Price Reduced On Classic Pt Cruiser In Cherry Red - $3999 (marion, Ia) on 2040-cars
Marion, Iowa, United States
I am excited to offer my red 2001 PT Cruiser Wagon 4D Limited for sale. This is the classic 2001 model -- the first year the Cruiser was made and the only year it was made really well. This car is a beauty and in vintage condition.
Special features include 5-speed manual transmission, three power outlets (one is live even when car is off: very convenient!), sun roof, power windows, leather seats, tailgate shelf, cherry red interior features on dash, combination compass/thermometer (F/C), AM/FM/CD. Rear seats fold down flat super easily to hugely extend rear cargo area. This car is low mileage for its age. To my knowledge the car has always been garaged; it is in excellent condition, looks and drives like a dream. I'm the second owner and purchased in March 2012, at which time the dealer had provided new tires and battery. I had shift cable assembly and control arm/lower ball joint assemblies replaced; also sway bar end links, rear hatch cylinder and all wipers. The car has not been in accidents and has not had smokers. The seats are like new, and interior and engine are very clean: it has been extremely well-maintained. Since I've had the car, I've put fewer than 5000 miles on it. During first summer, a crack appeared in the top of the vinyl dash (photo available on request) -- I purchased a repair kit, though have never used it, and this will be included with car. I have title in-hand; also comes with original owner's manual and two original electronic keys for keyless entry. Price is non-negotiable: car is worth at least this. |

Chrysler earns $1.7B in 2012, revises product plans for US
Wed, 30 Jan 2013Hot on the heels of Ford's earnings announcement for the year that was, Chrysler today reported a 2012 net income of $1.7 billion, up substantially from the comparatively minuscule $183 million profit earned in 2011 when it repaid its US government loans.
Chrysler's good year ended with an excellent fourth quarter that saw net income rise 68 percent from $225 million in 2011 to $378 million. Where are all those extra earnings coming from? Market share, which Chrysler saw increase to 11.4% last year on sales of 1.65 million vehicles. In fact, the Auburn Hills, MI-based automaker out-paced the industry's market growth of 13 percent last year with sales up 21 percent for the year.
The company also revealed an updated product plan for its Chrysler Group and Fiat brands that looks all the way out to 2016. It's an updated version of the plan introduced in 2009 shortly after Fiat took control of the American automaker, and includes such new additions as an Alfa Romeo model, likely the 4C, to be introduced in the US this year, as well five more Alfa models by 2016. Likewise, Fiat will be growing by an additional seven models in the coming few years.
Chrysler readying Hellcat V8 with Viper-like power
Tue, 21 May 2013A monstrous supercharged V8 engine could be in store for Chrysler and SRT products, if recent rumors are to be believed. Allpar is reporting that the forced-induction V8 - Chrysler's first, if this goes down - could make its debut this summer.
The story goes that the Hellcat would be based on a 6.2-liter Hemi engine, rather than on the existing 5.7- or 6.4-liter versions of the company's vaunted mill. In any case, the general consensus is that the motor will have gobs of power. Modest estimates call for between 500 to 570 horsepower, with some outliers predicting a figure as high as 600 hp. That figure would put the output would place the Hellcat awfully close to that of the 640-hp V10 in the SRT Viper, too. Allpar contends that a slightly lower powered version would allow Chrysler to keep costs below that of the more powerful Ford Shelby GT500, which might be a sweet spot.
The Hellcat could debut in a number of SRT products. SRT versions of the Charger, Challenger and 300 are all up for grabs, as is the rumored SRT Barracuda.
I sold my Viper, but the memories I'll keep
Thu, 30 May 2013The following is written by auto industry veteran Tow Kowaleski. The words are his own, but the memories now belong to everyone thanks to his willingness to share. If you're an industry veteran with a story to share, contact us at tipsATautoblogDOTcom.
It became the flame that started the fire of belief in the next life of Chrysler.
I just sold a car. Nothing new. Millions do it every day. But my car was a 1995 Dodge Viper, so maybe it was a bit more unique since just 12,000 were built. And like others selling a car that's been a part of the family for close to 20 years, this was a confluence of emotions for me. I was sad to see it go, but happy to have the cash and one less big, shiny, under-utilized object in my life.
