[ Paint ] – The paint certainly looks like it could be original (or mostly original) except for 6-8” the owner repainted below the lower double molding. The paint has a very nice shine to it, and seems to match well all the way around. It has a light amount of orange peel, but this is how they were built in those days. Under fluorescent lights, you can see a slight amount of wear, but it could buff up if polished. For its age, it shows extremely well.

We performed random paint depth checks around the car, and found there is about 4-8 mils of paint (4 on a few of the upper panels). The rest is fairly consistent all the way around. If this Chrysler had been repainted, the readings would most likely have been much higher than that.

When we look at the nicks on the car, it is another reason we believe the paint is so original. You can see it is not perfect. For example, the upper surfaces have quite a few nicks. The hood has probably half a dozen to a dozen little nicks across the front, and a couple on other areas of the hood. On the trunk, there are a few chips along the back (between the tail light areas) as well as a chipped area that looks like it came from uninstalling an old fashioned CB antenna.

The right skirt has a little bit of flaking, and there are multiple light chips on the passenger door. There are also a few nicks on the driver’s door. This is the majority of the nicks we saw – but there may be others here and there. There is a scratch on the lower front fender at the bottom of the right front tire. There may be more light scratches, but they should buff out. See all photos.

[ Body ] – All of the upper surfaces (hood and trunk areas) seem very straight. The driver and passenger doors do not have body side moldings to protect them… so when you look down the sides, you can see half a dozen small dimples on each of the doors. There are also 3-4 on the front part of the rear quarters. You may be able to remove (and straighten) these with the paintless dent removal system. Chad took some photos at different angles, so be sure to check out the pictures.

The fits on the doors, hood, and trunk appear uniform, and much as you would have expected in those days. After going over the car with a magnetic gauge, we could verify that there were repairs performed below the accent molding on both sides (in front of the fender skirts), as well as the back, bottom section of the left quarter (below the moldings).

[ Chrome/Bright Work ] – The chrome and bright work that surrounds the window areas and convertible top all looks secure. We did not see any obvious loose or ill fitting items. It looks free of dents and damage, and actually looks like that of a couple year old car (including the unique piece that runs around the convertible top, right above the window). The only exception is at the back of the rear side windows. There is a small 2” section with a slight amount of pitting –it is the same on both sides.

The 3 trim strips that run down the left side of the car look free of damage except for some little dimples on the top and middle pieces near the back. On the right side, there is a dimple in the middle strip in the door and one on the rear quarter.

The front and rear bumpers seem free of damage but have lost a fair amount of their reflective properties. They look nice but the chrome is starting to look aged.

[ Glass ] – All of the glass is in impeccable condition. All 6 side panes still faintly show the Chrysler logo, except for the driver’s vent window. The windshield is a Solex. The remarkable condition also gives credibility to the car’s originality. Usually, when a car is repainted, there are often marks made in the glass (by mistake). This glass is in unbelievably nice condition.

There is a bulls-eye about 8” up from the middle of the windshield. But the rest is free of cracks, wiper marks, scratches (even on the side windows!), etc. The rear plastic looks nice

its aging, and starting to yellow. (see photos)

[ Convertible Top ] – The seller tells us he thinks the top may or may not be original…he is not 100% sure. A good cleaning would brighten it up. It seems pliable, and the vinyl does not seem terribly aged or brittle. The stitching is holding together well. We did not see any wear spots except for an area on the right side where the beading continues into the body.

The frame work looks very nice and the paint is in excellent condition. The headliner is very clean and free of obvious wear.

[ Interior ] – The current owner believes that other than the floor mats, the interior is all original (or “original replacement”). He does not have any knowledge of repaired or replaced items.

Everything seems to be pretty supple, have good coloring, etc. but there is enough wear on the seats & arm rests, and enough fading of the carpet that it could most likely be original. Look carefully at the photos to get a good feel of how nice the interior is. The plastic chrome is wearing off the door panels. The dash, switches, and gauges show very little wear and look really nice.

