Chrome and Fins Fifties Cruise V

Chrome and Fins Fifties Cruise Vessel !!!!

(Actually This Car's Fins Are Chrome !!! )

1955 Chrysler,

Windsor Deluxe,

Newport,

2 Door Hardtop Coupe !!!

This is a rare example of a cool, good looking, good running, good driving and good riding Sporty Fifties 2 door hard top that is not a 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959 or 1960 Chevrolet Bel Air, an Impala, a Ford Fairlane, a Galaxie, a Buick Roadmaster, Century or Special, a Cadillac, a Pontiac, an Oldsmobile, a Dodge or even a Plymouth.

Few people even realize that Chrysler built anything but stodgy Grandpa four doors but they did !!!

This Is A Very Pretty, Good Running, Drive To The Show Car !!!

I'm a hardcore car guy and a couple of years ago I had my '56 Ford Crown Victoria  at the "Back To The Fifties" car show when I ran across this car. I found it a refreshing sight as there were literally 500 Tri-Five Chevys, GMs and Fords for every '55, '56 or '57 Mopar on the grounds.

Of the 12,000 cars at the show only 3 were '55 or '56 Chrysler two door hardtops !!!

I could just picture it slammed to the ground on air bags with 18 and 20 inch Torque Thrust Five Spokes and low profile rubber slithering through the Fairgrounds traffic.

Within 30 minutes I convinced the owner he should sell it to me and rescue me from the boring "Belly-button" cars everybody else had at the show.

I made a deal with a guy from Sweden that wanted my Crown Vic and I came home with a very coooool Chrysler.

THIS OLD GIRL IS A LOOKER !!!

Once I had the car home I realized how nice and solid it was. In short I could not make myself cut it up into a hot rod. I have left it alone and enjoyed driving it just exactly as I bought it. It's power steering, automatic transmission and over-all comfort make my Wife and Daughter as eager to drive it as I am. I've had fun but have now decided to pass it on to another lucky person to drive, enjoy or build into the hot rod of my dreams.

Here are the details;

I'm not going to try to write a description like " there is a 7/8 inch long scratch on the Drivers door 3 inches from the door handle at a 37 degree angle to the right". That is as ridiculous as it is impossible to do. I'm also not going to try to hide anything.....this is an old car that has been driven since it was done. It is what it is.

It looks good.

It runs good.

The paint is smooth and shiny.

The body is straight.

The chrome glistens.

BODY- This is a Southern car that came from Alabama.  I believe I'm the 3rd owner. The sheet metal is straight and solid. The floors are solid with the exception of one spot near the right front body mount, the mount is solid but the floor has a small hole there but honestly it is not big enough to worry about fixing unless you are trying to make a show car. The trunk floor is solid. The floor drops and inner rockers are solid. To me it looks like the car was undercoated when new and the bottom side has been cleaned but not painted or detailed as the car is meant to be a driver. The car appears solid to me and the repair work that was done was done well. THE BODY LOOKS GOOD !!!

PAINT- The car has one professional Base coat/Clear coat Polyurethane repaint over the original paint.  This car was born blue and white. The color is Sapphire Blue Metallic and is dazzling in the sun....almost looks like Candy Apple. The finish is smooth and shiny. The car has been water buffed and glazed and looks great.  NICE PAINT !!!

ENGINE- 301 Polysphere V-8 with automatic transmission and dual exhaust. I believe this is the original engine in the original condition. The car shows 41,829 miles which was represented to me as actual. Starts easily. Runs well. Doesn't smoke. Doesn't seem to drip oil. Has the typical Chrysler piston slap on cold starts that quiets down when it warms up. My 73 year old mechanic says this is no big deal and these engines did this when new. New belts, hoses, wires etc. RUNS GOOD !!!

INTERIOR- Seats redone recently. Carpet is older. I believe the headliner and door panels  are original. Interior chrome, dash chrome and crank handles are very good.

CHROME- Fifties cars need good chrome and this one has it. The chrome is definitely one of this cars strong points. The Front and Rear Bumpers and Bumper Guards and the Grill have been re-chromed at great expense. The rest of the chrome and stainless trim is original and looks REALLY nice. The Hood Bird is EXCELLENT as are the window frames. The  rear Chrysler Coat of Arms Badge has some blisters.

GLASS-  All good. No cracks.

FRAME and SUSPENSION- Frame is solid. New brake Cylinders, shoes and hoses.

TIRES and WHEELS- Near new radial tires and Chrome Reversed Wheels.

ELECTRICAL- New street rod type fuse box and wiring harness. CONVERTED TO 12 VOLTS with a modern Alternator.

OTHER STUFF- Factory Power Steering. Factory Town and Country Wonder Bar Signal Seeking Radio works but needs to be run on secondary battery in the trunk as it is 6-Volt Positive Ground. I took out the trunk battery and disconnected it. Horns toot. Wipers wipe. Blinkers blink. Heater works, Clock and Gas Gauge don't. It's not a perfect car but it's not a perfect car price either. Leave it as it is and enjoy it or spend a few Saturday afternoons doing improvement projects on it. It is a NEAT OLD CAR !!!

That's about it.

I've tried to describe the car well and hope I didn't miss anything.

Please call if you have questions.

Cool Can't Be Beat and Cruisers Are HOT !!!

THIS CAR IS BOTH !!!

If you don't believe me,

TRY TAKING THIS SWEETIE TO A CAR SHOW AND WATCH THE PEOPLE WALK PAST THE '57 CHEVY CONVERTIBLES TO LOOK THIS CAR OVER !!!

