Amazingly, the wife has finally given me permission to offer our beautiful 280ZX for sale. The "Z-Car" is the best selling sports car of all time. Whenever I take the car out, I always receive many, many compliments. With the compliments of course comes the obligatory "Z Stories!" It seems like everyone I run into has either owned a Z car or has had a friend or family member who used to own a Z. And boy do they have stories! LOL!!!
I am only the second owner, purchasing it in 1995. Although we love "our baby," my wife and I simply don't drive it. It's lucky to be driven 150 miles/year. It just sits in the garage under the car cover way too much. It needs to go to a new owner who will drive it, enjoy it and create their own memories.
This is one of the nicest, cleanest Datsun 280ZX's you'll find anywhere. The car has never seen a winter. It has the preferred 5 speed manual transmission; Approx. 111k miles; and runs beautifully! The car has been adult owned its entire life and has never been beaten on. It has been truly babied.
The car is beautiful, but it's not quite perfect. I mean it is 33 years old. Just a few items to point out, specifically:
1. The speedometer cable just started making noise. It may need to be greased or replaced.
2. Some of the vinyl has started to pull away in the back, rear hatch area (not too noticeable, but it is pulling away).
3. The only blemish on the exterior of the car is a ding on the driver's door. Please refer to the picture of it.
Other than that, the car runs great. The transmission shifts smoothly and everything works as it should. The AC still blows ice cold!!! If you're looking for a nice original Z Car that has been pampered its entire life, this is your car. The car has never, ever seen a winter. During the 18 years that I've owned the car, I can only recall one time the car ever saw rain. And for that I blame the weatherman on a bad forecast!
Should you have any questions, please feel free to call my cell at 585-314-2760. Thanks, Steve
Unfortunately, there are not too many of these cars left that are in this pristine condition. Hurry as the wife may change her mind!

Nissan IDx 'in the plan' for production, needs support from fans [w/poll]
Wed, 15 Jan 2014If there's a trend in the auto industry we can firmly get behind, it's the small, light and affordable rear-drive coupe. The positive critical reception to the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ twins has encouraged other manufacturers to look at building their own rear drivers, and even a few to show actual concept cars based on the idea. The Chevrolet Code 130R from 2012 and more recently, the Nissan IDx twins that were first shown at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show both come to mind, as does the brand-new Kia GT4 Stinger Concept.
Nissan trotted out the IDx Nismo and the IDx Freeflow for another showing in Detroit and we'll admit to being totally smitten with both cars. Again. The duo draw inspiration from the iconic Datsun 510, a lightweight, affordable rear-driver that remains a cult favorite decades after production ended.
Now, a report from our friends at AutoWeek reveals that we may, possibly, hopefully see a production IDx, provided fans make a strong enough case for it. "It's in the plan," Nissan product boss Andy Palmer told AW. According to the report, Palmer said the IDx is "into the first sage of the development process. The next stage is project validation and then looking at the business case. It's no one's intent to waste millions of the company's money, so obviously we have a good feeling about this one."
Datsun previews new budget sedan for Russia [w/video]
Thu, 13 Mar 2014Nobody does cars on the cheap quite like the Renault-Nissan Alliance. The former part of the equation already has its Dacia brand of cost-effective, no-frills vehicles that have become a favorite of Top Gear co-host James May, and last summer, the latter revived its Datsun nameplate for a budget brand of its own.
The reborn Datsun launched in India this past July with its Go hatchback, returned in September with the Go+ minivan and revealed the Redi-Go concept just last month. And now it's given us our first look at an upcoming budget sedan developed specifically for the Russian market.
The as-yet unnamed vehicle (which we'll bet will incorporate the word "go" into its nameplate somehow) is set to debut on April 4, where it will launch the Datsun brand in Russia. Few details are available at this point, but the low-cost sedan was designed in Japan to offer Russian drivers "an engaging driving experience, peace of mind ownership and accessibility at the right and transparent price, with a competitive Total Cost of Ownership."
Subaru Legacy pitted against Roadkill project cars
Fri, 05 Sep 2014There's an evergreen debate among auto enthusiasts about whether they would prefer to have the latest and greatest car of today or a certified classic from yesteryear. What if you had to further define that, though, and the choice was between a brand new 2015 Subaru Legacy or a turbocharged Datsun 240Z with a hatch that wouldn't close? Roadkill aimed to find out that and more in one of its best videos to date.
According to the hosts, Subaru came to them, handed over some money and challenged Roadkill's project cars against its latest Legacy. The result is every bit as good (or better) than any automotive-themed show you could find on television.
Things start simple with a figure-eight race in a rodeo arena with the Subaru taking on Roadkill's 1968 Ford Ranchero, originally built for ice racing. From there the Legacy races a 1968 Dodge Charger with no windows around and off-road rally stage. Finally, the Subie goes head-to-head against the Rotsun, the aforementioned turbocharged 240Z, through an abandoned neighborhood. Plus, there's a bonus drag race challenging them all.
