Offered for your bidding is this 1980 Datsun 280ZX hardtop coupe in very good condition. A true Japanese sportscar classic, this particular 280 is a hardtop model (no T-tops) and comes with the original L28 2.8 liter inline 6 mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. Finished in the facrtory Rallye red with black pinstripe over original red crushed velour, this Z is cosmetically in very good condition with a few very minor blemishes - some paint has deteriorated under the gas filler opening, 2 nickel-sized dents on the roof, and some chipped paint on the driveers door edge. In terms of rust, this Z has solid floors and frame rails, showing only 1 small spot on the pass. side rear jack point pinch weld and a very small amount (1" long) under the pass. side windshield frame (see pictures). The paint is believed to be a quality re-paint done in the proper factory Rallye red color and is gorgeous when viewed in direct sunlight. The interior is also in very good condition-original and in-tact, the original seats are in fantastic condition with no rips or tears, all of the accessories work: power windows, power mirrors, cluster, odo., speedo., tach, fuel guage, oil press., volt meter, digital clock, even the original Hitatchi am/fm casette and speakers work! The head liner, glass, and carpets are in very good condition. There does seem to be a bit of sun-fade on the vinyl on the back of the seats, the drivers floor mat has a "heel hole" which does not go through to the floor carpet, and there is 1 crack in the upper surface of the dash (see picture).
Mechanically, this Z runs and drives great: no idle issues, full power without a miss from the fuel injected L28 inline 6-pulls strong and smooth to redline, buttery-smooth gear changes in all gears from the 5 speed, and not a hint of slippage from the clutch. The only thing I could fault in terms of driving performance are some of the rubber bushings in the suspension and the shock absorbers-they may be ready for replacement as the handling feels a touch "too compliant", but this car does not exhibit any dramatic handling issues - very comfortable on the highway at 85 mph. The tires look to have been replaced recently and the braking performance is good. This 280ZX can be driven daily and they are quite rare in this condition. I have a clean and clear MO. title in hand and I ask you to call me with any questions about this classic sportscar at 636 393 9371. Thanks for looking!

Subaru Legacy pitted against Roadkill project cars
Fri, 05 Sep 2014There's an evergreen debate among auto enthusiasts about whether they would prefer to have the latest and greatest car of today or a certified classic from yesteryear. What if you had to further define that, though, and the choice was between a brand new 2015 Subaru Legacy or a turbocharged Datsun 240Z with a hatch that wouldn't close? Roadkill aimed to find out that and more in one of its best videos to date.
According to the hosts, Subaru came to them, handed over some money and challenged Roadkill's project cars against its latest Legacy. The result is every bit as good (or better) than any automotive-themed show you could find on television.
Things start simple with a figure-eight race in a rodeo arena with the Subaru taking on Roadkill's 1968 Ford Ranchero, originally built for ice racing. From there the Legacy races a 1968 Dodge Charger with no windows around and off-road rally stage. Finally, the Subie goes head-to-head against the Rotsun, the aforementioned turbocharged 240Z, through an abandoned neighborhood. Plus, there's a bonus drag race challenging them all.
Datsun expands low-cost revival with new Mi-Do in Moscow [w/video]
Fri, 29 Aug 2014Those who were disappointed when Datsun changed its name to Nissan over three decades ago may have been pleased to see the marque revived last year, even as a budget brand. Nissan's counterpart to its ally Renault's Dacia budget brand, Datsun has been steadily expanding its lineup of low-cost transportation for developing markets with the debut of the Go hatchback in India, the Go+ minivan in Indonesia and the On-Do sedan in Russia. And now it has returned to Moscow to reveal its fourth model, the Mi-Do.
Based closely on the On-Do sedan (which itself is based on the Lada Granta) the Mi-Do takes on a five-door hatchback bodystyle but with no more frills. It uses the same front-drive chassis with the same wheelbase as the sedan, but its chopped tail makes it a good foot and a half shorter overall. Into that compact shape, Datsun has fitted dual airbags, ABS and... well, that's about it. It's got a 1.6-liter, eight-valve inline-four kicking out a grand total of 87 horsepower to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. Bare bones, this is.
While delivery of the first On-Do sedans commences next month (with the first example going to an IT specialist in Omsk), the Mi-Do is set to begin delivery early next year. Scope out the video and press release below from the Mi-Do's reveal at the Moscow Motor Show.