You Don't Have To Spend A $100,000 + To Have A Car People Will Admire !!!

OR EVEN $20,000 !!!!

This entire car will be sold for less than the cost of the body and paint

and less than the cost of a used Kia !!!

This car is ready to go and have fun with, I Know 'cuz that's what I've been doing with it !!!

This car is ready to drive to the car show NOW !!!

If you are not in the mood for a car show then simply:

2015 Chrysler 200 nets 10,000 orders in first day

Thu, 15 May 2014

Chrysler is having a "crazy impressive" launch for its 2015 200, claims company spokesperson Rick Deneau. Within the first two days of opening the order books, the Pentastar took over 17,000 requests for its swoopy new family sedan - 10,000 of them in the first day. The company says that's enough to keep its Sterling Heights, MI, factory running at full capacity through mid-July.
Deneau tells Autoblog that the last time he saw such an immediate popularity for a model was when Ram launched its 1500 EcoDiesel pickup. That truck sold out of its initial order allocation in just three days earlier this year. As you'd expect, "most of these are dealer orders," Deneau admits. In other words, they're not necessarily coming at the behest of individual customer, but that's standard operating procedure as dealers look to fill up their showrooms.
For the moment, it's too early to know which trim or engine will prove most popular in the new 200. At present, most of the ordered models are highly optioned. That's normal for a new vehicle launch, as early adopters tend to want all the bells and whistles and dealers want to show off their new stock by putting their best foot forward.

Harsh words from senators over Chrysler's delay in reporting hack

Fri, Jul 24 2015

The federal agency charged with protecting American motorists wants to know more about how hackers remotely commandeered and controlled a Jeep Cherokee. Hours after Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recalled 1.4 million cars affected by a flaw in their cellular connections, officials with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Friday they'll further probe the defect by conducting a formal recall query investigation. "Opening this investigation will allow NHTSA to better assess the effectiveness of the remedy proposed," the agency said in a written statement. The remedy works, said Chris Valasek, one of the researchers who first discovered the security flaw. After testing for the vulnerability again Friday, he wrote on Twitter: "Looks like I can't get to @0xcharlie's Jeep from my house via my phone. Good job FCA/Sprint!" From his Pittsburgh home, Valasek had previously accessed and controlled co-worker Charlie Miller's Jeep along a St. Louis highway. Researchers have demonstrated remote hacks before, but the scope and severity of the Jeep vulnerability was unprecedented. The recall for a cyber threat was the first of its kind. Although a software patch and changes made by cellular provider Sprint appeared to fix the problem, news of the exploit and Chrysler's response brought a fresh round of consternation on Capitol Hill, where federal lawmakers had already expressed concerns about automotive cyber security. The Jeep hack elevated their concerns to a new level. "Cyber threats in cars are real and urgent, no figment of the imagination, as this huge recall demonstrates," said Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT). "Incredibly, Chrysler delayed disclosing this chilling cyber-security danger egregiously and inexcusably, and strong sanctions are appropriate to send a message that other auto manufacturers will heed." Chrysler had known about the security gap since October, and Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) wondered why it took the company so long to let customers know they were at risk. "Despite knowing about this security gap for nearly nine months, Chrysler is only now recalling 1.4 million vehicles to fix this vulnerability," he said. That's a potential pitfall for Chrysler, and something NHTSA will likely address in its investigation. Automakers are supposed to report safety-related defects to the agency within five days of discovery. But according to a chronology of events Chrysler submitted in its recall paperwork, it didn't inform NHTSA until July 15.

China's Great Wall confirms its interest — in Jeep, or all of FCA

Tue, Aug 22 2017

HONG KONG/SHANGHAI — Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor reiterated its interest in Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV on Tuesday, but said it had not held talks or signed a deal with executives at the Italian-American automaker. China's largest sport utility vehicle manufacturer made a direct overture to Fiat Chrysler on Monday, with an official saying the company was interested in all or part of FCA, owner of the Jeep and Ram truck brands. Automotive News first reported the news, quoting Great Wall Motor President Wang Fengying as saying she planned to contact FCA to discuss acquiring the Jeep brand specifically. Those comments sent FCA shares higher but also raised questions over the ability of China's seventh-largest automaker by sales to buy larger Western rival FCA, or even Jeep, which some analysts value at as much as one-and-a-half times FCA. Great Wall sought to dampen speculation on Tuesday. It confirmed it had studied Fiat Chrysler, but said there was "no concrete progress so far" and "substantial uncertainty" over whether it would eventually bid. "The company has not built any relationship with the directors of FCA nor has the company entered into any discussion or signed any agreements with any officer of FCA so far," the company said in an English-language stock exchange filing. It did not give further detail. Fiat Chrysler stock dipped on the statement on Tuesday. Great Wall said trading in its Shanghai-listed shares would resume on Wednesday after having been suspended. Fiat Chrysler declined to comment on Great Wall's statement. On Monday, it said it had not been approached and was fully committed to implementing its current business plan. FLUSHING OUT RIVALS? Great Wall Motor, which was early to spot China's love of SUVs, had revenue of $14.8 billion last year and sold 1.07 million vehicles - but that compares with FCA's 2016 revenue of 111 billion euros ($130.6 billion). Analysts said Great Wall would need to raise both debt and equity to complete any deal, meaning its chairman Wei Jianjun could lose majority control. One possible scenario, according to analysts at Jefferies, would see Wei keeping a roughly 30 percent stake, while Great Wall would raise $10-$14 billion in debt and $10 billion in equity - hefty for a group currently worth just $16 billion. Ultimately, politics could be the clincher.