[ Trunk ] – The seams and trunk floor look nice and solid, from what we can see. A cut-to-fit mat was installed, as well as a spare tire and jack assembly. The seller said the jack may have rattled a bit, so there are rags wrapped around it. There is a Goodyear tire mounted as a spare (H78 – 14), but the owner does not know if it is correct for the car. Also, there is a 1” spot at the left rear corner where some minor rust perforation is starting.

[ Tires and Wheels ] – All 4 tires are Firestone Supremes, mounted on Keystone wheels. They are size P205 – 75 – 15. The tires have about 8/32 of tread left (except for the left rear – it has about 7/32). We did not notice any cracking or damage to the tires or wheels, but the left rear tire has some rubbing on the outside which has caused a little wear along the edge. We can only see half of the back wheels, but there are spinners on the front. They are older wheels but the finish looks nice, without any noticeable damage.

There are also the standard hub caps and wheels that go with the car, as well as 4 Supreme 70 steel belted radials (size 225 – 70 – R14). They have maybe 1/3 of tread life left.

[ Engine and Transmission ] – Under the hood, everything looks very original, much as it was designed. There are no noticeable changes or alterations, other than an updated battery (and battery disconnect) and a replacement power steering hose (installed by the current owner). We also see a new distributor cap and wires.

The owner disconnected the heater core, as it was leaking – but, he has not had it corrected yet.

Underneath the front edge of the hood, there is a little bit of surface rust starting by the locking mechanism. You can hardly see it. The owner tells us that a “Chrysler guru” told him that the little “X” on the left side, above the headlights, is one of the typical markings used on this car when it was built at the factory, we consider this more proof this is a mostly untouched original!

Chad took photos down in the radiator support area, and he did not detect any rust perforation there

[ Chassis ] – This Chrysler is not a full frame car, but a unibody. You can see all of the undercoating applied underneath, which is probably what has kept it in such good condition all these years.

On the underside, we did not see any obvious signs of rust perforation in the floor or supporting areas. There are a few places where the rust proofing has not held up 100%, and in those cases we see a few flakes of surface rust.

The owner tells us he had repairs done on some rust in front of rear tires. See photos. When we look at the lower sides, we also pick up some rust repair a few inches below the left rear quarter in the back. If anything else was worked on, it was very little.

The bottom side looks recently greased. There is some light dampness at the bottom of the transmission housing but nothing out of the ordinary. The owner had an exhaust system installed a few years ago (complete duals all the way from front to back). You can see the sensor on the drive shaft from the after-market cruise control, in the photos. The car also has rear air shocks. It is fortunate that this car was so well coated when it was new (or fairly new), as it really helped preserve the body.

[ Mechanical ] – Chad tested the following items and they were working at the time of the listing: ? All 4 cranking windows and vent windows operate smoothly ? Tail lights ? Headlights (low and high beam) ? Brake lights ? Turn signals left front and rear, and right front and rear ? Horn (sounds good) ? Inside light for high beams and parking light light up properly ? Emergency brake holds well ? Cruise control does operate ? Windshield wipers on high and low ? Dash lights ? Power top mechanism, works smoothly and quickly. Doesn’t seem to have much wear on it ? Pull lever for left and right vents, work smoothly and appear to work ? Fan motor (all 3 speeds) ? AM radio ? Map light ? Cigarette lighter

The windshield washers do not have any fluid so we could not test them. The heater core leaked and was bypassed.

When Chad tested any of the controls, everything felt amazingly solid – like a couple year old car (including cranking the windows). When you sit in the seats and look at the dash, it looks like a new car...it is unbelievably nice.

[ Test Drive ]: Chad took a test drive with the owner, and then drove it himself for 6-8 miles. When you start it, there are no foreign engine sounds. It fires right up, then settles down into a smooth, impressive operation. It is solid and quiet as you drive down the road (even though it is a convertible), and the steering, brakes, transmission, and drive train work flawlessly, as designed. This Chrysler accelerates smoothly and quietly. It takes right off, and cruises effortlessly. We did not feel any pulling left or right upon applying the brakes. The alternator gauge shows a slight charge...and when you give it gas the charge increases slightly.

