   1985 CHRYSLER WOODIE CONVERTIBLE
          TOWN AND COUNTRY TURBO

      The Wade Williams Collection
I am selling my 40 year classic and special
interest car collection, from Corvettes to
Chryslers.

This offering is a 1985 Chrysler Turbo
Town and Country Woodie Convertible with a special
feature. It belonged to a jet plane mechanic at the
old TWA overhaul base here in Kansas City. Mark rebuilt
the turbo and transmission making it more powerful than
the stock vehicle from Chrysler. It's excellent on gas
and also is fast.

I added the car to my collection on January 8, 2003
and it has been stored inside since and driven from
time to time. The gas tank has been cleaned and coated and the
 fuel lines replaced..

I added a "Continental kit" on the rear of the car which
harks back to the 40's sporty style. . It is a beautiful addition and
makes the car longer in the rear. The classic  louvered hood rams more air
into the turbo and gives it a racier look. The white convertible top and
boot are in excellent condition. The white exterior color was the most popular. It has chrome
wire hubcaps . This car is unique and you will not see one unless you see them in the movies
(Planes-Train & Automobiles) or TV ( Seinfeld ) or happen to live down the street.

The leather seats are not torn. They could use a good cleaning or
a leather spray coating which would make them look new. The carpets are fine. I believe all the
accessories work but am not positive. The AC may need a charge. In any event the cars is drives well
and turn heads whever it goes. It's great on gas

In the four years Chrysler made these Town and Country woodie convertibles
a little over 3000 were made. Few remain. They fell victim to the newer J-bodied
GTC  convertibles with 6 cylinder engines. These unique and rare K-bodied convertibles
are becoming highly collectible and are still within a reasonable price range. They will
double and triple in value in a few years. Definately a classic already and a fun car .
As an investment this is the time to buy one. It is a buyer's market. Buy it for Xmas,
enjoy it in the spring.
There is a low reserve on this car. I want to sell it. It will sell at a bargain to a
lucky buyer. This one is much less than others recently advertised and is more desirable than
a 1983 model.
The winning bidder must make a non-refundable $ 500.00 deposit via Pay Pal within 49 hours
of winning. The balance must be paid withing seven (7) days of the close of the auction either by
cash or bank wire prior to picking up the car. Buyer must arrange to pick up the car in Kansas City.

All sales final. Car sold "as-is" with no warranty or
guarantee of any kind.

The car can be inspected in Kansas City prior to the final
bid by contacting the seller. One the car is sold it belongs
to the highest bidder . It is not sold "on approval" and cannot
be returned. Buyer must arrange shipping from Kansas City.

This car is a bargain, a classic and well worth considering.

Harsh words from senators over Chrysler's delay in reporting hack

Fri, Jul 24 2015

The federal agency charged with protecting American motorists wants to know more about how hackers remotely commandeered and controlled a Jeep Cherokee. Hours after Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recalled 1.4 million cars affected by a flaw in their cellular connections, officials with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Friday they'll further probe the defect by conducting a formal recall query investigation. "Opening this investigation will allow NHTSA to better assess the effectiveness of the remedy proposed," the agency said in a written statement. The remedy works, said Chris Valasek, one of the researchers who first discovered the security flaw. After testing for the vulnerability again Friday, he wrote on Twitter: "Looks like I can't get to @0xcharlie's Jeep from my house via my phone. Good job FCA/Sprint!" From his Pittsburgh home, Valasek had previously accessed and controlled co-worker Charlie Miller's Jeep along a St. Louis highway. Researchers have demonstrated remote hacks before, but the scope and severity of the Jeep vulnerability was unprecedented. The recall for a cyber threat was the first of its kind. Although a software patch and changes made by cellular provider Sprint appeared to fix the problem, news of the exploit and Chrysler's response brought a fresh round of consternation on Capitol Hill, where federal lawmakers had already expressed concerns about automotive cyber security. The Jeep hack elevated their concerns to a new level. "Cyber threats in cars are real and urgent, no figment of the imagination, as this huge recall demonstrates," said Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT). "Incredibly, Chrysler delayed disclosing this chilling cyber-security danger egregiously and inexcusably, and strong sanctions are appropriate to send a message that other auto manufacturers will heed." Chrysler had known about the security gap since October, and Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) wondered why it took the company so long to let customers know they were at risk. "Despite knowing about this security gap for nearly nine months, Chrysler is only now recalling 1.4 million vehicles to fix this vulnerability," he said. That's a potential pitfall for Chrysler, and something NHTSA will likely address in its investigation. Automakers are supposed to report safety-related defects to the agency within five days of discovery. But according to a chronology of events Chrysler submitted in its recall paperwork, it didn't inform NHTSA until July 15.

