1977 Datsun 280z Zap Edition Yellow Original 80k Miles Nissan Extra Set Decals on 2040-cars
United States
This is a rare original 1977 Datsun Special Edition 280Z with 80K of which around 1000 were produced. I am the third owner and have owned this car for seven years. The car was in the arid climate of Brownsville, Texas for 30 years and moved to Austin, TX 7 years ago.
Datsun called it the "ZZZap Z". Offered only in Bright Sunburst Yellow paint with special decal package, rear window shade and dual racing mirrors and side stripe decals. The Zap Z model was used as the pace car for the 1977 Long Beach Grand Prix. The ZZZap Z also received "Top", "Side" and "Deck" stripes, and I have an EXTRA SET OF DECALS/STRIPES (see Photo) to go with this car. I chose to keep the car as a "Survivor" with original paint (slight normal fade, please see photos) and decals, but with the extra decals you could make like brand new if you choose. The decals are from a set of 12 made a few years ago by an after market dealer. Car has a strong Engine that runs smooth with matching numbers and Automatic Transmission. The car passes Texas inspection every year without a problem. I have maintained the car as a survivor and have only done things that preserve it's original condition including over the last seven years: most of the work was performed by the renowned Z Clinic in Austin, TX. Valves adjusted/sparkplug wires/cap, R12 AC new compressor (Blows COLD) and muffler (2013) 4 like new Michelin Z-rated tires with low miles (2011) Minor Body work and paint where necessary to preserve including rear deck decal. Carpet Kit with original 280Z floor mats. New shocks and suspension rubber replaced where needed. Brake booster and master cylinder replaced, wheel cylinders rebuilt and new brake pads. Valves adjusted/sparkplug wires/cap. In addition: Had dual mirrors and Louver powdercoated in 2012 I have an EXTRA set of matching hubcaps I will include with the car. The car still has its original spare tire (never used) and jack with air can in back. Working AM/FM cassette (auto reverse) period radio with original speakers. Working Power Antenna EXTRA set of 280Z ZAP decals in excellent condition. This is an amazing hard to find collectible survivor 1977 280Z ZAP. Only a few have come to market in the last few years and only a couple with this low mileage and condition. It is a blast to drive in the city and on the highway. Everywhere I drive it, someone will come up and start a conversation about how cool it is. I am selling this car as is and representing it's condition as clearly as I can. I have made a video of the MY ACTUAL CAR over audio from a 1977 280Z commercial for you to see the car in action. Please cut and paste this link: http://youtu.be/MqVhIB3-dQg Please feel free to contact me with questions or if you need me to send you a link to the video. Buyer is responsible for picking up and shipping the car from Austin, Texas. On Oct-04-13 at 11:13:21 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention, I have the 1977 280z Service Manual on CD ROM I will include. I also had all of the belts replaced last year. From Internet Z CAR CLUB: THE Z CARS:

Meet the man who took a year sabbatical to drive his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster
Tue, 28 Jan 2014A quiet drive in the country can be the most relaxing thing in the world. What if it didn't have to end, and you could keep driving for a week, a month or even a whole year? That's what Scott Fisher is doing by taking a one-year sabbatical from work and driving his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster around North America.
"I had owned a manufacturing business in Las Vegas for 16 years. I knew I needed to kinda' get out, and unwind, and get my mojo back," said Fisher.
Fisher's trip has covered over 30,000 miles through 44 states and 7 Canadian Provinces, and it is not over yet. He left from his home in Las Vegas, NV, last spring and drove to the Pacific. From there, he drove up the coast to the Canadian border and aimed the car for the Atlantic. He just posted on his blog about visiting the Nissan headquarters and museum in Franklin, TN, and his next stops are Mississippi and New Orleans, LA.
Subaru Legacy pitted against Roadkill project cars
Fri, 05 Sep 2014There's an evergreen debate among auto enthusiasts about whether they would prefer to have the latest and greatest car of today or a certified classic from yesteryear. What if you had to further define that, though, and the choice was between a brand new 2015 Subaru Legacy or a turbocharged Datsun 240Z with a hatch that wouldn't close? Roadkill aimed to find out that and more in one of its best videos to date.
According to the hosts, Subaru came to them, handed over some money and challenged Roadkill's project cars against its latest Legacy. The result is every bit as good (or better) than any automotive-themed show you could find on television.
Things start simple with a figure-eight race in a rodeo arena with the Subaru taking on Roadkill's 1968 Ford Ranchero, originally built for ice racing. From there the Legacy races a 1968 Dodge Charger with no windows around and off-road rally stage. Finally, the Subie goes head-to-head against the Rotsun, the aforementioned turbocharged 240Z, through an abandoned neighborhood. Plus, there's a bonus drag race challenging them all.
Datsun expands low-cost revival with new Mi-Do in Moscow [w/video]
Fri, 29 Aug 2014Those who were disappointed when Datsun changed its name to Nissan over three decades ago may have been pleased to see the marque revived last year, even as a budget brand. Nissan's counterpart to its ally Renault's Dacia budget brand, Datsun has been steadily expanding its lineup of low-cost transportation for developing markets with the debut of the Go hatchback in India, the Go+ minivan in Indonesia and the On-Do sedan in Russia. And now it has returned to Moscow to reveal its fourth model, the Mi-Do.
Based closely on the On-Do sedan (which itself is based on the Lada Granta) the Mi-Do takes on a five-door hatchback bodystyle but with no more frills. It uses the same front-drive chassis with the same wheelbase as the sedan, but its chopped tail makes it a good foot and a half shorter overall. Into that compact shape, Datsun has fitted dual airbags, ABS and... well, that's about it. It's got a 1.6-liter, eight-valve inline-four kicking out a grand total of 87 horsepower to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. Bare bones, this is.
While delivery of the first On-Do sedans commences next month (with the first example going to an IT specialist in Omsk), the Mi-Do is set to begin delivery early next year. Scope out the video and press release below from the Mi-Do's reveal at the Moscow Motor Show.
