1974 Datsun 260z with original engine and ~73,000 original miles. Took the car on trade for a motorcycle, and don't really want/need it. I would classify this as a daily driver/project vehicle. Which runs excellently, but has a few minor issues that should be addressed. Desirable and more rare 2 seat model with smooth shifting 4 speed manual gearbox.

Gauges and lights all work (except for clock). Recently installed (by previous owner) headers and 3in FULL exhaust system from the headers back. 2 ram pipes with itg air filter, new electric fuel pump, new cables, spark plugs.

The engine runs perfectly, with no smoking, misses, leaks, or stuttering. New plugs wires and distributor cap. Clutch grabs smoothly and without hesitation or slip. 4 speed transmission snicks through gears with no signs of weakness or synchro issues.

Body is straight, with no dents. Rust appears to be surface only, with very little on the underbody.

Also includes box of parts. Looks like a couple of rear calipers for a rear disc brake conversion, and other odds and ends

Interior is very clean, needs drivers side door panel cleaned.

Best sounding car I have ever driven. Will upload video of engine/exhaust this weekend.

Known issues: Paint needs work. I would put it at 4/10. It is fine on the sides, but needs the hood/roof/trunk touched up (for daily driver use), or resprayed if you want. I have highlighted problematic areas in the pictures. Passenger window will not roll down- came off track- but will stay up. needs one rear tire (or two for the rear, <$60 each), ac does not work, no radio, but wired, needs front end alignment (pulls slightly right at high speed) and wheels/tires balanced, needs new brake pads and/or the rotors inspected. Battery discharges fairly quickly when engine is off.

Title is clean and clear, and displays the 72,800 miles as actual

Overall this is a great candidate for a daily driver, restoration, or custom project.

Thanks and happy bidding!

First new Datsun in decade sketched, set for Indian reveal

Mon, 01 Jul 2013

Nissan's Datsun nameplate revival will begin with two models bound for the Indian market. Nissan has released sketches of a five-door hatchback based on the Micra (codenamed K2) and a top-down view of a hood that could potentially be from a sedan.
The company's press release says all will be revealed on July 15 in New Delhi, India. The Datsun lineup will be first offered in 2014 to that country's ride-deprived residents as well as Indonesia and Russia. Later in 2014, South Africa will join the list.
We've heard Nissan plans for Datsuns to share platforms with company-owned Lada. In January, we heard the projected price tag could be around $3,000 USD to compete with Chinese imports. The official press release (which can be read in full below) says nothing about either of these reports, however.

This father and son duo terrorize the UK countryside in Datsun 240Z pair

Wed, 12 Nov 2014

The Datsun 240Z got a lot of things right when it was introduced, with handsome styling, strong performance and a reasonably affordable price. And while the coupes grew a strong fan base in the US, they remained quite a rarity in the UK. Decades later, a father and son in England have latched onto the car and bonded over their shared love for two completely opposite takes on this Japanese GT
There's already quite a collection of exotics in Mel Streek's garage, and his rat rod 240Z, which he calls the Ratsun, definitely doesn't fit with the rest. On the outside, the Datsun looks ready to fall apart, but it's mechanically perfect underneath. Alternatively, Mel's son, Ollie, has a completely different take for his Z with its perfect, shining paint.
Both Zs sound amazing, though. They have a mechanical, somewhat course exhaust note that's intoxicating to hear. You can definitely tell there's some work going on under the hood. Check out this video from Petrolicious for a father and son who both find something to love in these classic Japanese coupes.

37K miles in a 1967 Datsun Roadster

Tue, 11 Mar 2014

When we think of comfy, long-distance road cars, there are a few obvious choices. A Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Bentley Continental GT or, assuming fuel efficiency isn't paramount, a Range Rover are all good options for a road trip. But what if that road trip was 37,000 miles? Maybe something more reliable but still comfortable, then, like a Honda Accord. What about a 1967 Datsun Roadster?
As insane as it sounds, Scott Fisher is doing just that, running a Datsun 1600 Roadster across North America and racking up 13,500 miles in his first three months on the road. His total journey will see him pile over 37,000 miles on his red convertible. The car is lightly modified, but most of the work is for the sake of reliability and comfort, with a five-speed manual 'box, an upgraded radiator and electronic ignition.
Fisher's trip hasn't been all smooth, with a few typical bits of trouble. He also ran into some deer in Utah, quite literally, clipping one of the animals, which delivered quite a bit of damage to the passenger's front fender (hence the rear three-quarter view in our lead shot). Still, the car seems to be holding up well, as shown in this latest video from Petrolicious.