2017 Chrysler Pacifica will start at $29,590

Fri, Mar 11 2016

Early reports suggested the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica would be more expensive than the outgoing model, but that's not entirely the case. The new minivan's base LX trim starts at $29,590 (after $995 destination) versus $30,990 for the 2016 Town & Country. The latest vehicle's prices are also in line with its competitors. All Pacificas have amenities like Active Noise Cancellation and the model's famous Stow 'n Go seats. For $31,490, customers can upgrade to the Touring trim to get SiriusXM satellite radio, power sliding doors, and automatic headlights. The Touring-L adds a little more luxury for $35,490 with features like rear parking assist, blind spot monitoring, and leather seats, which are heated for the front row. The Touring-L Plus at $38,80 includes even more useful items like a seven-inch driver display, 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system, heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, and an upgraded stereo. The top of the Pacifica range is the Limited trim for $43,490, which piles on even more luxuries to haul the family around in style. The amenities include Nappa leather, ventilated front seats, an integrated vacuum, 3D navigation, HID headlights, LED foglights, panoramic sunroof, and hands-free doors and liftgate. It seems perfect for a road trip. Compared to the competition, the Pacifica has good fuel economy and similar pricing (all of which include destination). For example, the 2016 Honda Odyssey starts at $30,300 and can go up to $45,775 for the top Touring Elite model. The situation is similar with the Toyota Sienna, which ranges between $29,750 and $46,170 for the most expensive two-wheel drive version. The rapidly aging Nissan Quest starts out cheaper at $27,480 but tops out at $44,130. However, the Kia Sedona is significantly cheaper than the Pacifica, starting at $27,295 and going to $40,795 for the highest trim. The only potential downside to the Pacifica's pricing is FCA's discontinuation of the Dodge Grand Caravan. The model started at just $23,090 and topped out at $31,990, which gave the automaker a range of less expensive trims to lure price conscious customers. The company has lost that market advantage. We look forward to spending more time with the 2017 Pacifica when it arrives at dealers this spring. The Hybrid joins the lineup in the second half of the year.

Fiat Chrysler, Peugeot announce merger as world's No. 4 carmaker

Thu, Oct 31 2019

MILAN  — Fiat Chrysler and France's PSA Peugeot said Thursday they have agreed to merge to create the world's fourth-largest automaker with enough scale to confront big shifts in the industry, including a race to develop electric cars and driverless technologies. Italian-American Fiat Chrysler brings with it a strong footprint in North America, where it makes at least two-thirds of its profits, while Peugeot is the No. 2 automaker in Europe. Both lag in China, however, despite the participation of Peugeot's Chinese shareholder, Dongfeng, and are playing catching up in developing electric vehicles. Fiat Chrysler shares were trading up 9% at 14 euros in Milan, while PSA Peugeot shares were down 3.2% to 22.84 euros. The 50-50 merger is expected to offer savings of 3.7 billion euros ($4 billion), which the automakers expect to achieve without any factory closures — a concern of unions in both France and Italy where the carmakers have more overlap. Fiat Chrysler's strongest brands are Jeep SUVs and Ram trucks and it is focusing on relaunching its premium and luxury brands, Alfa Romeo and Maserati, with a focus on hybrid engines. It still makes smaller cars under the Fiat marquee, mostly for the European and Latin American markets. PSA Peugeot makes mostly small, city-friendly cars, family sedans and SUVs under the nameplates of Peugeot, Citroen and Germany-based Opel, which it bought in 2017. That is where the companies can expect to have the most overlap. The new company would be worth $50 billion, with revenue of 170 billion euros ($189 billion). It would produce 8.7 million cars a year — still behind Toyota, Volkswagen and the Renault-Nissan alliance, which make over 10 million each. Once a merger is finalized, PSA Peugeot CEO Carlos Tavares will be chief executive of the new company, with Fiat Chrysler Chairman John Elkann becoming chairman. Fiat Chrysler CEO Mike Manley will have a senior executive role. "This convergence brings significant value to all the stakeholders and opens a bright future for the combined entity," Tavares said in a statement. Manley called it "an industry-changing combination," and noted the long history of cooperation with Peugeot in industrial vehicles in Europe. The 11-member board will be made up of five members from each company plus Tavares, who is locked in as CEO for five years.
