I will start with the bad new. I bought this car in Alabama, which is a non title state for a car this old. I have the bill of sale, but was not able to get a title in the state of Alabama. A title can be procured, in another state but there are a lot of hoops that need to be jumped through depending on the state you live in. If you live in a non title state, you can register it with just a bill of sale.

I bought the car about 6 years ago, and the body was in excellent shape. I had it painted, and had plans to restore it. Shortly after having it painted I was stationed overseas, and I kept the car in a storage garage ever since. I am now stationed at Holloman AFB, and have been doing some work to get it back up and running. The car starts, and drives, but is in need of a pretty good tune up. The carb is freshly rebuilt. It has a new fuel pump, battery, starter, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and various other parts under the hood. The original carbs have been replaced by a holley 4-barell by one of the previous owners. I have stock carbs available for purchase as well. I have side turn signal lights that I purchased, and they just need to be installed. I am also including new black carpet, and black door panels. Both of which cost me at least $200. I have dumped a lot of money into this car, but my family situation isn't the same as it was before I decided to take a tour in Japan. My wife would be much happier if I wasn't throwing all our money into a car.

As you can see by the pictures, the paint is pretty nice, but is not the best. It is in need of a good wet sanding and some touchup. The interior is pretty bare, but I am including the seats, carpet, and door panels. You shouldnt need much more that that. The dash is cracked all to hell and back, just like most other datsuns this age. This car would make a perfect project. It really only needs a tune up, and some bolt on parts. Feel free to contact me with any questions about the car. I have various other parts, such as a turnkey L26 motor, and a 5 speed tranny from a 280ZX that I am willing to sell seperately

I am also selling the car locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. I can deliver anywhere within 600 miles at the rate of $.75 /mile. Any distance greater than that, please be prepared to pick it up yourself, or hire a private shipper.

I require a non-refundable deposit via paypal of $500 within 24 hours of the auctions end. I will require the rest of the money either via paypal or cash at the time of pickup/delivery.

37K miles in a 1967 Datsun Roadster

Tue, 11 Mar 2014

When we think of comfy, long-distance road cars, there are a few obvious choices. A Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Bentley Continental GT or, assuming fuel efficiency isn't paramount, a Range Rover are all good options for a road trip. But what if that road trip was 37,000 miles? Maybe something more reliable but still comfortable, then, like a Honda Accord. What about a 1967 Datsun Roadster?
As insane as it sounds, Scott Fisher is doing just that, running a Datsun 1600 Roadster across North America and racking up 13,500 miles in his first three months on the road. His total journey will see him pile over 37,000 miles on his red convertible. The car is lightly modified, but most of the work is for the sake of reliability and comfort, with a five-speed manual 'box, an upgraded radiator and electronic ignition.
Fisher's trip hasn't been all smooth, with a few typical bits of trouble. He also ran into some deer in Utah, quite literally, clipping one of the animals, which delivered quite a bit of damage to the passenger's front fender (hence the rear three-quarter view in our lead shot). Still, the car seems to be holding up well, as shown in this latest video from Petrolicious.

Meet the man who took a year sabbatical to drive his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster

Tue, 28 Jan 2014

A quiet drive in the country can be the most relaxing thing in the world. What if it didn't have to end, and you could keep driving for a week, a month or even a whole year? That's what Scott Fisher is doing by taking a one-year sabbatical from work and driving his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster around North America.
"I had owned a manufacturing business in Las Vegas for 16 years. I knew I needed to kinda' get out, and unwind, and get my mojo back," said Fisher.
Fisher's trip has covered over 30,000 miles through 44 states and 7 Canadian Provinces, and it is not over yet. He left from his home in Las Vegas, NV, last spring and drove to the Pacific. From there, he drove up the coast to the Canadian border and aimed the car for the Atlantic. He just posted on his blog about visiting the Nissan headquarters and museum in Franklin, TN, and his next stops are Mississippi and New Orleans, LA.

Nissan IDx 'in the plan' for production, needs support from fans [w/poll]

Wed, 15 Jan 2014

If there's a trend in the auto industry we can firmly get behind, it's the small, light and affordable rear-drive coupe. The positive critical reception to the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ twins has encouraged other manufacturers to look at building their own rear drivers, and even a few to show actual concept cars based on the idea. The Chevrolet Code 130R from 2012 and more recently, the Nissan IDx twins that were first shown at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show both come to mind, as does the brand-new Kia GT4 Stinger Concept.
Nissan trotted out the IDx Nismo and the IDx Freeflow for another showing in Detroit and we'll admit to being totally smitten with both cars. Again. The duo draw inspiration from the iconic Datsun 510, a lightweight, affordable rear-driver that remains a cult favorite decades after production ended.
Now, a report from our friends at AutoWeek reveals that we may, possibly, hopefully see a production IDx, provided fans make a strong enough case for it. "It's in the plan," Nissan product boss Andy Palmer told AW. According to the report, Palmer said the IDx is "into the first sage of the development process. The next stage is project validation and then looking at the business case. It's no one's intent to waste millions of the company's money, so obviously we have a good feeling about this one."
