You are bidding on a 1966 Dodge Charger .383, which I have owned for several years.  This car runs and drives great.  I have done all of the heavy lifting, so someone simply needs to give this car some TLC to make it awesome.

The following is a summary of everything I have done to the car (I am sure I am leaving something out):

  • The engine has not been rebuilt, but was pulled, and had all the gaskets and seals replaced.  Select parts were repainted.  The engine well was sand blasted and painted.  The engine runs very strong.
  • There are no issues with the transmission - it shifts perfectly.
  • I added a brake booster and dual reservoir master cylinder, so the car stops very well.
  • Carb, alternator, water pump, etc. have been replaced, as have all the hoses and belts.  I have an extra carb. and rebuild kit that come with the car.
  • The car was completely rewired - new harness, wiring, etc.
  • All lights, instruments, etc. work great.
  • The instrument cluster is a Chrysler, period specific cluster, but not original to the car.  It looks and works great.  I do have the original that can be rebuilt, which comes with the car.
  • The head lamps open and close perfectly!
  • The carpet and headliner were replaced.
  • The wheels were sand blasted and repainted.
  • The floor pans and trunk pans have been replaced.

The following are issues that need to be addressed:

  • This car needs to be sand blasted and repainted.  It was sandblasted down to bare metal about 5-6 years ago.  I personally ensured any and all rust was replaced with new metal, with as little filler as possible.  However, the paint has faded and bubbled in some areas, and there are very obvious issues with the paint (it sat outside at a Classic Car dealership in the area for a year or so).
  • Some of the metal has pitting, which is common.  The chrome needs attention.
  • The tires need to be replaced before the car can be driven any significant distance.
  • Although I replaced all the carpet and the headliner, I have done very little to the rest of interior.  The seats need re-upholstered.
  • The emblems are what I would consider driver quality, but could be refurbished.
  • The A/C does not work.  I have not attempted to fix, and do not know what it would take to resolve.

In short, this car is structurally and mechanically sound.  The vast majority of the issues are cosmetic, so you could drive and enjoy this car while these issues are addressed.  Please feel free to contact me for more details - I am committed to a fair transaction for both myself and the buyer.

2015 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack

Fri, 24 Oct 2014

We all knew That Kid. As a freshman, he was a big kid, overweight but surprisingly strong. Still, he was often picked on for his size. Then, he chatted with the football coach, who convinced him that his true calling was on the team's offensive line. After a season on the freshman squad and a summer of two-a-days, this mild-mannered, husky high schooler returned for his sophomore year as a big, imposing, solid piece of muscle. Needless to say, the same bullies that picked on him were praying he'd forgotten about them as a 10th grader.
That's the V8-powered 2015 Dodge Challenger. It arrived on the scene with a max of 425 horsepower and a bit of a weight problem. It completed its proverbial freshman year with a nice 2011 refresh, where the SRT8 was bumped up to 470 hp, but it still had some work to do.
Enter 2015, and fresh off three months of constant burpees and wind sprints, the newest Challenger is as big and powerful as it's ever been, but it's now got poise and potential, and my goodness, it's fun in a way that Dodge's muscle car has never been.

NHTSA is investigating FCA shifters for roll-away accidents again, this time the rotary units

Tue, Dec 20 2016

It seems FCA's shifter troubles aren't over yet. Now, just a few months after issuing a recall to resolve user-related issues with its monostable shifters, the company is again under investigation by NHTSA. The issue is related to the potential for cars to roll away when the rotary-style shifter is not properly placed in park. Two FCA models are the subject of this investigation: the 2013–2016 Ram 1500 and the 2014–2016 Dodge Durango. NHTSA estimates about 1,000,000 vehicles would be affected if a recall is issued. The investigation was started following 43 complaints of vehicles rolling away while supposedly being in "park." Among the complaints were reports of 25 crashes and 9 injuries. NHTSA does point out that in every incident, the parking brake was not engaged. A representative from FCA also gave us an official statement regarding the investigation: "FCA US is cooperating fully with NHTSA's investigation, the scope of which is limited. Other vehicles equipped with rotary shifters are not included. In accordance with prudent practice, the Company joins NHTSA in urging all drivers to use their vehicles' parking brakes." View 35 Photos As mentioned above, other Chrysler products with rotary shifters, such as the Pacifica minivan and 200 sedan, are not involved in this investigation. One of the key differences, as the representative told us, is that these vehicles have electronic parking brakes that automatically engage if the driver does not select park and then opens the door with the seatbelt unbuckled. The Ram 1500 and Durango feature mechanical, manually operated parking brakes and therefore cannot activate the brake automatically. Because this is currently an investigation, an exact cause for the incidents has yet to be determined, and none of the vehicles have been recalled. It's possible there could be a mechanical defect. However, the issue could be a confusing interface causing user error, as was the case with FCA's monostable shifters, where drivers think they've put the car in park but actually haven't. Something that indicates it could be a case of confused users is that NHTSA also opened an investigation into 2012–2014 Jaguar XF and Land Rover Range Rover Evoques for similar issues. Both vehicles use a rotary shifter and have had roll-away complaints levied as well. Even if it is a case of user error, FCA and Jaguar Land Rover may still have to recall their vehicles.

Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat #0001 raises $825,000 for charity

Sun, 28 Sep 2014

$60,000 doesn't strike us as a lot to pay for a muscle car with 707 horsepower on tap. $825,000... now that's a different story. But, according to the official SRT blog, that's how much one generous and eager buyer paid for the privilege of getting his (or her) hands on the very first new Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.
Decked out in Stryker Red paint that's usually reserved for the Viper, the supercharged Challenger bearing the VIN 0001 went up for auction at the Mandalay Bay hotel and casino in Las Vegas on Saturday under the auspices of Barrett-Jackson. By the time bidding ended, the gavel dropped at $825,000 - nearly 14 times the sticker price - 100 percent of which will benefit Opportunity Vehicle, a charity that aids the intellectually handicapped in the Las Vegas Area.
