This 280z is dated January of 1975 which is the first month of the 280z production. It's my Daughters first car which is driven daily. I got it through a friend who got it through a trade. I have 2 Bill of Sales of previous ownerships. I also have a copy of the window sticker (matching serial numbers) to prove that this is a Southern States car that was bought new in Ga. I began restoration/preservation in July of 2012 which included new shocks all around, strut bars and rubber, sway bar kit front and back, front brake hoses, calipers with brake pads, brake manifold reservoir, lower control arm bushings, rack and pinion boots, ball joints, tie rod ends, car alignment, exhaust gaskets, exhaust from the manifold back with quiet muffler, electric fan with temperature control on the radiator, all heater hoses including the hard to get hoses under the dash, vacume hoses most have been replaced, complete tune up with air and fuel filters, upper and lower radiator hoses, battery, new dash cover the original has some cracks, weather stripping on doors and on two small windows, hood bumpers and under the hood wind/rain seals, custom factory cut & sewn carpet front and rear with padding, floor mats, drivers seat reupholstered, custom plastic welded speaker boxes, very little rust located in the usual areas mostly surface rust on floor boards and rear lift gate all fixed before paint job in March 2013. Rust preventer paint put on floor pans and under carriage also sprayed undercoating to cover white paint overspray. Painted under the hood and door jams, painted the tail light assemblies. Car has full size spare with original jack, chocks, and tools. I also include original owners manual and Datsun touch up paint. I probably forgot to mention a few things but all in all this is a great restoration car / street racer or everyday driver. I am selling only for my daughter to get a newer car for college. I will include a new Stainless Steel performance muffler with slanted tip, original radiator fan with shroud, original air intake tube, new key start switch, painted fiberglass tail fin, and two 3" orange stripes I thought might look good on the drivers side fender. I also have most of the reciept to prove that top grade parts were used. Thank you for looking and good luck.

Datsun reveals new On-Do budget sedan in Russia [w/video]
Tue, 08 Apr 2014When Nissan revived the Datsun brand name, it essentially hit the "undo" button on the rebranding it undertook decades ago. But this time, the Datsun name is being used solely as a budget brand for developing markets. The reborn marque launched in India this past July with its Go hatchback, returned in September with the Go+ minivan and revealed the Redi-Go concept just last month. And now it's back again with the new On-Do sedan.
Launched in Moscow by CEO Carlos Ghosn, the On-Do was designed and engineered in Japan specifically for the Russian market - Nissan's fifth largest worldwide - where it will be built at the AvtoVaz plant in Togliatti. Decidedly budget-oriented, the Datsun On-Do is a four-door, five-seat econo-box measuring 172 inches long, 67 inches wide and 60 inches tall with an 18.7 cubic-foot trunk which Datsun describes as class-leading. Punctuating an otherwise bland shape is a large front grille and lighting front and rear that looks (and very well might be) bigger than the wheels.
Not that the Datsun On-Do needs a big contact patch to transfer power to the road: motivation is provided by a 1.6-liter engine with a grand total of - wait for it... wait a little longer - 87 horsepower. Which might strike you as a reasonable amount of muscle, considering the 400,000 rubles Datsun is getting for the On-Do (but consider that translates to about $11,300). That's a couple grand more than what Nissan gets for the Micra in that other giant northern country, or about the same amount it gets for the Versa in the US (which sells in Russia for 499k in rubles) - both of which are powered by what is in all likelihood the same 1.6-liter four but producing 109 hp. Of course Russia has different tax rates than the United States or Canada, but with such little power, the Datsun would fall into Russia's lowest tax bracket.
Malaise Era All-Stars
Fri, 17 May 2013A few weeks ago, we bid a fond happy 40th anniversary to the automotive dark ages of 1973-84 that have come to be known as "The Malaise Era" - the performance ice-age when 160 horsepower was a lot and a 0-60 time of under 10 seconds was remarkable. Like music in the 1980s, everything in automobiledom didn't suck, however. There were a few bright spots. Here are five of our favorites:

Roadkill pits every project car against each other
Sat, 22 Feb 2014The guys behind Motor Trend's monthly Roadkill series have collected nine of their favorite project cars from their videos and pitted them against each other in a battle royale to determine a winner. It's 44 minutes long, but it's completely worth the investment of time.
The cars run the gamut from a 1973 Chevrolet Ramp Truck, a 1975 AMC Pacer and a legitimately impressive 1967 Chevy Camaro, and they are pitted against each other to see which is the fastest around an autocross course. The drivers include Roadkill's two hosts and Motor Trend's Johnny Lieberman and Carlos Lago. It's reminiscent of the best episodes of Top Gear and worth a watch.
So it's the weekend - the perfect time to relax. Grab your preferred beverage, get comfortable and enjoy 44 minutes of some seriously ratty but utterly cool project cars as they are throttled within an inch of their lives (or past it). Scroll down to check out the video.