Note: the original window sticker and Certicard are included in the sale. The Certicard has the vin number for the car, and was for dealer use only. It was given to the new owner when the car was originally purchased and was meant to keep with the car.

The seller also has the license plate frame that came from the dealer when the car was sold new. You can see on the window sticker that the vin and equipment matches everything on the car, and that it was purchased at Don Joseph’s in Kent, Ohio.

The vehicles they sell are from private owners and collectors, and they provide advertising, marketing, and consulting services for individuals, companies, or dealers.

The Auto Connection representative has physically viewed the item being sold. The information comes from the seller and other research sources. Auto Connection is not responsible for any misrepresentation by the seller and/or errors in research results, including history statements of vehicle history, repairs, etc.

This vehicle is being sold AS IS and without a warranty, unless otherwise stated.

Information about serial numbers, engine numbers, and any other codes does not guarantee a vehicle’s authenticity. These codes and numbers are not guaranteed to be the same as the information on the vehicle ID or vin, trim tag, engine block, cylinder heads, transmission, differential, or other components within this vehicle. Auto Connection does not guarantee documentation, authenticity, repairs, mechanical work, titles, odometer discrepancies, matching numbers, stamped engines, casting numbers, or any other codes, tags, or numbers. The potential for reproduction paper documentation exists, as well as restamped engines and reproduced trim/data tags.

Auto Connection has described this vehicle to the best of their knowledge, but does not guarantee the accuracy of the description. Prospective buyers are encouraged to conduct their own due diligence, including a physical inspection of the vehicle in person, or through a qualified third party inspector/appraiser. We welcome inspections and even have an 8 page professional vehicle inspection form you or your appraiser can use.

The vehicle will remain for sale until a buyer has placed a deposit on it. This deposit is nonrefundable with the exception of the vehicle being severely misrepresented by Auto Connection or the seller, or stipulated in the Bill of Sale.

It is possible that this vehicle will be sold at a higher price than the highest bid (before or after the auction ends), if the reserve is not met. After the sale (if reserve is met or not), Auto Connection must receive at least a 10% deposit (wire transfer or official bank or cashier’s check) within 3 days of the end of the auction (or the Bill of Sale is signed). The high bidder/buyer has 10 days from this time to send the balance in full or final payment and inspect the vehicle (or have a 3rd party professional inspection).

For the most part, the vehicle for sale is not “perfect”. It is unreasonable to assume that every single flaw in the paint, body, engine, etc. or any minor mechanical items (such as a light not working) be considered a reason to refuse the vehicle. Major rust/rot, undisclosed problems with the frame, etc. might constitute a legitimate reason for the buyer to refuse to follow through with the sale. In that situation, Auto Connection would negotiate with the seller and buyer to try to reach an agreeable solution.

The buyer acknowledges that he has had the opportunity to inspect the vehicle to verify it is as listed and represented. He accepts the vehicle with all advertised equipment, options and accessories in "AS IS" condition with any faults or defects. The buyer will bear all future costs of repairs or correcting any defects that exist or may occur in the future. The seller will have no responsibility or liability for any consequential damages or injury caused by any failure or malfunction of the vehicle or any components. Chrysler's completely redesigned 200 caught totally uncovered

