Kingston, Pennsylvania, United States
This is a very nice ORIGINAL (35100 mile) RUST FREE example of a 1980 10th Anniversary 280ZX. There were 3000 individually numbered Anniversary models.2500 were gold and black while only 500 were red and black.Any article that I have come across call these ULTRA-RARE AND VERY COLLECTIBLE! This is #529 of 3000 and is in exceptional condition. The original owner lived in Oregon and she owned the car until early 2006.In 2007 the car was shipped to PA. where it has been stored in a heated garage and driven to local car shows (The car has traveled 1000 miles in 7 years).
The exterior has all original paint and is in EXCELLENT CONDITION !There is NO RUST on the body or underneath( NO BUBBLES).All rubber gaskets (door, window) are in excellent condition. The bumpers have perfect chrome and the rubber/plastic are not faded. There is a two inch cut in the black rubber (corner) on the drivers side front bumper its hard to see but its there and is the only flaw! The interior is in excellent condition. The leather is nice and soft with no tears, cracks or fading. The carpets, dash and door panels are equally as nice! All gauges, power windows, wipers.cruise control, lights,AC work as they should (even the clock works). The radio works perfectly but the power antenna does not go up and down. The glass is all perfect including the T-tops.I have the shade protector and the carry cases for the T-tops (both in great condition). The engine and 5 speed transmission work flawlessly and is a pleasure to drive.Last week I replaced the original thermostat (it was like new). I also had the original clutch replaced by the family that owned the original Datsun/Nissan dealership in the Northeastern PA.I had Automobile City replace the clutch disc and pressure plate and release bearing. All hydraulic fluid and transmission fluid are new.The engine oil/filter is new as well.Invoice for all work will be included. Anniversary Model Features: Numbered,Commemorative dash plaque Two-tone paint (gold/black or red/black) Gold hood emblem &gold stripe on black hood.Commemorative wreath decals on lower front fenders and rear hatch Goodyear Wingfoot tires Headlight washers Black out exterior trim package Tinted windshield/T-bar roof Automatic temperature control I have the original window sticker along with a thank you letter from Datsun sent to all Anniversary Model owners (both are in perfect condition and laminated). All books with the original color sales brochure and two sets of keys/Datsun key chains and custom car cover are also included. This is truly a rare find! Thanks for looking. This father and son duo terrorize the UK countryside in Datsun 240Z pair
Wed, 12 Nov 2014The Datsun 240Z got a lot of things right when it was introduced, with handsome styling, strong performance and a reasonably affordable price. And while the coupes grew a strong fan base in the US, they remained quite a rarity in the UK. Decades later, a father and son in England have latched onto the car and bonded over their shared love for two completely opposite takes on this Japanese GT
There's already quite a collection of exotics in Mel Streek's garage, and his rat rod 240Z, which he calls the Ratsun, definitely doesn't fit with the rest. On the outside, the Datsun looks ready to fall apart, but it's mechanically perfect underneath. Alternatively, Mel's son, Ollie, has a completely different take for his Z with its perfect, shining paint.
Both Zs sound amazing, though. They have a mechanical, somewhat course exhaust note that's intoxicating to hear. You can definitely tell there's some work going on under the hood. Check out this video from Petrolicious for a father and son who both find something to love in these classic Japanese coupes.
Meet the man who took a year sabbatical to drive his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster
Tue, 28 Jan 2014A quiet drive in the country can be the most relaxing thing in the world. What if it didn't have to end, and you could keep driving for a week, a month or even a whole year? That's what Scott Fisher is doing by taking a one-year sabbatical from work and driving his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster around North America.
"I had owned a manufacturing business in Las Vegas for 16 years. I knew I needed to kinda' get out, and unwind, and get my mojo back," said Fisher.
Fisher's trip has covered over 30,000 miles through 44 states and 7 Canadian Provinces, and it is not over yet. He left from his home in Las Vegas, NV, last spring and drove to the Pacific. From there, he drove up the coast to the Canadian border and aimed the car for the Atlantic. He just posted on his blog about visiting the Nissan headquarters and museum in Franklin, TN, and his next stops are Mississippi and New Orleans, LA.
Nissan IDx Nismo and IDx Freeflow concepts are a bridge to the Datsun 510
Wed, 20 Nov 2013We're not sure if someone from The Adjustment Bureau stopped by Nissan's PR department to explain the IDx Nismo and IDx Freeflow concepts, but the company's odd press release can't diminish our love for these two show favorites. We had been told to look out for an unnamed Datsun 510 BRE homage, and once we saw the brothers IDx, we knew we'd found them. But the press release doesn't mention anything about the Datsun 510 Brock Racing Enterprises, nor does it mention one Mr. Peter Brock, the man who won two Trans-Am championships in the Seventies for the nascent Japanese budget brand.
Instead, it declares that the cars were the result of a co-creation product development process with "digital natives," said natives being the whippersnappers born after 1990. Nissan says it worked with the young'uns to create two different expressions of "their desire for a basic, authentic configuration for a car." If that's true, it appears that what the kiddies really want are... two different homages to the Datsun 510 BRE that Peter Brock used to win two championships in the seventies for the nascent Japanese brand.
The IDx Freeflow - the "ID" is for "identification," the "x" is "the variable representing the new values and dreams born through communication" - takes the casual approach, with a light khaki exterior hue, a minimalist interior decked out in denim and a console shifter that works a continuously variable transmission. The IDx Nismo is out for blood, from its crimson interior to its five-point harness to its bolt-on flares and sidepipes. We aren't told what the digital natives requested for powerplants, but that's alright; if this is what "co-creation" looks like, we're not entirely against it except where that "CVT" is involved.
