Up for sale is my prized possession, which i have owned over 20 years now. 1970 Dodge Charger R/T. This is a real R/T and a factory rear spoiler car. Only 197 of these Chargers came through with a wing (J81 option on fender tag) so, it's a very rare car when you figure it out with the color combinations and options. This Charger was restored around 6 years ago but after breaking in the motor and transmission, it wasn't driven much at all. The car has less than 1000 miles since the restoration and is stored in a climate controlled garage. The car is extremely straight and clean. I have the fender tag and restored the car to almost original with a few details changed to make it more appealing to the eyes. The car is painted in its original red. The vehicle came factory with black interior, white bumblebee stripe, black vinyl top and 440 hood callouts. Its originally a 440 automatic A/C car. The a/c was removed and a patch was made in the firewall. It has a built 440 in it which was estimated over 500 hp. Its a 78 truck 440 block bored .60 over. It has worked 906 Heads a mild cam and a Holley Street Avenger carb. This Car is very fast and does get traction thanks to the 10 inch wide Magnum 500 wheels in the rear. The transmission is a tci super street fighter and has a 2500 rpm stall converter. This transmission has a auto/manual valve body so u can manually shift it to get the most power from it. It has a 8 3/4 rear with 3:91 posi gears in it. It runs and drives great. This car gets nothing but compliments anywhere u go. It was converted to a performance power disk brakes in the front with cross drilled and slotted rotors. The car has brand new quarter panels, rear valence, wheel houses and trunk floors. All work was performed by myself a body man of 30 years and it was done 100% right. It was done using the best quality PPG paint products. It was over $1500 in primer and paint materials alone. The car can be seen and i will personally take you for a ride in the vehicle. I cannot allow test drives because insurance will not cover anything if i'm not driving. Any other information you would like to know you can call me and ask. My name is Kenny and phone number is 845-590-5480. The asking price is 60,000. I am interested in hearing other offers. I also have pictures available throughout the full restoration process for anyone interested in seeing the work done.

Im just gonna add information to it this time around along with a lot more pictures to show how nice the car really is. If your interested in hearing it run send my son a message to 845-549-3201 and he will send you a video to your cellphone or email. As part of the restoration the vehicle received new quarter panel skins, wheel houses, truck floors, truck floor extension panels, and rear valence with extensions. The only other rust repaired on the vehicle was a small patch placed near the battery tray and a small patch placed in the rocker panel behind the front right fender. This car was a very solid vehicle when the restoration was started, I just wanted to redo it properly to truly make it a super nice and rust free car. There are 2 pictures showing each side of the inside lip of both quarter panels showing how nice it is and no rust even starting. The bumpers were triple chrome plated show quality during this restoration. New door handles, mirrors, chrome trim pieces, special order sized 15x10 magnum 500 wheels and tires, radiator, weather stripping, interior carpet and the list just keeps going on. 90% of the parts on the car were either replaced or reconditioned. Very few things remain to make it perfect. I have a lot of receipts totaling well over 15,000 from the restoration just in parts. I posted the fender tag for anybody who may want to decode it and see all the options. Any questions send a message or call

Cars.com runs 11-second quarter with Dodge Charger Hellcat

Mon, Jun 1 2015

The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and its Challenger sibling are two of the heroes of the modern performance world. With a headline-grabbing 707 horsepower from a supercharged 6.2-liter V8, their output even shames many supercars. But how quick can one really cover a quarter mile? Cars.com recently decided to find out by taking a Charger Hellcat to the drag strip to see if the sedan lived up to Dodge's 11-second claims. The results were quite impressive. After 13 quarter-mile runs of adjusting variables like the tire pressures and the car's various electronic aids, the Charger Hellcat managed a pass in 11.03 seconds at 126.61 mph – the pinnacle result of the day. This car was mechanically stock and wore the optional Pirelli P Zero tires. According to Cars.com, other quick sprints reached 11.09 seconds and 11.1 seconds, which even beat the site's 11.41-second best from a Challenger Hellcat last year. Getting the Hellcat's prodigious power down without losing traction was a challenge, even on the summer tires. Cars.com thought it had a run that could have dropped below 11 seconds, but then the wheels spun. Using the factory-recommended pressures, the Charger Hellcat was no still slouch with an 11.27-second time recorded, but taking things down to 25 psi proved the quickest at the strip. We already knew that the Charger Hellcat was a wonderful vehicle for eating up huge gulps of asphalt at high speeds and could verify its 204-mile-per-hour top speed (quite a bit faster, incidentally, than the Ferrari California T's 196 mph top-speed). Apparently, the 11-second quarter-mile claim is just as accurate. Also, for any curious owners, the Cars.com story divulges many of the tweaks required to reach this seriously quick time. Chrysler earns $1.7B in 2012, revises product plans for US

