You are viewing my 1972 Chrysler Newport Royale with a 400 cu in V8 motor and brand-new magnum wheels on BF Goodrich TA radial tires. As you can see from the photos, it is a very striking car. That beautiful gold paint, the gleaming chrome, the Magnums on raised letters and that dazzling motor make this a muscle car to be reckoned with. And with all that cool, its still got plenty of room for the family and the big car road manners to take you anywhere you want to go in comfort and style. But what is really great about this car is that you simply don't see them anymore. Sure, you see Mustangs and Camaros and Corvettes everywhere you go, but you may go years without seeing another '72 Newport, let alone one in this incredible condition. Look at how perfect all the panel gaps still are! I've done a lot of driving in this car over the last month or so and it is simply a great running, ready-to-go cruiser with a whole lot of attitude and a uniqueness that sets it apart from nearly everything else on the road. This is a car you can put in your garage and take it out for sunny day drives, or you could just as easily drive it every day. It is a great American classic, one that will remind you to slow down life a little bit, smell the roses, and enjoy some time with family and friends. That's my favorite part of owning a classic car, the fact that they help people come together and relax. Maybe enjoy a long weekend, or a drive to the lake, or just head out on a balmy evening when the wind is just right and the sound of that big motor humming down the highway is like a great rock n' roll song. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. I love all classics (I still own my first classic that I bought when I was 16!), so I'm open to interesting trades as well. Thanks again for taking a look at my Chrysler. -- Dustin Here's a link to more photos: http://www.supersportmotors.com/view_car.php?vehicle_id=186

Chrysler banks $507 million in Q2, trims 2013 earnings forecast
Tue, 30 Jul 2013Chrysler has some good news and some bad news. First, profits were up 16 percent over the second quarter of 2012, bringing the Auburn Hills, Michigan-based manufacturer $507 million on the back of strong demand for trucks and SUVs (a recurring theme this quarter, particularly in the US). Q2 revenue was up as well, from $16.8 billion in 2012 to $18 billion in 2013. The bad news is that the Pentastar's overall earnings forecast for net income in 2013 has been trimmed from $2.2 billion to between $1.7 and $2.2 billion, according to Automotive News.
In addition to the adjusted net income forecast, Chrysler tweaked its operating profit from $3.8 billion to between $3.3 and $3.8 billion. This has gone largely unexplained by Chrysler, perhaps hoping the news of a three-percent increase in its transaction prices for Q2 will allow it to sweep this adjustment under the rug.
The star of the show for Chrysler has been its US sales, which saw a 10-percent jump, both bettering the industry average of eight percent and improving over the same stretch of 2012. As with the increase in transaction prices, Chrysler has the new Ram pickup and Jeep Grand Cherokee to thank. Perhaps most worrying from this report, though, is that every brand in the automaker's stable saw an increase in sales... except for the Chrysler brand itself.
UAW may be key to forced FCA merger with GM
Wed, Jul 29 2015Sergio Marchionne doesn't give up on a business deal easily. While outwardly not much has recently been said about FCA's attempted merger with General Motors, Marchionne might be hoping to garner a powerful, new ally that could help break things wide open. The United Auto Workers retiree health care trust is the single largest shareholder of GM with 8.7 percent of the stock, and having its support would certainly improve FCA's position in getting a deal done. "Whatever happens in terms of consolidation, it would never be done without the consent and support of the UAW," Marchionne said when FCA recently began contract talks with the UAW, The Detroit News reports. The boss is also allegedly on good terms with the union president Dennis Williams. Still, using the organization for a hostile takeover could be very difficult because of the way its votes are structured. Other activist investors might already be on board, though. Marchionne believes that consolidation in the industry is vital because automakers are investing to create the same technologies. A GM/FCA merger still has many roadblocks, though, including the fact that Marchionne's company is smaller than GM. From a regulatory perspective, the size of the merged company could raise serious anti-trust concerns among regulators, according to The Detroit News. There's also the concern for lost jobs from redundant work with the two combined businesses. Even if the UAW angle doesn't work out, there are contingency plans afoot for other merger targets. According to The Detroit News speaking to anonymous insiders, FCA bigwigs have a meeting in London on Thursday to take a close look at other options. In addition to GM, they are investigating possible deals with Volkswagen and the Renault-Nissan Alliance. In the past, PSA Peugeot Citroen and multiple Asian automakers have also been brought up as partners, and UBS has reportedly been providing financial advice on what to do.
2017 Chevy Camaro Z/28 Nurburgring crash caught on video
Thu, May 12 2016A 2017 Chevy Camaro Z/28 prototype crashed Thursday morning during testing on the Nurburgring in Germany. The driver appears to be unharmed, and the Camaro was not severely damaged. You can see the crash happen near the 1:35 mark of the video. Everything is going fine as the camo-clad Camaro accelerates onto the 'Ring. But as the driver goes through a turn the back wheels lock up. The driver then nails the brakes, the front wheels lock up, and he careens into the rail, getting airborne in the process briefly. The driver then navigates the Camaro to the other side of the circuit. A crumpled front fender and maimed aero is the only damage. View 11 Photos Mishap aside, this is an excellent look at what we believe is the track-focused Camaro Z/28. We see the huge wing in back and smaller winglets in front reminiscent of the Corvette Z06's Z07 Performance Pack. The new Z/28 has a throaty, almost buzzy V8 sound. We predict the seven-speed manual transmission from the Corvette, and perhaps the new 10-speed automatic trans from the Camaro ZL1, will be available. This prototype has a huge, gaping grille, blacked out wheels, and an aggressive front splitter. Look for the Z/28 to go on sale next year. A General Motors spokesperson said the company doesn't comment on development testing, but noted that "safety is our overriding priority." Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.
