45k Original miles ... 5 spd manual

1978 Datzsun 280Z This car is a survivor and needs someone to love and respect it, we don't get to drive and enjoy it enough so its time to move on, let someone else enjoy it ...

The Guy I bought it from had gotten it for his wife to try and save the marriage ... He searched high and low for a good solid car without rust, he ended up traveling from NY to Virginia to get this car. Its a zbart car, and is great shape inside and out... The frame rails are usually rusted on these cars, this one is in great shape... solid with no rust... there is a little rust that needs attention on the rear hatch (shown in pictures) very minimal... original interior, seats are in great shape not cracked... car has air conditioning that works... original radio... however FM doesn't work I think the antenna needs to be fixed or replaced... has 8 track player in glove box.... works but possibly head needs to be cleaned sounds garbled....

Engine has never bin apart ... with 45K the only thing I did was polish the valve cover,  I wanted to go further but just didn't get the opportunity... I know the injectors have bin replaced, I have all the original equipment ... I did cat back exhaust right after we purchased the car as well as performance eibach springs lowering the car one inch with new struts making the car handle better... Tires are in great shape... brakes were done all the way around , rotors pads etc... they squeak at times cause I put the new pads on that came with the car when I bought it ... I feel the material was old or glazed from sitting for years .... I would recommend swapping out the pads for a newer set ... Installed a new starter and alternator last year... has lots of extra parts including every window door and hatch seal for the car new in packaging ... car has a sunroof (not stock... doesn't leak) beautiful pearl white paint job! I have barely driven the car all year... I don't want to see it rot away so happy bidding ... this is a great  opportunity for a solid vintage car...

Malaise Era All-Stars

Fri, 17 May 2013

A few weeks ago, we bid a fond happy 40th anniversary to the automotive dark ages of 1973-84 that have come to be known as "The Malaise Era" - the performance ice-age when 160 horsepower was a lot and a 0-60 time of under 10 seconds was remarkable. Like music in the 1980s, everything in automobiledom didn't suck, however. There were a few bright spots. Here are five of our favorites:

Datsun previews new budget sedan for Russia [w/video]

Thu, 13 Mar 2014

Nobody does cars on the cheap quite like the Renault-Nissan Alliance. The former part of the equation already has its Dacia brand of cost-effective, no-frills vehicles that have become a favorite of Top Gear co-host James May, and last summer, the latter revived its Datsun nameplate for a budget brand of its own.
The reborn Datsun launched in India this past July with its Go hatchback, returned in September with the Go+ minivan and revealed the Redi-Go concept just last month. And now it's given us our first look at an upcoming budget sedan developed specifically for the Russian market.
The as-yet unnamed vehicle (which we'll bet will incorporate the word "go" into its nameplate somehow) is set to debut on April 4, where it will launch the Datsun brand in Russia. Few details are available at this point, but the low-cost sedan was designed in Japan to offer Russian drivers "an engaging driving experience, peace of mind ownership and accessibility at the right and transparent price, with a competitive Total Cost of Ownership."

Nissan IDx Nismo and IDx Freeflow concepts are a bridge to the Datsun 510

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

We're not sure if someone from The Adjustment Bureau stopped by Nissan's PR department to explain the IDx Nismo and IDx Freeflow concepts, but the company's odd press release can't diminish our love for these two show favorites. We had been told to look out for an unnamed Datsun 510 BRE homage, and once we saw the brothers IDx, we knew we'd found them. But the press release doesn't mention anything about the Datsun 510 Brock Racing Enterprises, nor does it mention one Mr. Peter Brock, the man who won two Trans-Am championships in the Seventies for the nascent Japanese budget brand.
Instead, it declares that the cars were the result of a co-creation product development process with "digital natives," said natives being the whippersnappers born after 1990. Nissan says it worked with the young'uns to create two different expressions of "their desire for a basic, authentic configuration for a car." If that's true, it appears that what the kiddies really want are... two different homages to the Datsun 510 BRE that Peter Brock used to win two championships in the seventies for the nascent Japanese brand.
The IDx Freeflow - the "ID" is for "identification," the "x" is "the variable representing the new values and dreams born through communication" - takes the casual approach, with a light khaki exterior hue, a minimalist interior decked out in denim and a console shifter that works a continuously variable transmission. The IDx Nismo is out for blood, from its crimson interior to its five-point harness to its bolt-on flares and sidepipes. We aren't told what the digital natives requested for powerplants, but that's alright; if this is what "co-creation" looks like, we're not entirely against it except where that "CVT" is involved.
