I am posting this ad for a friend who does not own a computer. I am simply reporting the information as it was given to me. You are welcome to call the owner, Pat, at 217/485-5502 for honest answers to any questions you may have.

For sale is a 1973 Dodge Challenger which has just undergone a complete, semi-professional restoration. It is not a professional, numbers matching restoration, but essentially a hot rod. It is solid and very fast. We shot many pictures and a You Tube video to try to give you a clear understanding of the car's features.

This 1973 Dodge Challenger came from the factory with a 340 cubic inch engine and a four speed transmission. A 440 cubic inch magnum engine was installed in the 1980's. The body has 69,508 miles on it but the engine has only 14,179. The car spent much of the intervening time in storage and was pulled out recently for cleaning, priming, and trimming.

The engine is equipped with a high rise intake and an Edelbrock 650 carburetor. It utilizes a Jackson timing gear drive rather than a timing chain and sounds like it is equipped with a blower. You can hear this for yourself in the You Tube video. It is equipped with Accel dual points and coil. Custom headers dump into 2 1/2 inch pipes and turbo mufflers for a rich, nasty sound. The engine is equipped with dual oil filters and a windage tray in the pan which keeps the oil from splashing. An electric fuel pump has been installed. There is no air conditioning.

The transmission uses a Hurst 4 speed shifter with a short throw and a short pistol grip. A narrowed Ford Shelby Mustang rear end has been installed along with a custom made stainless steel fuel tank. There are drum brakes on all four corners. The tires are new: 14"x7" Brookstone in the front and 15"x8" Cooper Cobras in the rear. The car was set up to be a street and strip legal dragster in the 80's.

The car has a fiberglass front clip including fenders, hood, and bumper. The body is solid with only some minor rust through behind the rear wheelwells. We took pictures of the area so you can see. While Pat is an experienced metal man, he left this undone so you could see exactly what the condition of the car is. There is no rust in the floor, trunk, firewall, or doors. The underside of the car has never been painted. The inside of the trunk has been painted for cosmetic purposes. The paint was stripped by hand to the original factory color and then sprayed with PPG flat black 2-part epoxy primer/sealer. Pat's intention was to prepare the car so the future owner could later paint it the color of his or her choice.

The original interior has been cleaned and treated with Armorall. The front seats have some tears at the seams but are otherwise clean and functional. Seat covers for this car are relatively inexpensive. The rear seat has a small tear on the side. The door panels are very good for the age of the car. The car needs a headliner and a new dash pad. All the instruments and controls inside the car work. The heater needs new hoses and the radio works but needs new speakers.

As mentioned above, you may see a video on youtube that a friend took with his cell phone. Not a professional movie maker but it will give you the idea, and you can call Pat at the number listed above for further details.

The video can be found at: http:www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMmqua-fzHQ.

We will require from the winner of the auction a $500 deposit within 2 days payable thru paypal or a U.S. Postal money order. If not received within 48 hours, the auction result will be cancelled. Please make sure you have a clear understanding of what you are bidding on by reading the description carefully, studying the pictures and video, and talking with Pat about any unanswered questions. Have fun and Good Luck on your bidding.

Mopar '13 Dart priced from $25,485*

Wed, 12 Jun 2013

For the past few years, Chrysler's Mopar in-house tuning division has created its own one-off versions of several cars in the automaker's portfolio, including the Mopar '10 Challenger, Mopar '11 Charger and Mopar '12 300. For 2013, the black-and-blue up-do has been given to the new Dart compact, and Chrysler has announced that the limited-edition sedan is now available for order, priced from $25,485, not including *$995 for destination.
Like previous Mopar edition vehicles, the Dart is painted in a signature Pitch Black exterior with an offset blue racing stripe. The sedan sits seven millimeters lower to the ground and gets visual add-ons like a chin spoiler, decklid spoiler and rear diffuser, along with gloss black 18-inch alloy wheels.
Performance wise, the Dart's 1.4-liter MultiAir inline four-cylinder engine remains, producing 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The Mopar car gets a sport-tuned exhaust system along with revised power steering calibration and beefier brakes.

Stellantis earnings rise along with EV sales

Wed, Feb 22 2023

AMSTERDAM — Automaker Stellantis on Wednesday reported its earnings grew in 2022 from a year earlier and said its push into electric vehicles led to a jump in sales even as it faces growing competition from an industrywide shift to more climate-friendly offerings. Stellantis, formed in 2021 from the merger of Fiat Chrysler and FranceÂ’s PSA Peugeot, said net revenue of 179.6 billion euros ($191 billion) was up 18% from 2021, citing strong pricing and its mix of vehicles. It reported net profit of 16.8 billion euros, up 26% from 2021. Stellantis plans to convert all of its European sales and half of its U.S. sales to battery-electric vehicles by 2030. It said the strategy led to a 41% increase in battery EV sales in 2022, to 288,000 vehicles, compared with the year earlier. The company has “demonstrated the effectiveness of our electrification strategy in Europe,” CEO Carlos Tavares said in a statement. “We now have the technology, the products, the raw materials and the full battery ecosystem to lead that same transformative journey in North America, starting with our first fully electric Ram vehicles from 2023 and Jeep from 2024.” The automaker is competing in an increasingly crowded field for a share of the electric vehicle market. Companies are scrambling to roll out environmentally friendly models as they look to hit goals of cutting climate-changing emissions, driven by government pressure. The transformation has gotten a boost from a U.S. law that is rolling out big subsidies for clean technology like EVs but has European governments calling out the harm that they say the funding poses to homegrown industry across the Atlantic. Stellantis' Jeep brand will start selling two fully electric SUVs in North America and another one in Europe over the next two years. It says its Ram brand will roll out an electric pickup truck this year, joining a rush of EV competitors looking to claim a piece of the full-size truck market. The company plans to bring 25 battery-electric models to the U.S. by 2030. As part of that push, it has said it would build two EV battery factories in North America. A $2.5 billion joint venture with Samsung will bring one of those facilities to Indiana, which is expected to employ up to 1,400 workers. The other factory will be in Windsor, Ontario, a collaboration with South KoreaÂ’s LG Energy Solution that aims to create about 2,500 jobs. The EV push comes amid a slowdown in U.S.

QB says University of Alabama offered him a Corvette to play football

Fri, 16 May 2014

The University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team could be in some hot water, following a pair of posts on social media.
The first post was sure to raise a few eyebrows on its own. It's an Instagram of sophomore running back Derrick Henry standing in front of his new Dodge Challenger (we're guessing it's an R/T based on the fender stripes). Complete with a custom set of wheels, the image was enough to trigger more than a few questions about where an unemployed student-athlete came up with the money for such a purchase. Now, this could be harmless. Henry, flush with a full-ride to Bama could have convinced his parents to get him something nice with his college fund.
The second post, though, is a straight-up accusation. It comes from former West Virginia Mountaineer and current CFL quarterback Pat White, who posted the following on his Facebook page.