Fri, 13 Dec 2013

Preparing for a big debut at the Detroit Auto Show next month, the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 was out for a late-night photo shoot fully undisguised, and our spy shooters were there to capture its all-new design completely uncovered. While there's no camouflage, the cover of darkness proved to be almost as effective, but we still get a good idea of what this former sore spot in the brand's lineup will look like after its clean-sheet redesign.
The first thing we notice is the stylish four-door-coupe roofline doing its best to impersonate something like the Audi A7, or maybe the Volkswagen CC. The front-end styling is a departure from recent Chrysler designs with narrow headlights and an equally short, chrome-trimmed grille. In profile, the bullet-nosed 200 is somewhat reminiscent of the Tesla Model S. This new design language should definitely help the 200 get noticed in a segment filled with hot sellers like the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, as well as more stylish offerings like the Ford Fusion and Mazda6.
Our spies also caught up with the 200 testing in daylight and got some good shots of the interior. The instrument panel design looks similar to what is found in the Dodge Dart, including the oversized instrument gauges and possibly even the LED accent lighting. We would have to assume - and hope - this prototype is a test model due to its small touchscreen display, as Chrysler's 8.4-inch screen would look much better in its place. The center stack and console are clean with minimal buttons and knobs, but we do see a rotary gear selector, which may confirm reports from last year that suggested the 200 will use a nine-speed automatic transmission to help hit 38 miles per gallon on the highway.

Chrysler Recalls 350K Vehicles To Fix Ignition Switches

Thu, Sep 25 2014

Chrysler is recalling nearly 350,000 cars and SUVs to fix ignition switches that could unexpectedly shut off the engines. The recall covers 2008 Jeep Commander and Grand Cherokee SUVs, Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger sedans, and Dodge Magnum wagons. All were built before May 12, 2008. Chrysler says the ignitions may not fully return to the "on" position after being started. The switches could move to "accessory" or "off." That could shut off the engine and knock out power-assisted steering and other features. Chrysler knows of one crash and no injuries from the problem. It's telling people to use the key alone in the ignition and confirm that switches have returned to "on" after starting their cars. Chrysler is investigating the cause. Customers will be notified when repairs are ready. Related Gallery The Trucks And SUVs Consumers Are Liking Most View 11 Photos

Macron and Le Pen decry 'shocking' Stellantis CEO pay

Mon, Apr 18 2022

PARIS — French President Emmanuel Macron and his far-right challenger in the French presidential vote, Marine Le Pen, on Friday both decried as “shocking” the multimillion euro payout to the CEO of carmaker Stellantis. Stellantis CEO Carlos TavaresÂ’ remuneration package of 19.15 million euros just a year after the company was formed became an issue as Macron and Le Pen campaigned ahead of the April 24 runoff vote. Polls show purchasing power and inflation are a top voter concern. Stellantis was formed last year through the merger of PSA Peugeot and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. Centrist President Emmanuel Macron, perceived by many voters as being too pro-business, called the pay package “astronomical” and pushed for a Europe-wide effort to set ceilings on “abusive” executive pay. “ItÂ’s shocking, itÂ’s excessive,” he said Friday on broadcaster France-Info. “People canÂ’t have problems with purchasing power, difficulties, the anguish theyÂ’re living with, and see these sums. Otherwise, society will explode.” Far-right leader Marine Le Pen, who enjoys support from many working-class voters, called for bringing in more workers as shareholders. “Of course itÂ’s shocking, and itÂ’s even more shocking when it is the CEOs who have pushed their society into difficulty,” she said Friday on BFM television. “One of the ways to diminish this pay, which is often out of proportion with economic life, is perhaps to allow workers in as shareholders.” Stellantis continued to back the package despite a 52.1% to 47.9% vote rejecting it at an annual shareholders' meeting chaired from the Netherlands, where the company is legally based, on Wednesday. The company, citing Dutch civil code, noted that the vote is advisory and not binding. The company later said in a statement that it took note of the vote, and will explain in an upcoming 2022 remuneration report “how this vote has been taken into account.” In the 2021 report, the company identified peer group companies that it used as a salary benchmark, including U.S. companies like Boeing, Exxon Mobile, General Electric as well as carmakers Ford and General Motors. Stellantis, whose brands include Peugeot, Fiat, Jeep, Opel and Maserati, reported net profits last year had tripled to 13.4 billion euros ($15.2 billion). The French government is the third-largest shareholder in Stellantis, with a 6.15% stake through the Bpifrance Participations S.A. French public investment bank.
