got Chrysler badges instead. Then there's the new Jeep Renegade, a model whose name was born out of a trim level. The Barracuda might not turn out to be a muscle car in the way we currently define them. Further examples of naming liberties taken throughout automotive history could fill a book, but suffice it to say that these days a model's name has very little to do with the vehicle itself or any legacy it might have. The Barracuda name might be a particularly sacred cow with enthusiasts, but to me, a much bigger concern is the fact that the car might not turn out to be a muscle car in the way we currently define them. News from the Fiat Chrysler dealer briefing earlier this week indicates that when the next Charger debuts it will share its platform with the Barracuda, much the way the Charger and Challenger are twinned now. One difference is that the Barracuda is tipped to be offered as a convertible, while the modern Challenger is tintop-only. The Charger and Barracuda will use the rear-drive platform developed for Alfa Romeo's new Giulia, itself designed as a BMW M3 fighter both from a dimensional and dynamic standpoint; the Barracuda is expected to be slightly smaller than the current Challenger.
Fiat Chrysler wins top Total Quality Award for first time
Mon, Jul 20 2015The Strategic Vision Total Quality Awards are 20 years old in 2015, and Chrysler has never topped the awards before. Until now, that is. Fiat Chrysler takes the overall award on the corporate level with six segment leaders from Fiat, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram. The Fiat 500 won Small Multi-Function Car, the 500e won Small Alternative Powertrain, the Dodge Challenger tied at the top in the Specialty Coupe category alongside the very un-coupe Mini Cooper Countryman, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited took the Entry SUV category, the Dodge Durango won in Mid-Size SUV, and Ram took the overall in Best Non-Luxury Brand. The accolade means FCA has gone from one segment winner in 2010 to overall victory in five years. Cars have gotten so good, says Strategic Vision, that it is harder than ever to win. In fact, says the group, 18 years ago 85 percent of all vehicle brands had more than half a problem per vehicle. This year, no brand has more than half a problem per vehicle. The organization measures "over 155 specific aspects of the customer's experience," and scores are based on input from more than 46,000 customers. Other notables in and near the winner's circle include Volkswagen and General Motors, who tied for second place on the corporate scale, one point behind FCA. The Mini Cooper Roadster scored the highest of any model, the Corvette Stingray Convertible and Coupe scored the second- and third-highest. The Chevrolet Colorado is the first domestic Standard Pickup winner in more than ten years, and the Nissan Titan carried the Full-Size Pickup category. The press release below has all the details on how winners and losers are selected, and the full list of automakers and how they finished. "The Customer's 'Total' Experience Defines Quality, Fiat Chrysler Scores Highest in Total Quality," says Strategic Vision The 2015 Total Quality Awards® SAN DIEGO, Friday, July 17, 2015 — Unknown to many, when some consumer research firms rank a car company's quality performance they often do so by simply "counting problems." In the past, this may have been acceptable, but in today's modern and efficient manufacturing world the difference between the worst brand and best brand is LESS than half-a-problem per vehicle. Thus, any "quality ranking" based on this method is severely lacking in the complete picture of the "Total" Quality experience that customers actually use to judge their product ownership.
Defiance Dodge Charger, saving Earth from aliens isn't clean work [w/video]
Fri, 08 Feb 2013You'll be forgiven for not having heard about the TV show Defiance - it actually hasn't aired its first episode yet. The new science fiction show about an alien war against Earth in the near future seems like a perfect fit for the SyFy channel, and, apparently one that Dodge saw as a slick marketing opportunity for its Charger sedan.
Here in Chicago, Dodge has given a large corner of its show stand to the Defiance Charger, a car that won't be skipped by any Mad Max fans in attendance at this year's show. The Charger boasts one hell of a gnarly patina under a confusingly welded cage of tube steel, as well as window bars, a grille guard in front, and big, knobby truck tires. There aren't any obvious guns or turrets on the outside of the vehicle, so we can only hope that the characters driving it go well-armed.
Look for the Charger to make its star turn in Defiance when the series premieres on SyFy on April 15 at 9:00 PM EST. Also, there's said to be a Defiance video game in the works, too, so you may get a chance to steer the burly Dodge for yourself. Find a trailer for the show, below, as well.
