Reluctantly we must pass our 1966 Imperial Crown to another enthusiast due to our current Packard Esquire project.  We truly don't believe that you will ever find a better example of this model in terms of the original interior!  Headlining, seat inserts, leather, claro walnut, and carpets are ALL original and are almost like new.  There is one small tear in the fabric insert on the top of the driver's seat.  The leather is supple, the walnut is not faded, the headlining is taught and tear free, and all the fine chrome and stainless embellishments are factory perfect.  The repaint of this car is less than 2 years old.

This Imperial drives just as good as it looks, with a smooth recently re-built Torquefite transmission and all new brakes and master cylinder.  The factory air system is all there and complete;  however it does not work at present. All power accessories work with the exception of the passenger's front window (which we think is just disconnected).  The radial tires have less than 1,000 miles since installation.  Even the auto-dimmer works as well as the cruise control (this feature has been disconnected however).  The 440 engine is one of the smoothest you'll find (they were factory balanced in this last body-on-frame Imperial).  All exterior chrome and stainless is superb with the exception of the front bumper which is solid but needs re-plating. The trunk is very clean and has its original carpeting.  Somewhere down the road, the manifold seals should be replaced and possibly a new exhaust system installed, but the car is VERY quiet!  We have lavished a lot of love on this car and have all the paperwork and the owner's manual to prove it.  We invite your personal inspection at any time during the auction, which, we think is always the best way to buy a car on E-Bay.  We have 100% positive feedback and expect that from you, the buyer.  We welcome questions about this superb Imperial--perhaps the best year Imperial of all--and we think you will be surprised at the modest reserve for a car of this calibre.  This very weather-tight and dependable car can be driven home!

Chrysler 300 SRT dead in US, updated elsewhere

Sat, Aug 29 2015

The Chrysler 300 SRT is officially dead here in the US, but the sedan's big V8 continues to rumble in a handful of other markets around the world. In fact, the model just received a refresh abroad to fit the standard version's recently updated styling. According to Car and Driver, customers in countries like Australia, Japan, South Africa, South Korea, and a few other places can stop by their local Chrysler dealer soon to pick up some of this imported muscle. For the refresh, the 300 SRT's 6.4-liter V8 remains under the hood producing 470 horsepower, and it's now hooked up to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The styling also gets some updates like LED lights in the lower air dam, a reshaped mesh grille with the SRT logo, and a simplified design for the taillights. If it seems odd to go to the work of updating the 300 SRT's styling, while killing off the model in the US, the reason has to do with FCA's brand strategy here. Dodge is supposed to be the automaker's performance marque in America, and according to Car and Driver, Jeep gets to keep SRT branding on the Grand Cherokee because of the brawny SUV's popularity. That might not last much longer, because reports suggest a Hellcat-powered Trackhawk is on the way. Related Video:

NHTSA closes book on Jeep 'trailer hitch' recall after all

Mon, 20 Jan 2014

After much debating and hand-wringing, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration now says it has "no reservations" with Chrysler's plan to recall certain Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee models over concerns that their fuel tanks, which are located behind the rear axle, could rupture or leak in the event of a rear impact. The longstanding argument between the two entities saw Chrysler openly defy the Feds after a request to recall 2.7 million units back in June.
Chrysler's "voluntary campaign" will instead see it recall 1.56-million 1993-2004 model year Grand Cherokee SUVs, along with 2002-2007 Liberty models. Affected vehicles will get a trailer hitch installed free of charge, which Chrysler says will provide an additional degree of protection for the fuel tanks in the event of a crash. Jeeps with Mopar-branded hitches or hitches that were installed at the factory aren't affected by this recall.
Chrysler's argument throughout this battle has been that the Jeeps in question are no more susceptible to fires than comparable vehicles from the same time period, a position that NHTSA has seemingly arrived at as well. "Those vehicles performed at a rate similar to their peers. That is the keystone analysis as to whether something poses an unreasonable risk to safety," said outgoing NHTSA boss David Strickland during an interview with the The Associated Press.

Former Chrysler dealers could reopen under appeals court ruling

Thu, Jan 22 2015

Years after the bankruptcies and subsequent bailouts of Chrysler (now FCA) and General Motors, the automotive industry is still seeing legal decisions about them come through the courts. The latest ruling from a US appeals court has given 4 of the 789 dealers that Chrysler closed in its Chapter 11 process one less hurdle towards reopening. Following the bankruptcy, 105 of the shuttered dealers went through an arbitration process in hopes of reopening, and 32 won their arguments. However, a victory in that undertaking didn't necessarily mean that the stores could reestablish themselves. For these three showrooms in Michigan and one in Las Vegas, state laws allowed nearby competitors from the same automaker to stand in the way of restarting, according to Automotive News. This problem brought yet another lawsuit, and a US district court found that the arbitration decisions did not overrule state laws. The latest appeals court ruling overturned that decision. However, as with many legal proceedings, the process for reopening for these dealers still isn't exactly easy. The latest decision only covers the nearby dealers' ability to protest; it doesn't mandate FCA actually to open the stores again. According to a statement from Michael Palese of FCA legal communications to Automotive News, the ruling, "did not provide for reinstatement of the dealers who prevailed in arbitration, but only gave them a right to a 'customary and usual' letter of intent." It means for these showrooms to start selling again, now they need to work things out with Chrysler's new owner.
