1966 Chrysler Newport Convertible...a fairly easy RESTORATION PROJECT.

Actually, the car fires right up, goes right into gear and shifts flawlessly!!  No smoke and weird noises the drive train seems to be in good overall shape. This would be a fairly easy restoration project.  Look at the pictures showing the rust in the trunk. What you see is the extent of the rust!!! The trunk floor and the trunk extensions need replacement. Any competent body shop can fabricate these pieces easily. The rest of the floor...is solid as a rock. Even the areas of the unibody frame look solid!!  The body is nice and straight as you can see in the pics.

The car needs a top, interior work, bumpers re-chromed, and a nice paint job.  With that you'd have a nice low priced summer cruiser!  Perfect cruise night or local car show event car.

Questions?  Call with ANY BEFORE you place your bid.  The reserve is nice and low so don't let this one slip away!!  Call me anytime my phone is on 24/7  402-650-3849  Tom

Winning bidder to send a $500. non-refundable deposit via Paypal 48 hours end of auction.  Balance will be due within 7 days end of auction. The balance to be paid with certified bank funds, bank to bank wire transfer or cash when the car is picked up. Incidentally, shipping is the buyer's responsibility. The car is in storage and can stay there for a REASONABLE length of time.

Remember...BID TO OWN!!  Please DO NOT BID if you have no intentions of buying the car!!!  Any questions>?

Chrysler develops fix for Pacifica PHEV minivan fires

Tue, Oct 18 2022

In February, Stellantis recalled 19,808 examples of the 2017 and 2018 Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid minivan due to reports of fires in 12 vehicles. The minivans were manufactured between August 12, 2016, and August 7, 2018. All were parked and turned off when they caught fire; eight of them were plugged in and charging. While engineers worked to isolate the source of the fires, Chrysler advised what's become standard practice in the case of electrical-related fire risks: For owners to park outside away from other objects that could catch on fire. Since then, there have been two more fires in Pacifica PHEVs and the first report of a minor injury because of a fire. Chrysler says it's developed a solution to return the minivan to normal operation and is notifying owners now. The fix is a trip to the dealer to have upgraded software installed for the High Voltage Battery Pack Control Module (BPCM) that manages the 16-kWh lithium-ion battery. Dealers will also inspect the battery pack and replace it if necessary. Of note, Chrysler says it hasn't definitively pinned down the cause of the fires, but it understands the conditions that can lead to the fires. The software's been updated to address these preconditions, the automaker telling Green Car Reports it "has validated its remedy." Owners should continue to park outside and away from structures and refrain from plug-in charging until their vans are fixed, after which they can "resume vehicle operation as outlined in their owners’ manuals." The repair will take from 1.5 to two days; a rental or courtesy car will be provided free of charge.  Stellantis has already begun sending letters to owners. Those with questions can contact their Chrysler dealerships, or get in touch with Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403 and refer to recall number Z11. They can also call the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) and mention campaign number 22V077.

Detroit's new emergency city manager worked on Chrysler bankruptcy [w/video]

Fri, 15 Mar 2013

Kevyn Orr, the new emergency city manager of Detroit, has a history with one of Michigan's most famous residents: Chrysler. Governor Rick Snyder (at right) appointed Orr to the position yesterday with the belief that Detroit needs outside assistance to right the city's mounting financial woes. Orr (at left), a partner with the Jones Day law firm, will begin work on March 25 and receive $275,000 a year for his work. While state officials believe the new city manager will be able to complete his duties in 18 months, the contract is technically open-ended.
The 54-year-old attorney helped steer Chrysler through its 2009 bankruptcy, earning $700 per hour for his efforts. He was also instrumental in convincing the courts to allow Chrysler to shutter 789 dealerships in a single month. Orr says he's aware that his efforts won't have made him any friends in Southern Michigan.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica refresh spotted with its new bits covered

Fri, Jan 31 2020

The Chrysler Pacifica is the critical darling of the minivan segment, but FCA seems keen to make it even better with a 2021 refresh we're expecting to see later this year. From these photos, we can tell that FCA's beloved people hauler will get some front- and rear-end updates. The spy who captured these photos also passed along the fact that the engineers inside moved quickly to cover up its interior, hinting that there will be news on that front as well. There might be more to this that we can't see from the outside. Rumors have been swirling for the better part of a year that Chrysler has plans to add all-wheel drive to the Pacifica's option sheet.  FCA has remained mum about this potential development, but it would be a logical step to keep the minivan relevant as the industry continues to feel the effects of crossover creep.  If it does come to fruition, this wouldn't be the first time FCA has offered all-wheel drive on a minivan, but historically the feature has come at the expense of another wildly popular option: the company's Stow 'n Go seating system, as the cubbies have always occupied the same space that would be needed to install a prop shaft to carry power to the rear axle. Maybe FCA's engineers have figured out how to combine the two, or will simply offer both as options that can't be combined as they have in the past. Given what appears to be the production-ready state of this particular test car, we may not have to wait long to find out.Â
