Spot on trunk carpet lost some fiber (see picture)."

This auction is for one of the rarest PT Cruisers made, it is #1026 of 1543 made and is the only year that Chrysler used the convertible for one of their Dream Cruiser Series #1-5. This is the only time that the Deep Lava Red Pearlcoat paint was used and the only time the matching cloth top was used on a convertible or wagon. The 15 spoke cast wheels were the only wheels available on this edition and there is no road/curb rash on any of them. Chrysler used the Dream Cruisers to honor the annual Woodward Ave. Street Cruise Car Show and limited production to bring customers into the local showroom. They loaded these cars with the best they had to offer and every option they could stick on them.

In 2005 this car sold for over $30K, not just the window sticker, the actual selling price ( I have the original Sales Contract). I am the second owner, when I bought the car I was given the owner's file with all his maintenance records, oil changes, etc. The car was delivered new by Norman Chrysler-Plymouth in Norman, OK. The original owners used it as a "fun car" at their lake house in Eastern Oklahoma and traded it in at  small local dealer for a more "practical" car.

I bought this car because my wife liked it, she has driven it twice in 9 months and it has gone less than 400 miles since we brought it to Texas. It has not been driven in the snow (pretty rare around here) or the rain while we've had it. I'm all for keeping everyone happy but it is time for this car to find someone who is going to drive it and enjoy it. The car is as clean as it looks in the pictures, it has some road chips in the front from having been driven and there are 2 scratches (touched up) on the rear bumper where something was dragged out of the trunk. The tires are like new Pirellis at all 4 corners. We have both keys and remotes along with the Dream Cruiser floor mats and Dream Cruiser Series 4 embossed folder for the Owner's Manual and the other factory books. All maintenance records go with the car. The front bumper has not been drilled for a front plate so it is still intact. The factory convertible boot cover is still in its original plastic bag with the installation instructions inside.

This is a  opportunity to get a very rare, limited production car, unmolested fun to drive car. Both this car's were/are close to retirement and the condition reflects it. My loss will be your gain.

This is a used car and all warranties are expired. I will accept, cash, cashiers/bank check (will verify), wire transfer or PayPal, no personal checks.

Please contact me if any questions or additional info. needed. Good Bidding! No Reserve!

Marchionne uses racial epithet to describe what must power future Alfa Romeo models

Wed, 16 Jan 2013

Sergio Marchionne and his Fiat empire have a lot riding on the US return of the Alfa Romeo brand. The endeavor has been in progress for what feels like a lifetime - certainly for as long as Fiat has had the Chrysler brand under its Italian wing.
It's not surprising that Fiat CEO Marchionne needs a perfect first Alfa to mark a return to America. And here's where things get dicey. Nobody would argue with Marchionne's insistence that Alfa Romeo's be powered by Italian engines - as Marchionne himself is quoted to have said at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, "There are some things that are well done in Italy."
If not what he said, then, it's how he said it that has eyebrows raised. "I cannot come up with a schlock product, I just won't. I won't put an American engine into that car. With all due respect to my American friends, it needs to be a wop engine." Wait, what's that?

FCA posts $716m profit in 2014, has big plans for 2015

Fri, Jan 30 2015

In practically every metric, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announced growing worldwide earnings for 2014 in its latest financial release. The automaker sold 4.608 million vehicles globally for the year, a 6-percent jump, and total revenue grew 11 percent to 96.090 billion euros ($109 billion). Profits before taxes also increased by 161 million euros ($182 million) from last year to 1.176 billion euros ($1.3 billion). However, net profits did tumble by 1.319 billion euros ($1.5 billion) to a total of 632 million euros ($716 million). These figures put FCA slightly ahead of what some analysts expected. According to Automotive News, the company's adjusted earnings before taxes and interest of 3.651 billion euros ($4.1 billion) beat a forecast figure of 3.4 billion euros ($3.9 billion). Regionally, Europe is showing signs of a comeback. FCA lost 109 million euros ($123 million) there in 2014, but that was almost a triumph compared to the 506 million euro ($573 million) loss in 2013. According to Automotive News, North America played a major role in the company's success, accounting for 55 percent of its revenue. While these annual figures show growth, FCA is even more optimistic about its prospects in 2015. The company is forecasting shipments of between 4.8 and 5 million vehicles worldwide next year. It also estimates earnings before interest and taxes to reach 4.1 billion and 4.5 billion euros ($4.6 billion – $5.1 billion). You can read FCA's full results in PDF format, here. While this release focuses on worldwide figures, FCA US, previously known as Chrysler Group, announces its US results on February 3. Five automakers now being investigated by NHTSA for airbag woes

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

It appears that Toyota's renotification to owners of recalled vehicles from last year is just the tip of the iceberg for what could potentially be a much larger industry-wide recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening a preliminary evaluation investigation into roughly 1.1 million vehicles from Chrysler, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota and parts supplier Takata regarding faulty airbag inflators in several models.
NHTSA has received six reports - three directly, two from Takata and one from Toyota - of vehicles with ruptured airbag inflators from 2002-2006, which resulted in three injuries. So far, all six incidents have occurred in high humidity areas like Florida and Puerto Rico. According to Toyota's latest recall announcement, the inflators may have an improper propellant that could cause it to rupture in a crash and the bag to deploy abnormally.
This new investigation follows a previous recall from April 2013 of about 3.4 million vehicles worldwide for the airbag inflators from Takata. As Autoblog reported, Toyota jumpstarted the new situation when it found that the original list of serial numbers for the faulty part was incomplete and discovered more cars in need of replacement. Honda and Nissan told us that they were investigating whether further models would need called in again as well. Mazda told Autoblog: "Regarding the current Takata situation, we're working closely with NHTSA and investigating the situation, but nothing else to report at this time." Chrysler Group responded to us with the statement: "Chrysler Group engineers are conducting the appropriate analysis. The Company will cooperate fully with the National Highway Traffic Administration."
