The Good: Runs, stops, floors and front frame rails replaced with Bad Dog parts ($2k job), brand new tires ($600), original motor and trans, comes with 280z motor and 5 speed extra, have black vinyl and carpet in boxes, dual Webers, will go 120 MPH down the highway, is not currently suffering from any sort of major rust problems!
The Work needed: Has ugly sunroof that leaks a little, interior was gutted so I could fix the floors and frame rails, front carb leaks a little fuel (I would get some rebuilt SU's), gas tank filler tube leaks if you fill the tank all the way, cheaper paint job over original brown in the early 1990's, side moulding removed and now has holes that need to be filled, body panels could stand to be adjust for gaps and smoothed out by a body guy, header gasket needs to be replaced, small hole about 1 foot from exhaust tip, interior needs to be thrown back together, some of the door moldings have been removed and will have to be replaced in order to drive in the rain. My best friends brother owned this car in the early 1980's, my best friend owned it through the 1990's when we were in high school. I bought from him in 2010 because he has a family and didn't drive it. It is originally a Maine car and I have the original owner's book with the purchaser's name in it. I also have the paperwork from repairs that were made. Nothing too amazing there. Dash reads 68K miles and I believe that to be true. You can only drive this car for 5 or so months of the year in Maine. But the title is exempt because some repair papers stated that the mileage was higher. Either way the car runs and drives fine (needs a carb tune badly). Bottom line, good car that needs someone who know cars to make really great. Hit me up with questions and I will answer them. |

Roadkill pits every project car against each other
Sat, 22 Feb 2014The guys behind Motor Trend's monthly Roadkill series have collected nine of their favorite project cars from their videos and pitted them against each other in a battle royale to determine a winner. It's 44 minutes long, but it's completely worth the investment of time.
The cars run the gamut from a 1973 Chevrolet Ramp Truck, a 1975 AMC Pacer and a legitimately impressive 1967 Chevy Camaro, and they are pitted against each other to see which is the fastest around an autocross course. The drivers include Roadkill's two hosts and Motor Trend's Johnny Lieberman and Carlos Lago. It's reminiscent of the best episodes of Top Gear and worth a watch.
So it's the weekend - the perfect time to relax. Grab your preferred beverage, get comfortable and enjoy 44 minutes of some seriously ratty but utterly cool project cars as they are throttled within an inch of their lives (or past it). Scroll down to check out the video.
First new Datsun in decade sketched, set for Indian reveal
Mon, 01 Jul 2013Nissan's Datsun nameplate revival will begin with two models bound for the Indian market. Nissan has released sketches of a five-door hatchback based on the Micra (codenamed K2) and a top-down view of a hood that could potentially be from a sedan.
The company's press release says all will be revealed on July 15 in New Delhi, India. The Datsun lineup will be first offered in 2014 to that country's ride-deprived residents as well as Indonesia and Russia. Later in 2014, South Africa will join the list.
We've heard Nissan plans for Datsuns to share platforms with company-owned Lada. In January, we heard the projected price tag could be around $3,000 USD to compete with Chinese imports. The official press release (which can be read in full below) says nothing about either of these reports, however.
Malaise Era All-Stars
Fri, 17 May 2013A few weeks ago, we bid a fond happy 40th anniversary to the automotive dark ages of 1973-84 that have come to be known as "The Malaise Era" - the performance ice-age when 160 horsepower was a lot and a 0-60 time of under 10 seconds was remarkable. Like music in the 1980s, everything in automobiledom didn't suck, however. There were a few bright spots. Here are five of our favorites:
