Up for sale is my 1972 Datsun 240Z. This car is truly something special and the ONLY reason its up for sale now is because my parents are in some serious financial trouble due to hurricane sandy. They haven't been able to bounce back as soon as they have hoped especially with new issues arising with the house (joys of being a homeowner right?). So with that, on to the Z. It currently has an L28ET from an 1982 280ZX which runs great, compression test was done back in December I believe and it checked at 155psi in each cylinder (I was very surprised that it was so equal across all 6). Most of the swap work was done by the previous owner and anything that was not properly sorted out was corrected by Tidewater Z here in VA. At Tidewater Z the car was looked over by their mechanic/specialist with over 20 years of experience with Z's and he was blown away by the condition of the car. No rust issues, engine runs very smoothly, transmission and turbo run great with no issues. The car has been garaged by the previous owner and now myself as well. A lot of time (and $) has went into this car because I was preparing it to be with me for MANY years to come but unfortunately that won't happen. The car can be driven daily if you please but I drive it during good weather only. This car literally turns heads. It looks amazing. It recently won top pick at Springfest here in VA which was awesome since they had over 600 cars registered. It has new struts/springs/shocks (eibach), new alternator upgrade kit with new belt to deal with the proper voltage of the L28et, new exhaust with glass pack, new down pipe, all proper valve adjustments have been made, wheels have been properly CnC'd and balanced to fit (15x10.5). All lights work, interior was redone with new carpet in the rear, refurbished 15 gallon fuel tank installed with proper hoses so you have plenty of fuel for long road trips, new weatherstripping, new shifter bushings, new valve cover gasket, new braided steel lines for brakes (front brakes are from a Z31). Not sure what else to include but please feel free to ask. Again it has no issues with rust, not even in the notorious spots like near the battery or frame rails. This car was not intended to be sold at all but its keep it and watch my family struggle or sell it and actually help them. My mechanic has tried to talk me out of this as much as possible saying "you will probably never find a Z in as good condition as this ever again, especially with the L28ET" but family comes first. So here's your chance to own something special, I would love to sell this car to someone who can appreciate this car as much as I do.
The only "problems/work" the car needs: -Needs a fuel gauge -2 inch crack in front bumper (damaged in shipment, nothing awful but I was going to replace the bumper with the one that has vents if I was keeping her) -no radio (if thats important to you, I had no plans of ever adding one) Serious Inquiries ONLY, Please contact me for more pics or videos if you'd like. Fiat contemplating sub-brand to compete with Dacia, Datsun
Tue, 05 Feb 2013You can add Fiat to the admittedly short list of automakers considering a low-cost brand to rival Dacia. The inexpensive Eastern European brand from Renault-Nissan has performed on the balance sheet like a premium model line, and the money the alliance is taking off the table is encouraging other players to deal themselves in. Pretty soon Nissan's Datsun sub-brand will join the Dacia party, going on sale in Russia, Indonesia and India and will claim even more rubles, rupiahs and rupees for the parent company. Volkswagen recently said it will make a decision this year on a budget line for the Chinese market. With the euthanasia of Lancia and plans to move the Fiat brand upmarket, company CEO Sergio Marchionne wonders aloud to Automotive News Europe whether there could be room for a new budget brand underneath Fiat.
We're told that the initiative has been in the idea box for five years and even moved to the stage of name considerations, like Innocenti, but worries about profit kept it from realization. If such a range were to be developed, Marchionne says it couldn't be built in Italy and stay within budget, and the company is "analyzing its manufacturing capacity outside of Europe to see if a low-cost brand is viable."
Datsun previews new budget sedan for Russia [w/video]
Thu, 13 Mar 2014Nobody does cars on the cheap quite like the Renault-Nissan Alliance. The former part of the equation already has its Dacia brand of cost-effective, no-frills vehicles that have become a favorite of Top Gear co-host James May, and last summer, the latter revived its Datsun nameplate for a budget brand of its own.
The reborn Datsun launched in India this past July with its Go hatchback, returned in September with the Go+ minivan and revealed the Redi-Go concept just last month. And now it's given us our first look at an upcoming budget sedan developed specifically for the Russian market.
The as-yet unnamed vehicle (which we'll bet will incorporate the word "go" into its nameplate somehow) is set to debut on April 4, where it will launch the Datsun brand in Russia. Few details are available at this point, but the low-cost sedan was designed in Japan to offer Russian drivers "an engaging driving experience, peace of mind ownership and accessibility at the right and transparent price, with a competitive Total Cost of Ownership."
Datsun debuts new seven-seat Go+ in Indonesia [w/video]
Wed, 18 Sep 2013The Datsun name may have long since been replaced by Nissan, but the old brand is making a comeback - in certain markets, at least. Nissan relaunched the Datsun brand in July as its new budget brand for developing markets with the debut of the Go hatchback, and has now followed up with the addition of the larger Go+.
Set to be built in Indonesia at Nissan's plant in Purwakarta, the Go+ debuts today in the capital of Jakarta as the second model in the new Datsun lineup. The seven-passenger minivan features flexible seating in a compact form 13 feet long, powered by an unspecified 1.2-liter engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
Nissan isn't saying much else about the model, but hopes the new Datsun twins will account for half of its sales in Indonesia within three years. The low price target for both models - set to come in at less than 100 million rupiah ($8,700) - ought to help it get there. The lineup is then scheduled to reach other markets, starting with India, Russia and South Africa next year.
