1981 DATSUN 280ZX TURBO - AUTOMATIC
Pristine Condition - Engine, Interior and Exterior, 100% stock, No Modifications I purchased the Z from the original owner in Modesto, CA (the last photo in listing is a photo of the original owner). This is my first classic sports car and it has been one of the most fun, reliable vehicles I have owned. I've driven it 2-3 times a week since I've owned it, turn-key and reliable The timing belt, battery and all hoses were changed by the original owner, A/C blows cold with K&N Air filter. The only upgrade I added were the headlight covers and replaced the headliner which is a brand new grey headliner to match the original, I also had the Z oil changed about 2 weeks ago with Mobile One Full Synthetic 10/30 doesn't need to be changed for 5K miles. This Z runs and handles better than any car I have owned. The Turbo gauge kicks in and the car performs just as you want on the freeway. The Z takes 87 unleaded gas, which I get only at Chevron or Shell. Under the T-Top is DynoPad installation so the car stays cool. The photos don't lie, this car is truly a beauty. Recently, I had it at a car show, and one of the judges said for the car to be all stock original, its one of the best examples of an 1981 he has ever seen and if there was a Datsun or Nissan classic category for its originality and condition, I would have won best of show hands down. From the attention you get while driving, you would think you are driving a new corvette or audi, it gets that much attention. Also included are the t-top bags under the rear mat as well as one of the original California license plates, the original owner said the other plate fell off the car when he owned it. The Z passed CA smog test and is registered through May 24, 2015. Comes with Chilton's Datsun Z and ZX Shop Repair Manual from 1970-1982 and original receipts and paper work from original owner. Tires are brand new with only 5,000 miles on them (4) 215/60R-15 Defender $159 per tire with tubeless valve stems and wheel balance, total cost 762.87 installed and purchased at Les Schwab.
I am listing the car locally, so if it sells I will remove the ad from Ebay. Any questions feel free to message me and if you have 0 feedback, please do not bid. Be the lucky one and buy this car! Good luck! On Sep-22-14 at 10:31:37 PDT, seller added the following information: Z has only 129K original miles and I am the 2nd owner. On Sep-22-14 at 13:29:02 PDT, seller added the following information: Paint is original and in excellent condition, no tears or rips on seats, interior is solid. On Sep-22-14 at 19:56:02 PDT, seller added the following information: California car its entire life, absolutely no rust at all, car always garaged and meticulously maintained. Tire brand is Michelin Defender tires: ranked 5 out of 5 stars. |

37K miles in a 1967 Datsun Roadster
Tue, 11 Mar 2014When we think of comfy, long-distance road cars, there are a few obvious choices. A Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Bentley Continental GT or, assuming fuel efficiency isn't paramount, a Range Rover are all good options for a road trip. But what if that road trip was 37,000 miles? Maybe something more reliable but still comfortable, then, like a Honda Accord. What about a 1967 Datsun Roadster?
As insane as it sounds, Scott Fisher is doing just that, running a Datsun 1600 Roadster across North America and racking up 13,500 miles in his first three months on the road. His total journey will see him pile over 37,000 miles on his red convertible. The car is lightly modified, but most of the work is for the sake of reliability and comfort, with a five-speed manual 'box, an upgraded radiator and electronic ignition.
Fisher's trip hasn't been all smooth, with a few typical bits of trouble. He also ran into some deer in Utah, quite literally, clipping one of the animals, which delivered quite a bit of damage to the passenger's front fender (hence the rear three-quarter view in our lead shot). Still, the car seems to be holding up well, as shown in this latest video from Petrolicious.
Subaru Legacy pitted against Roadkill project cars
Fri, 05 Sep 2014There's an evergreen debate among auto enthusiasts about whether they would prefer to have the latest and greatest car of today or a certified classic from yesteryear. What if you had to further define that, though, and the choice was between a brand new 2015 Subaru Legacy or a turbocharged Datsun 240Z with a hatch that wouldn't close? Roadkill aimed to find out that and more in one of its best videos to date.
According to the hosts, Subaru came to them, handed over some money and challenged Roadkill's project cars against its latest Legacy. The result is every bit as good (or better) than any automotive-themed show you could find on television.
Things start simple with a figure-eight race in a rodeo arena with the Subaru taking on Roadkill's 1968 Ford Ranchero, originally built for ice racing. From there the Legacy races a 1968 Dodge Charger with no windows around and off-road rally stage. Finally, the Subie goes head-to-head against the Rotsun, the aforementioned turbocharged 240Z, through an abandoned neighborhood. Plus, there's a bonus drag race challenging them all.