Wed, 30 Jan 2013

Hot on the heels of Ford's earnings announcement for the year that was, Chrysler today reported a 2012 net income of $1.7 billion, up substantially from the comparatively minuscule $183 million profit earned in 2011 when it repaid its US government loans.
Chrysler's good year ended with an excellent fourth quarter that saw net income rise 68 percent from $225 million in 2011 to $378 million. Where are all those extra earnings coming from? Market share, which Chrysler saw increase to 11.4% last year on sales of 1.65 million vehicles. In fact, the Auburn Hills, MI-based automaker out-paced the industry's market growth of 13 percent last year with sales up 21 percent for the year.
The company also revealed an updated product plan for its Chrysler Group and Fiat brands that looks all the way out to 2016. It's an updated version of the plan introduced in 2009 shortly after Fiat took control of the American automaker, and includes such new additions as an Alfa Romeo model, likely the 4C, to be introduced in the US this year, as well five more Alfa models by 2016. Likewise, Fiat will be growing by an additional seven models in the coming few years.

Hypermiling a Ram 1500 EcoDiesel to 38.1 mpg

Fri, May 9 2014

You never quite know what Wayne Gerdes has up his sleeve. The man who coined the term hypermiling is always looking for adventurous ways to prove that anyone – even you... yes, you – can eke out more miles per gallon just by changing the way you drive. Saying that is easy. Proving it by going on outlandish cross-country drives is hard. But for Gerdes and his team of fuel economy fiends over at CleanMPG, hard is half the fun. Our latest adventure appeared, at first glance, to be nearly impossible. Which is why we always answer the phone when Gerdes calls. He likes to take journalists along on his drives, not only to try teach us how to hypermile but also to prove that we can be taught. The first time I 'helped' him and his team was when we got over 30 miles per gallon in a 2011 Ford F-150 XLT with the EcoBoost 3.5-liter V6. The EPA rated that truck with at just 16 mpg in the city and 22 on the highway. So, we'll count that trip as a success. Next up was a cross-country drive last fall in a trio of Audi TDI vehicles to prove that you don't need to drive extra slow to beat the EPA numbers. In fact, we made it from Los Angeles to New York City in just over 46 hours, cramped but not cranky. We had once again proven that how you drive is hugely important to your fuel usage. Our latest adventure appeared, at first glance, to be nearly impossible. The EPA says that the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel we would be driving gets just 22 combined mpg (19 city and 27 highway). Gerdes' idea was to drive it as far north from Houston, TX towards Detroit, MI as we could go on one tank. The day before we left, our itinerary got an extra stop. Instead of taking one of the official Shell Eco-marathon prototype vehicles to Detroit, it was decided to bring the winning diesel-powered prototype from the just-finished event to The Henry Ford Museum, where it had been arranged the car would be displayed. The winning car was built by a small team (just four students) from Sullivan High School in Sullivan, IN, who managed to beat a number of college teams with a score of 1,899.32 mpg. That target would be a bit out of reach for the Ram, but could we get 1,000 miles from the tank? Since the truck has a 26 gallon tank (officially, anyway), that would mean the EPA says we could only go 702 miles, assuming all highway driving. Could we make up 300 miles with careful driving? That spells both challenge and fun.
