1978 Chrysler New Yorker 440 - automatic. 34,000 original miles. Car is in great shape.
Good: Seats are in amazing shape Lean burn system was replaced with the Summit Racing elimination kit Brand New radiator, fan clutch, thermostat, water pump, valve cover gaskets power everything cruise works has an Optima Red top battery Just drove it last weekend comes with an extra transmission for this engine if you would like it Also comes with extra A/C lines and a compressor off another 78 New Yorker. These are not easy to find. Title in hand Bad: Drivers window plastic piece is stripped, so window doesn't roll down. There is a ground loose (I assume) somewhere, as the left blinker does not always blink (it sticks on , and makes a buzzing sound). Heat gauge in the dash went bad, so I am using an external gauge sitting in the floor AC does blow, but it is not cold. Headliner is coming down, currently held up with pins. Fiat ups Chrysler stake by 3.3%, inches closer to full control
Mon, 08 Jul 2013Fiat is one step closer to completing a merger with Chrysler after exercising an option to acquire an additional 3.3 percent of the Auburn Hills-based automaker today. Automotive News reports that Fiat now controls 68.49-percent of Chrysler, which is up almost 10 percent since we last heard news of this deal back in February when Fiat talking to various banks to raise more capital in order to complete the acquisition.
The article says that Fiat is still able to increase its stake in Chrysler up to 75 percent over the next 12 months, but it sounds like CEO Sergio Marchinonne would rather purchase the remaining shares from VEBA - the retiree benefits trust - sooner rather than later. Unfortunately, the two sides still seem far from an agreement on a fair price for the rest of Chrysler, as Fiat has them valued at $4.2 billion compared to the $10.3 billion estimate from the unions that currently own the remaining stake in Chrysler.
2015 Chrysler 200 production gets underway [w/videos]
Mon, 17 Mar 2014Chrysler announced recently that it has added some 800 new jobs at its Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP) to support the production of its all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan. Total employment at the Sterling Heights, MI plant grows to almost 2,800 with the hires, an impressive figure for a plant that was slated for closure in 2010.
Speaking to a crowd of employees and community leaders, Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne was on hand to celebrate the kick-off of 200 production last week. "We're making a big bet on its success," said Marchionne of the sedan, "we've invested nearly a billion dollars in this facility."
That billion-dollar bill has been used to construct a spanking new paint shop, install a new body shop and install "machinery, tooling and material-handling equipment" according to the Chrysler press release. The company says that SHAP now runs to nearly five million square feet of manufacturing space - loads of room for all the new employees to do their thing - and that the facility can handle multiple vehicles on two unique architectures.
Fiat-Chrysler CEO: Please Don't Buy The Fiat 500e
Wed, May 21 2014Fiat-Chrysler's CEO had a strange request for electric vehicle shoppers on Wednesday: don't buy the all-electric Fiat 500e. While CEO Sergio Marchionne was speaking at a conference in Washington, he told the crowd he's tired of Chrysler-Fiat losing money, The Detroit News reported. "I hope you don't buy it [the 500e] because every time I sell one it costs me $14,000," he said to the audience at the Brookings Institution. "I'm honest enough to tell you that." Marchionne said federal and state fuel efficiency mandates are forcing the automaker to build unprofitable cars, according to Reuters. A normal Fiat 500 starts at $16,195, and the 500e starts at $32,650, before federal and state tax credits. There are no sales data to indicate how the 500e is performing.
