Mileage has never turned over. Runs and drives great with 56,000 original miles! (Yes... you have read that correctly... 56K) You can drive it right out of my garage and bring her home to yours!. The dash is absolutely perfect and shiny as if it were brand new. The passenger's seat cover is the only interior piece I would recommend replacing due to a bit of fading and a 2 inch long rip on the bottom along the seam. The car drives smoothly without any grinds from the trans. I did swap the Trans to a 280Z 5 speed trans with a Nismo R180 rear diff for increased mileage as well as a set of 2 piece enkei classic wheels. They simply do not make cars like this anymore. I have averaged 42MPG on the freeway in this Z. Again, this is a rust free car and a "survivor" meaning the paint is very clean but you will find very minor imperfections. (The car was indeed built 42 years ago)"

No dents, a few imperfections with paint (has never been cut and buffed) as well as a small section of paint cracking below driver's side mirror. Driver's side mirror does not stay in adjustment. Passenger's side seat is a bit faded and has a small seam tear.

Rare, very clean and well maintained car, low mileage, 5 speed (done properly with rear diff as well) Rust free

I am not the original owner. I have owned the car for about a year now.

37K miles in a 1967 Datsun Roadster

Tue, 11 Mar 2014

When we think of comfy, long-distance road cars, there are a few obvious choices. A Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Bentley Continental GT or, assuming fuel efficiency isn't paramount, a Range Rover are all good options for a road trip. But what if that road trip was 37,000 miles? Maybe something more reliable but still comfortable, then, like a Honda Accord. What about a 1967 Datsun Roadster?
As insane as it sounds, Scott Fisher is doing just that, running a Datsun 1600 Roadster across North America and racking up 13,500 miles in his first three months on the road. His total journey will see him pile over 37,000 miles on his red convertible. The car is lightly modified, but most of the work is for the sake of reliability and comfort, with a five-speed manual 'box, an upgraded radiator and electronic ignition.
Fisher's trip hasn't been all smooth, with a few typical bits of trouble. He also ran into some deer in Utah, quite literally, clipping one of the animals, which delivered quite a bit of damage to the passenger's front fender (hence the rear three-quarter view in our lead shot). Still, the car seems to be holding up well, as shown in this latest video from Petrolicious.

Datsun officially reborn with Go model for India [w/video]

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

In March of 2012, Nissan announced the return of its historic Datsun brand. Datsun used to represent the Nissan brand in a number of markets, but its badge hasn't been worn on a new model since 1981. In 2013, though, it has been relaunched as the Japanese manufacturer's budget offering in the emerging markets of India and Russia.
The model that will lead that charge, at least in India, is the Go, a car that pays tribute to the very first Datsun, the DAT-GO.
The operative term with the Datsun brand is: "budget offering." Don't step inside the Go and expect beautiful hides or brushed metals (it's being sold in India, after all). The instrument cluster features a simple speedometer, while the five-speed manual and the center stack above it are rather barren. It's not without luxuries, though, as iPod-style connectivity is available through a Mobile Docking Station.

Subaru Legacy pitted against Roadkill project cars

Fri, 05 Sep 2014

There's an evergreen debate among auto enthusiasts about whether they would prefer to have the latest and greatest car of today or a certified classic from yesteryear. What if you had to further define that, though, and the choice was between a brand new 2015 Subaru Legacy or a turbocharged Datsun 240Z with a hatch that wouldn't close? Roadkill aimed to find out that and more in one of its best videos to date.
According to the hosts, Subaru came to them, handed over some money and challenged Roadkill's project cars against its latest Legacy. The result is every bit as good (or better) than any automotive-themed show you could find on television.
Things start simple with a figure-eight race in a rodeo arena with the Subaru taking on Roadkill's 1968 Ford Ranchero, originally built for ice racing. From there the Legacy races a 1968 Dodge Charger with no windows around and off-road rally stage. Finally, the Subie goes head-to-head against the Rotsun, the aforementioned turbocharged 240Z, through an abandoned neighborhood. Plus, there's a bonus drag race challenging them all.
