I am offering for auction, my '73 Datsun 240Z. I have owned this car for two years. Purchased from a close friend, who lost interest in finishing the car. I have driven the Z daily, since I picked it up. Unfortunately, I have other responsibilities requiring me to let this car go to a new home. My cars and trucks are always built to suit my individual taste, by myself and close friends. I enjoy the time spent making improvements to already cool vehicles.

Some of the work I have done to the Z, was a necessity due to it's daily driver duties. Most of my initial work was done in the name of safety. Once those were taken care of, the fun began. A list of parts ordered from The Z Store include: Retrofit 3 point seat belts, upgraded headlight and running light wiring harnesses, ATO fuse box, and stainless braided brake lines. These additions made the car more safe for the road.

Then I replaced some items that just didn't fit the car well. I purchased a new factory Nissan battery tray, mat, hold down, and hardware. These held the new Super Start battery, securely in the engine bay. To compliment the upgraded headlight wiring, I added Hella H4 housings, and their Yellow Star bulbs. The night time visibility is miles ahead of the original system, now.

Inside you'll sit in knock off Nismo seats (that I got a good deal on), which are reasonably supportive, and grip a Nardi steering wheel. The wheel is removable, for easy ingress and egress, if you so desire. Makes a decent theft deterrent, too. The carpet has been replaced with a kit from MSA.

For better brake performance, I went with new drilled and slotted rotors, Hawk brake pads, and rebuilt calipers. Also, the rear drum brakes were replaced with a disc brake conversion kit, from Datsun LLC. The brake booster later failed from old age, and was replaced. The car stops beautifully!

Keeping the Z tight in the corners are Suspension Techniques sway bars, front and rear. They compliment the Eibach lowering springs and Tokico struts. With the 225/50R15 Kumho tires on 7 inch wide Rota RB wheels, the car is glued to the road.

This Z came to me with a later 280Z, 5 speed transmission and a new clutch. It's worked flawlessly, during the last couple years of driving pleasure. If you get out on the open road, the fifth gear is excellent for freeway cruising, while the other four gears are pure fun!

The color of the car is a current issue, Marine Corps, Lusterless Forest Green. I originally painted the car this color, to protect the body from the elements. I knew it would be a few years before I was ready for body and paint, as I bought this car to drive, rather than hibernate in my garage waiting for the next show. As it turns out, people love the look of it. I added the matte black stripes to the fenders, and a fiberglass 'BRE' air dam,for a little more character.

There was a point in 2013, where I was very motivated to put triple carburetors under the hood of my Z. I started shopping around for new or used carbs, weighing my options, when I stumbled across a local Father and Son selling a complete L26 with triple Weber's. They were building a V8 for their 260Z, and parting ways with this 6 cylinder. It was still in the car, so I met up with them to hear it run. The engine sounded good, with a nice lope from the cam. I decided to buy the whole setup. This included the Weber 40 DCOE carbs, Cannon manifold, ITG foam air filters, MSA header, high volume oil pump, and a Mallory Unilite distributor. I had this in the car in no time flat. What a difference! The car pulls hard, and sounds amazing, from idle to redline. With the engine, I installed a new 70 amp internally regulated alternator, and Bosch starter. I run NGK plug wires, and change the plugs every other oil change. I use Bosch oil filters (made by Purolator) and Lucas Classic Car motor oil. The engine likes the high ZDDP.

Other bits of maintenance I've done to the car include: new driveshaft u joints, front wheel bearings, water pump, hoses, belt, etc. This car would be great to finish, or like I did, drive and enjoy! I'll include some detailed photos. Feel free to ask questions about the Z!

*Shipping will be the responsibility of the winning bidder, if necessary. I will do my best to accommodate you, with meeting a driver or yourself.

First new Datsun in decade sketched, set for Indian reveal

Mon, 01 Jul 2013

Nissan's Datsun nameplate revival will begin with two models bound for the Indian market. Nissan has released sketches of a five-door hatchback based on the Micra (codenamed K2) and a top-down view of a hood that could potentially be from a sedan.
The company's press release says all will be revealed on July 15 in New Delhi, India. The Datsun lineup will be first offered in 2014 to that country's ride-deprived residents as well as Indonesia and Russia. Later in 2014, South Africa will join the list.
We've heard Nissan plans for Datsuns to share platforms with company-owned Lada. In January, we heard the projected price tag could be around $3,000 USD to compete with Chinese imports. The official press release (which can be read in full below) says nothing about either of these reports, however.

Datsun officially reborn with Go model for India [w/video]

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

In March of 2012, Nissan announced the return of its historic Datsun brand. Datsun used to represent the Nissan brand in a number of markets, but its badge hasn't been worn on a new model since 1981. In 2013, though, it has been relaunched as the Japanese manufacturer's budget offering in the emerging markets of India and Russia.
The model that will lead that charge, at least in India, is the Go, a car that pays tribute to the very first Datsun, the DAT-GO.
The operative term with the Datsun brand is: "budget offering." Don't step inside the Go and expect beautiful hides or brushed metals (it's being sold in India, after all). The instrument cluster features a simple speedometer, while the five-speed manual and the center stack above it are rather barren. It's not without luxuries, though, as iPod-style connectivity is available through a Mobile Docking Station.

Meet the man who took a year sabbatical to drive his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster

Tue, 28 Jan 2014

A quiet drive in the country can be the most relaxing thing in the world. What if it didn't have to end, and you could keep driving for a week, a month or even a whole year? That's what Scott Fisher is doing by taking a one-year sabbatical from work and driving his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster around North America.
"I had owned a manufacturing business in Las Vegas for 16 years. I knew I needed to kinda' get out, and unwind, and get my mojo back," said Fisher.
Fisher's trip has covered over 30,000 miles through 44 states and 7 Canadian Provinces, and it is not over yet. He left from his home in Las Vegas, NV, last spring and drove to the Pacific. From there, he drove up the coast to the Canadian border and aimed the car for the Atlantic. He just posted on his blog about visiting the Nissan headquarters and museum in Franklin, TN, and his next stops are Mississippi and New Orleans, LA.
