1978 Datsun 280z 32,000 Miles, 5-speed on 2040-cars
Reno, Nevada, United States
My mechanic just described this car as the cleanest 280Z in the country. I am the second owner and purchased it in 2008 thru Ebay motors. I am selling it as I am 74 years old and will not drive it as much as I should in the future. This Z has it all. The 5-speed transmission functions flawlessly as does the factory air-conditioning. The AM-FM radio works perfectly. The original interior's seats, door panels, dash( no cracks or splits), shift boot are in beautiful condition. The black carpet has some minor sun fading. It is a non-catalytic converter model. The Michelin tires have approximately 4,000 miles on them. The car includes the rear window louvers. The engine is in perfect condition. The engine compartment has the original cosmoline and undercoating and has not been steam cleaned. The car has no rust and has been garaged when not driven. This car has not been wrecked or had any body work done on it. The original paint is in beautiful condition and you will work hard to find a scratch on it. This is a smoke-free car. I have copies of all service work performed since it's original purchase. Since my purchase I have repaired the air-conditioning which now works perfectly. I had a small oil-leak on my garage floor from the engine and replaced the clutch slave cylinder, oil pan gasket, transmission output seal and rear main seal. The car has no oil leaks now and my garage floor is again spot free. I have also replaced the battery, fuel pump, and miscellaneous hoses. I will be glad to put an interested buyer in touch with my mechanic who was initially trained as a Datsun mechanic and has extensive Z knowledge. The car includes: original owners manual, service booklet, Datsun 280Z service manual 1978, Haynes and Clymer Shop Manuals, and original window sticker and some misc Z items. This has all the features you could want in a 280Z. No work or restoration is required, just get in it and drive. I would pick up the buyer at the airport. Check my seller ratings and you will see I have 100% feedback. I have built my reputation on a 100% honest description and work with any customer issues. I would co-operate with an out of state buyer with an independent inspection company of your choosing and expense. Purchase is in U.S. dollars cash in person or Paypal. The final cost does not include shipping or shipping preparation, taxes, title or registration as these costs are the sole responsibility of the buyer. I will provide a bill of sale and clear Nevada title. |

Meet the man who took a year sabbatical to drive his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster
Tue, 28 Jan 2014A quiet drive in the country can be the most relaxing thing in the world. What if it didn't have to end, and you could keep driving for a week, a month or even a whole year? That's what Scott Fisher is doing by taking a one-year sabbatical from work and driving his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster around North America.
"I had owned a manufacturing business in Las Vegas for 16 years. I knew I needed to kinda' get out, and unwind, and get my mojo back," said Fisher.
Fisher's trip has covered over 30,000 miles through 44 states and 7 Canadian Provinces, and it is not over yet. He left from his home in Las Vegas, NV, last spring and drove to the Pacific. From there, he drove up the coast to the Canadian border and aimed the car for the Atlantic. He just posted on his blog about visiting the Nissan headquarters and museum in Franklin, TN, and his next stops are Mississippi and New Orleans, LA.
Datsun previews new budget sedan for Russia [w/video]
Thu, 13 Mar 2014Nobody does cars on the cheap quite like the Renault-Nissan Alliance. The former part of the equation already has its Dacia brand of cost-effective, no-frills vehicles that have become a favorite of Top Gear co-host James May, and last summer, the latter revived its Datsun nameplate for a budget brand of its own.
The reborn Datsun launched in India this past July with its Go hatchback, returned in September with the Go+ minivan and revealed the Redi-Go concept just last month. And now it's given us our first look at an upcoming budget sedan developed specifically for the Russian market.
The as-yet unnamed vehicle (which we'll bet will incorporate the word "go" into its nameplate somehow) is set to debut on April 4, where it will launch the Datsun brand in Russia. Few details are available at this point, but the low-cost sedan was designed in Japan to offer Russian drivers "an engaging driving experience, peace of mind ownership and accessibility at the right and transparent price, with a competitive Total Cost of Ownership."
First new Datsun in decade sketched, set for Indian reveal
Mon, 01 Jul 2013Nissan's Datsun nameplate revival will begin with two models bound for the Indian market. Nissan has released sketches of a five-door hatchback based on the Micra (codenamed K2) and a top-down view of a hood that could potentially be from a sedan.
The company's press release says all will be revealed on July 15 in New Delhi, India. The Datsun lineup will be first offered in 2014 to that country's ride-deprived residents as well as Indonesia and Russia. Later in 2014, South Africa will join the list.
We've heard Nissan plans for Datsuns to share platforms with company-owned Lada. In January, we heard the projected price tag could be around $3,000 USD to compete with Chinese imports. The official press release (which can be read in full below) says nothing about either of these reports, however.
