1999 Chrysler Sebring Jxi Convertible on 2040-cars
Wauconda, Illinois, United States
this car has been in our family since new. Has been at home vehicle mostly while my kids were away at school. Is in good condition. Has some rust along bottom of doors, and in the RR to bumper facia area. Convertible top, brakes, power windows, transmission operate fine. Engine has a weird P1391"intermittent cam or crank position data" issue. Replaced crank pos sensor and new distributor ($200 itself) to try to remedy - still gives the code and engine surges. I can provide more detailed info on this, including oscilloscope traces of 2 mentioned sensor data issues if you want. I disconnected the right door power lock connector - the solenoid has been activating on its own randomly. I believe this and the data issue may be related. I was going to swap out the PCM with a used unit to prove out, but decided to get my kid a new car instead. Has an aftermarket stereo. Within the past ~ 3 years or so I replaced the distributor, rear brake lines, LR wheel cylinder, front rotors, all pads, all tie rods ends, aligned front end, EGR valve, trans fluid / filter, trans speed sensor. Tire are 2 years old with less than 1,000 miles on them. When the engine is not having the loss of crank / cam data, it runs strong and smooth. Transmission does not slip at all and shifts normally. One of the convert top top rails has a little sag in it (think a kid sat on it). This car is a blast to ride in nice weather, with the top down. Remote starter fob needs a new battery. Is not currently registered, but you can drive it around the sub division anyways. I have been as honest as I can be here. I don't think I missed anything. |

2014 Ram Power Wagon is bigger and badder than ever [w/video]
Wed, 09 Apr 2014
"The 2014 Ram Power Wagon fills a need for those who travel into extreme terrain for rescue or recreation." - Reid Bigland
More, more, more. That's the philosophy behind the latest Ram Power Wagon. The extra-brawny, Ram 2500-based pickup is back for 2014, and naturally, it's even more extreme than its predecessor.
Chrysler-Fiat quality chief out after another poor Consumer Reports showing
Tue, 28 Oct 2014Fiat Chrysler has announced a management change following the company's woeful performance in the latest Consumer Reports Annual Auto Reliability Survey. Of the 28 brands surveyed, FCA's marques occupied the five the seven lowest scores, while Dodge, Ram, Jeep and Fiat were the four lowest scorers.
Doug Betts, FCA's 51-year-old head of quality "left the company to pursue other interests," which, considering the aforementioned paragraph, means he was sacked. According to Automotive News, Betts joined Chrysler in 2007, defecting from Nissan, and, insiders report, had a somewhat tumultuous relationship with new boss Sergio Marchionne.
His replacement is the newly promoted Matthew Lidane (shown at inset), who was formerly VP of systems and components. Lidane has been at Chrysler since 1987 and was previously chief engineer of the Jeep product team as well as the vehicle line boss for the compact US wide platform which (ironically) underpins two of FCA's lowest scoring vehicles, the Dodge Dart and Jeep Cherokee.
Chrysler fires protest organizer at MI assembly plant
Tue, 12 Mar 2013Chrysler has reportedly fired a Warren Stamping Plant worker for what the company is calling a violation of its code of conduct. Alex Wassell (left), a 20-year veteran with the automaker, was suspended without pay after he was quoted in an article in The Detroit News. The 63-year-old welder repairman helped organize a demonstration against a new work schedule and was protesting outside the Michigan plant on February 28 when he was interviewed. Chrysler then fired Wassell when the paper published his comments. Wassell, has since filed a grievance and says that he's looking for an amicable settlement between his union and his former employer.
Meanwhile, multiple civil liberties groups have spoken out against Chrysler's decision to dismiss Wassell. Both the National Lawyer's Guild and the American Civil Liberties Union have released statements on the situation, with the ACLU saying "Employees have a right to air their grievances, even if that means a public demonstration or a comments to the media."
According to The Detroit News, Chrysler spokesperson Jodi Tinson said that Wassell was fired for "engaging in activity constituting or appearing to constitute a conflict with the interest of the company."
