Here's the deal.  This is a 1970 Dodge Challenger that I have been in the process of restoring for about 3 years.  It started out life as a 1970 Dodge Challenger Deputy, 6 cyl 3 speed on the floor w/console, plum crazy purple with black interior.  I found this car in a friend's field and started the restoration process.  It would be better to list what I've done in order probably:

Body:

I replaced the trunk floor and frame rails with very nice originals from a 1972 Dodge Challenger.  There is a seam in front of the shock mounts because a 72 and 70 have different access holes.

The quarter panels have been replaced with new metal from AMD Direct, spot welded in place.

The driver's side door skin was installed though I did make a couple mistakes and some smoothing needs to be done.  It looks nice, but not show-quality and there is one warp that can be fixed.

I have the passenger side door skin and it goes with the car.

The floor was in great shape - which is why I bought the car - but there was rust in the tranny tunnel area which was boxed.

The entire interior, trunk and undercarriage of the car was blasted and Rhino lined.

The passenger fender is nice, but for some reason the headlight bucket isn't on it.  I have both the original fenders and they go with the car and this should be very easy to tack on.

The driver's fender was supposedly repaired by a body man though the body line toward the front isn't great.  Again, these would be pretty nice driver quality fenders but not show quality.  They do sell repop fenders though, I just didn't invest in a set.

The engine bay was cleaned up and painted with 1 coat epoxy primer, a coat of primer/filler, and three coats of 2004 Viper yellow.

I have a brand new R/T hood from AMD that goes with the car (beautiful)

I have a brand new decklid with spoiler holes that goes with the car (beautiful)

A brand new rear valance (R/T) with exhaust cutouts from AMD is installed.

The front valance is the VERY NICE factory valance.

Interior:

The interior of this car was actually pretty decent though I was missing the front seats.  Both door panels were very VERY nice with very little chalk.  The quarter glass panels were a little chalky but again in decent shape.  The kick panels are perfect.  The dash pad of course was shot but I have a brand new dash pad for the car.  The guages are nice and white (very beautiful shape) as is the buttons on the dash, but it is a NON-RALLEY DASH.  The radio is missing unfortunately.

I have a driver's seat (green, decent seat tracks) but do not have the passenger, and I do have the back seat.

Suspension:

I dropped the 8 1/4 rear end and found a 8 3/4 from a 1972 'Cuda. The housing was powder coated and rebuilt with a 3:23 posi by KNG Body Shop in Wilber, NE. VERY TIGHT, BRAND NEW. I hung the rear end with Mopar Performance leaf springs and shackles.

The K-Frame, being a 6 cyl car, had to be replaced and again was replaced with a '72 'Cuda part.  It was blasted and powder coated, as were a set of R/T tortion bars.

New suspension with poly bushings was installed, along with a set of factory 11" disc brakes off of a hemi Challenger. The discs have been turned, everything painted/powder coated looks beautiful.

Engine/Transmission:

I found a rebuilt EGR 318 and have bolted it to an OD 4-speed. Yes, not the best combo but it was enough to get it on the road and with the lower first gear and higher 4th it would have had some power plus fuel mileage. Remember, this car was built with the eventual goal of dropping a hemi in it - the suspension was built for it - but with the economy the way it was I opted for a cheaper combination off the bat.

Missing parts/issues:

Passenger seat is missing.

Obviously needs a headliner and carpet.

If you want a show car, you probably want to replace or get the front fenders professionally repaired. Honestly, what's good enough for me might not be good enough for you.

I don't have a driveshaft that will bolt to the 8 3/4, I just have the factory one.

I have all the clutch parts, but not the bushings etc that will be needed to install the clutch linkage.

The driver's side door handle I have but is broken.

All in all this is a very nice project to keep working on and it really could be on the road without a whole lot of work.  I am trying to be very honest and really don't want to sell the car, it's just that personal problems came up and it's necessary.  If you have any questions please call Brandon at 402-580-2222.  The best time to reach me is after 5:30 on a weekday or the weekend, but if you call and miss me I will try to get back with you.  I can e-mail or text additional pictures as needed.

Please local pickup, and if you are not a serious bidder I really don't want to deal with that.  I will work out possible arrangements to meet you somewhere to deliver the car, but payment must have already been received - I'm not wasting my fuel.

Chrysler recalling 280k Dodge Ram 1500 pickups over axle seizures

Fri, Dec 19 2014

Following a June investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will be recalling 280,000 Dodge Ram pickups from model year 2005. The issue, NHTSA told The Detroit News, centered on a loose pinion nut, which could cause the rear axle to seize and, potentially, the driveshaft to detach. The affected vehicles were built between January of 2004 and August of 2005, while of the 280,000 trucks, only 257,000 were sold in the US market. According to The News, the recall will begin on February 13, and will see owners report to dealerships to have "a retention feature" added to the pinion nut.

Dodge Dart falls short of Consumer Reports Recommended, Caddy XTS and Lincoln MKS, too

Thu, 22 Nov 2012

The Dodge Dart, Cadillac XTS and Lincoln MKS all failed to earn a "Recommended" rating from Consumer Reports. When it came to the compact Dart, the organization's testers thought the vehicle offered a quiet cabin, solid-feeling chassis and nimble suspension, but the new model ultimately fell short of the coveted rating due to powertrain issues. The institute's reviewers found the base 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine to be underpowered and noted "drivability issues" when the available turbocharged 1.4-liter four was paired with the optional dual-clutch transmission (some of our editors disliked it paired with the six-speed manual). CR also dinged the latter powerplant for sounding "raspy." For what it's worth, we think the forced-induction engine offers an excellent and playful exhaust note, but that's just us.
As for the XTS, CR lauded the car for its luxurious cabin, but the vehicle's experience was dulled by its finicky CUE infotainment interface. Overall, the big Cadillac scored much higher than its cross-town rival from Lincoln. While testers found the American luxury sedan to offer a quiet ride and quality fit and finish, they felt the MKS delivered a "cramped driving position, ungainly handling, uncomposed ride, and limited visibility." Ouch. At the end of the day, both cars fell short of rivals from Japan, Germany and Korea. Check out the full press release below with more details, along with CR's musings on the Chevrolet Spark and Lexus ES.
