For sale is my '72 Datsun 240Z. I have owned & enjoyed for 10 years and I am the 3rd owner. This is an original paint Lime/Yellow car that now runs & drives great! It has a 260Z motor with a fresh rebuild and Z-Therapy carbs. The engine is smooth & quiet with zero valve train noise or any other noises, problems, leaks or smoking. It SCREAMS! The original block & crank are included in sale. It has a re-surfaced flywheel, new clutch disc, pressure plate, T/O bearing, pilot bearing & original 4-speed trans with new synchros, seals & gaskets. It shifts thru all gears like new! The exhaust system is new. The alternator, starter & fuel pump are new too! All work was done professionally by a local Nissan journeyman mechanic and local Datsun Cub member. The engine & engine bay are clean & leak-free! This 240 was bought new by Dr. David Orth from Murfeesboro Datsun in Nov. '72, and I'm including the original bill of sale, owner's manual, warranty book & touch-up paint (still good). Now for what is left to be done; the seats need to be re-done. It could use new carpet. The dash has (2) cracks and needs replacing or dash cover. That's all interior wise. The headliner is good, steering wheel like new, all interior panels original and very good, original radio & power antenna(working) and included, all gauges work, all lights, turn signals, flashers and rear de-fogger work like they should. As for the body; There is no rust in the battery area or rocker panels. I've had the rear hatch panel cut out & re-placed with an exact reproduction & spot welded in like it was originally. The driver side fr. fender has been repaired and is ready for bodyman. A Datsun purist would replace the fender but it is workable as is. Both rear quarters need patch panels (which I am including) and the driver side has been riveted in place and ready to be welded in. The passenger side front fender needs patching and the patch is included as shown. The driver floor has (2) small places (2"X4") total that need patching. The front sub-frames need plates welded in but in no way weak or structurally defective, just small rusted out areas! The rear bumper & over-riders are newly re-chromed! The front bumper is OK, but should be re-chromed to be perfect. The odometer shows 66,000 miles and I believe to be correct but who knows. This car completed with 4-6 thousand dollars of bodywork & paint is a 10-12 thousand dollar car, or drive it and work on it as you go! Call me if you want to inspect & drive. I have nothing to hide from you about this car and if you see/drive it you will buy it! Call me, I'm Paul @ (502) 552-0220

Nissan IDx 'in the plan' for production, needs support from fans [w/poll]
Wed, 15 Jan 2014If there's a trend in the auto industry we can firmly get behind, it's the small, light and affordable rear-drive coupe. The positive critical reception to the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ twins has encouraged other manufacturers to look at building their own rear drivers, and even a few to show actual concept cars based on the idea. The Chevrolet Code 130R from 2012 and more recently, the Nissan IDx twins that were first shown at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show both come to mind, as does the brand-new Kia GT4 Stinger Concept.
Nissan trotted out the IDx Nismo and the IDx Freeflow for another showing in Detroit and we'll admit to being totally smitten with both cars. Again. The duo draw inspiration from the iconic Datsun 510, a lightweight, affordable rear-driver that remains a cult favorite decades after production ended.
Now, a report from our friends at AutoWeek reveals that we may, possibly, hopefully see a production IDx, provided fans make a strong enough case for it. "It's in the plan," Nissan product boss Andy Palmer told AW. According to the report, Palmer said the IDx is "into the first sage of the development process. The next stage is project validation and then looking at the business case. It's no one's intent to waste millions of the company's money, so obviously we have a good feeling about this one."
Datsun officially reborn with Go model for India [w/video]
Mon, 15 Jul 2013In March of 2012, Nissan announced the return of its historic Datsun brand. Datsun used to represent the Nissan brand in a number of markets, but its badge hasn't been worn on a new model since 1981. In 2013, though, it has been relaunched as the Japanese manufacturer's budget offering in the emerging markets of India and Russia.
The model that will lead that charge, at least in India, is the Go, a car that pays tribute to the very first Datsun, the DAT-GO.
The operative term with the Datsun brand is: "budget offering." Don't step inside the Go and expect beautiful hides or brushed metals (it's being sold in India, after all). The instrument cluster features a simple speedometer, while the five-speed manual and the center stack above it are rather barren. It's not without luxuries, though, as iPod-style connectivity is available through a Mobile Docking Station.
Malaise Era All-Stars
Fri, 17 May 2013A few weeks ago, we bid a fond happy 40th anniversary to the automotive dark ages of 1973-84 that have come to be known as "The Malaise Era" - the performance ice-age when 160 horsepower was a lot and a 0-60 time of under 10 seconds was remarkable. Like music in the 1980s, everything in automobiledom didn't suck, however. There were a few bright spots. Here are five of our favorites:
