Up for your consideration is a 1970 Dodge Challenger Convertible. this car was originally equipped with a 318" V8 engine, with auto trans. NOW, ...it has a 528" HEMI with an 18 spline HEMI 4-speed manual trans, 4 wheel disc brakes, New interior, and ice-cold A/C!!! This car has just completed a 13 month rotisserie restoration. Almost every part on this car is new or restored. All the wiring harnesses, weather stripping, interior, seats, door and rear panels, carpet, convertible top, bumpers, and much more!

BODY:

I started with a mostly rust free California body shell.  It has been disassembled, media blasted to bare metal, and rebuilt from that point.  The floors and frame were very solid. The trunk pan had a little rust in the center, so a new trunk pan was installed. The hood and deck lid are new. Due to dents and dings, the front fenders and passenger rear 1/4 panel are replaced. I also installed frame connectors that add strength to the structure of the car (due to the torque generated by the 528" HEMI). The body (including undercarriage) was sprayed with an epoxy primer, high-build primer, and painted with PPG black base coat/clear coat. The convertible top, installation kit, and all seals are new. There is also a top boot included. The windshield, door glass and conv. top glass are new. Front and rear valances are New. Front and rear bumpers are New. ....and more!

INTERIOR:

The interior is mostly all new:  I special ordered from "Legendary", New seat skins with cloth inserts, New door and rear panels, New carpet, New wood grain inserts, complete New wiring harnesses front to rear (including dash harness),  rebuilt OEM gauge cluster, New stereo with CD/DVD player and (2) TV screens, New speakers. Ice cold "Vintage-Air" air conditioning, and more!

DRIVETRAIN:

The original drivetrain was long-gone before I purchased this car, so if you're not "numbers matching", why not go "HEMI"!!!  This engine is a modified 528" HEMI Mega block, with a stroker crank, roller valve train, aluminum heads, bigger cam, stock HEMI exhaust manifolds, dual welded exhaust, HV oil pump, Mopar Performance finned aluminum valve covers, 7qt oil pan, external oiling system, "March" Billet Aluminum serpentine pulleys, with "Vintage-Air" A/C, double roller timing chain, K&N air filter, Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes, New fuel tank. New fuel and brake lines. New 15" chrome Magnum 500 wheels, with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires.  ...There are many other items that are new as well!

The transmission is an 18 spline "HEMI" 4-speed, with new clutch, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing. The shifter is a New Hurst "Pistol-Grip", with new linkages and hardware.

NOTE:

This car is sold "as-is, where-is". All shipping costs are the buyers responsibility. ( I might be able to deliver for a reasonable cost, and within a reasonable distance. I have a 30' enclosed car hauler and truck). All sales are final. No return or refunds. A $1000 deposit is required to be paid within 24 hours of the end of the auction (you may use paypal, or a bank wire transfer), and the balance to be paid in full within 5 days of auctions end. Cash in person, or bank wire transfer is accepted. I have a clear title in my name. Neither the car nor title will leave until all funds have cleared. Call me if you have any questions at: (734)-341-3186.

Thanks, Jeff.

Brits recreate iconic Bullitt chase scene

Tue, 13 May 2014

Recreating the famous chase scene from Bullitt has become almost an art form in its own right. We've seen it done in a music video, with scale models and even in commercials. There are few films that are as defined by a single scene as the 1968 classic. Even if you don't know a single beat of the plot, the Highland Green Ford Mustang racing a Dodge Charger through the hilly streets of San Francisco is famous. It's so well known that the Silverstone Classic has created a homage to promote its celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Mustang at this year's event in July.
Filmed around the famous UK circuit, the short film generally gets the key points of the scene right. It even has a green Volkswagen Beetle that keeps reappearing, as in the movie. Unfortunately, its Steve McQueen stand-in looks a little too old for the role. While the video shortens the chase considerably, it's still great to see these '60s behemoths leaning and sliding around the track. Scroll down for a touch of nostalgia thanks to one of the greatest scenes ever in cinema - we've got both the recreation and the original chase seen from the movie waiting for you.

2015 Dodge Charger shows off its new look in New York [w/videos]

Thu, 17 Apr 2014

With a new look inspired largely by the Dart compact, the 2015 Dodge Charger made its New York Auto Show debut today. Along with the interior and exterior changes, an eight-speed automatic becomes standard across the range.
What hasn't changed is the choice of engines under the Charger's long hood. A 3.7-liter V6 serves as the base mill, and can be had in both rear- and all-wheel-drive varieties, while the 5.7-liter V8 is an optional item and can be had in rear-drive only. Outputs are also carried over from last year, with 292 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque for the six-pot, while the Hemi V8 delivers 370 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque.
The new exterior treatment is a fairly large departure from the styling tone set by the Charger since its reintroduction to the US market in 2006. The blacked-out, crosshair grille and new headlamps are the biggest changes for 2015, though there are other, less immediately noticeable updates, such as the more rounded "Racetrack" taillamps that, like the front fascia, draw some inspiration from the Dart.

Aficionauto drives Vin Diesel's fast and furious 1970 Dodge Charger

Mon, 15 Sep 2014

The Aficionauto host Christopher Rutkowski has a real passion for original and replica cars from movies and television, whether they are from James Bond, Jurassic Park, or incredibly obscure Japanese shows. However, he might have outdone himself this time because he hopped into one of the biggest automotive stars of contemporary cinema. This 1970 Dodge Charger appeared in Fast & Furious and came back in Fast Five, where Paul Walker actually drove it. The menacing, black muscle car will make its return to the franchise in the seventh film, too.
The Fast and Furious Charger is a real beast no matter how you look at it. The interior is nothing more than two seats and a roll cage, and as the video shows, this thing vibrates constantly like a coiled mass of muscle ready to strike. The camera can barely stay in place most of the time. Also, Dom's Dodge is more than happy to do a smoky burnout and leave the driver partially deaf afterward from its wonderful, ear-splitting engine roar.
The Aficionauto also interviews the man who controls the keys to this beast. Bob Hartwig was once an F-15 pilot, but he also loved Hollywood vehicles. Now, he's a partner at Picture Car Warehouse, a company with about 850 cars that supplies vehicles to film studios. This Charger definitely seems to be Hartwig's favorite in the collection, as it should be.
