1970 Datsun 240z Low Vin# Series1 Survivor With 106,000 Miles on 2040-cars
Delray Beach, Florida, United States
1970 Datsun 240Z Low VIN# Series1 Survivor with 106,000 miles HISTORY: This 240Z was manufactured on 06/1970. The 240Z was purchased in Westbend, WI on 10/23/99 with 96,260 original miles. Flew there and drove it back to Florida. The 240Z was in good mechanical condition, although the body had a dent in nearly every panel. The drivers side wheel arch had been replaced with a new panel which had been welded, blended and primed. The exhaust and the floor pans were shot. The exhaust was replaced with 6-1 headers and the MSA (MotorSport Auto) Turbo Exhaust system which came with a Thrush, California Turbo muffler. The exhaust note is very authoritative but not harsh. The floor pans and rear frame rails were replaced on both sides with sheet metal, rails, and undercoated. The body work, paint, windshield, headliner, and weather seals were redone in August of 2002. The car was finished with a set of 16x7 set of Panasport wheels. For the past 15 years the 240Z was garage kept and driven for pleasure as well as Z Club events. INTERIOR: Dash is original in perfect condition which is very rare however various gages are not working. Carpets have been replace (the originals were kept), Seats; the driver side needs to be redone and the passenger is in good condition, Door and Interior panels are in good condition, some tears have been mended. The jack and related tools are complete and in excellent condition. The full size spare tire is stowed in the wheel well. BODY: The 240Z was repainted with PPG Concept Ferrari 2001 Giallo (yellow) Modena 12 years ago. The body work and paint still looks like new. BRE rear spoiler is attached to the rear deck lid. There are a couple scrapes, there is a scrape on the lower front side of the hood, the front right fender has a quarter sized gouge. The valence has been bent to allow room for the larger tires on the Panasport rims and tires. Engine bay is still in the original yellow Datsun paint. There are a few areas that have etching primer/overspray from the body work and silver POR15 that was applied as surface rust prevention/treatment. Frame rails and floor pans were repaired and they are very solid. There are some weak spots in the original part of the rails that was not replaced. There was a small section of the front frame rail (above the swaybar mount) that was reinforced to provide structural rigidity. Bright trim is almost perfect. Bumpers are in good condition with some chrome fading on the rear and a small dent in the front. All Glass is in very good condition.
WHEELS AND TIRES: 16 Inch Panasport wheels with Yokohama tires. These are REAL Panasports that are in very good condition, no scratches curb rash or paint scuffs. The Yokohama tires look good, but they are old and should be replaced.
ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN: 106,000 miles showing on the odometer and the original (numbers matching ) 240Z engine runs amazing. The hand choke cable was replaced in 2000, it operates smooth. The Hitachi SUs work very well. The motor has the original E31 head. It has the original 4 speed transmission and the R180 rear. It has an upgraded 1 wire 100 Amp alternator system. The starter is an upgrade from an 83ZX. The clutch is relatively new however it slips under heavy acceleration.
SUSPENSION: The suspension was refreshed by the previous owner prior to1999. The springs may be lower by 1 inch according to the previous owner. The original anti-sway bar is on the front.
EXHAUST: As stated above the full exhaust system was replaced front to back with the 6 into 1 header and the MSA turbo exhaust system. It was professionally mounted to gain the most amount of ground clearance. It has a nice authoritative tone. Because of its age, there is surface rust but should remain issue free for many years if garage kept and driven in dry weather.

Datsun expands low-cost revival with new Mi-Do in Moscow [w/video]
Fri, 29 Aug 2014Those who were disappointed when Datsun changed its name to Nissan over three decades ago may have been pleased to see the marque revived last year, even as a budget brand. Nissan's counterpart to its ally Renault's Dacia budget brand, Datsun has been steadily expanding its lineup of low-cost transportation for developing markets with the debut of the Go hatchback in India, the Go+ minivan in Indonesia and the On-Do sedan in Russia. And now it has returned to Moscow to reveal its fourth model, the Mi-Do.
Based closely on the On-Do sedan (which itself is based on the Lada Granta) the Mi-Do takes on a five-door hatchback bodystyle but with no more frills. It uses the same front-drive chassis with the same wheelbase as the sedan, but its chopped tail makes it a good foot and a half shorter overall. Into that compact shape, Datsun has fitted dual airbags, ABS and... well, that's about it. It's got a 1.6-liter, eight-valve inline-four kicking out a grand total of 87 horsepower to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. Bare bones, this is.
While delivery of the first On-Do sedans commences next month (with the first example going to an IT specialist in Omsk), the Mi-Do is set to begin delivery early next year. Scope out the video and press release below from the Mi-Do's reveal at the Moscow Motor Show.
Malaise Era All-Stars
Fri, 17 May 2013A few weeks ago, we bid a fond happy 40th anniversary to the automotive dark ages of 1973-84 that have come to be known as "The Malaise Era" - the performance ice-age when 160 horsepower was a lot and a 0-60 time of under 10 seconds was remarkable. Like music in the 1980s, everything in automobiledom didn't suck, however. There were a few bright spots. Here are five of our favorites:

Meet the man who took a year sabbatical to drive his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster
Tue, 28 Jan 2014A quiet drive in the country can be the most relaxing thing in the world. What if it didn't have to end, and you could keep driving for a week, a month or even a whole year? That's what Scott Fisher is doing by taking a one-year sabbatical from work and driving his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster around North America.
"I had owned a manufacturing business in Las Vegas for 16 years. I knew I needed to kinda' get out, and unwind, and get my mojo back," said Fisher.
Fisher's trip has covered over 30,000 miles through 44 states and 7 Canadian Provinces, and it is not over yet. He left from his home in Las Vegas, NV, last spring and drove to the Pacific. From there, he drove up the coast to the Canadian border and aimed the car for the Atlantic. He just posted on his blog about visiting the Nissan headquarters and museum in Franklin, TN, and his next stops are Mississippi and New Orleans, LA.
